The emergence of problems related to multicultural issues such as tribal wars, separatism, and other movements that have the potential to cause national disintegration is urgent and requires the right solution. In the Indonesian context, the younger generation (students) are potential subjects for solving multicultural conflicts. In connection with this problem, one form of a potential solution is multicultural education, especially through economic learning because of its potential to build tolerance and mutual respect. Therefore, this article will focus on a discussion on the implementation of multicultural education in economic learning at SMAN 3 Bandar Lampung. The methodology used is a case study with Robert K. Yin design. The results showed that the strategy used by history teachers in implementing multicultural education in history learning was cooperative learning in the form of discussions, group work, and presentations. This strategy is considered suitable because it is able to know the affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects of students. The obstacles experienced are very diverse, including student saturation, dissatisfaction with the group of teachers to the limitations of the cost of studying outside the classroom in site observation activities that are in accordance with economic learning materials so that most learning is carried out in class using photos and video media.

This study aims to determine the formulation of the sell price for service of tour package at travel companies. This research was conducted at PT Airlangga Global Traveling Surabaya. The analytical method used in this study is a comparative descriptive, is the analysis of the curreny selling price of tour package services, determining the cost method based on activity cost plus pricing, then comparing the selling price of tour package services based on current methods with activity cost plus pricing. The result of this research showed that the calculation of the selling price of the company method is too high when it compares with using the activity cost plus pricing method. This is due to the imposition of indirect cost on each of the tour package service products that have been able to allocate cost appropriately based on the consumption of each activity. This research contributes to PT Airlangga Global Traveling itself, that they sould be allocate indirect cost using Activity Cost Plus Pricing to formulate the right selling price. Other than that, this research also contributes to the literature history regarding TDABC which is still very rarely written in detail case step-by-step.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the costs/benefits of implementing the cross-docking strategy in a retail supply chain context using a cost model. In particular, the effects of using different typologies of cross-docking compared to traditional warehousing are investigated, taking into consideration an actual case study of a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company and a major French retailer. Design/methodology/approach The research is based on a case study of an FMCG company and a major French retailer. The case study is used to develop a cost model and to identify the main cost parameters impacted by implementing the cross-docking strategy. Based on the cost model, a comparison of the main cost factors characterizing four different configurations is made. The configurations studied are, the traditional warehousing strategy (AS-IS configuration, the reference configuration for comparison), where both retailers and suppliers keep inventory in their warehouses; the cross-docking pick-by-line strategy, where inventory is removed from the retailer warehouse and the allocation and sorting are performed at the retailer distribution centre (DC) level (TO-BE1 configuration); the cross-docking pick-by-store strategy, where the allocation and sorting are done at the supplier DC level (TO-BE2 configuration); and finally a combination of cross-docking pick-by-line strategy and traditional warehousing strategy (TO-BE3 configuration). Findings The case study provides three main observations. First, compared to traditional warehousing, cross-docking with sorting and allocation done at the supplier level increases the entire supply chain cost by 5.3 per cent. Second, cross-docking with allocation and sorting of the products done at the retailer level is more economical than traditional warehousing: a 1 per cent reduction of the cost. Third, combining cross-docking and traditional warehousing reduces the supply chain cost by 6.4 per cent. Research limitations/implications A quantitative case study may not be highly generalisable; however, the findings form a foundation for further understanding of the reconfiguration of a retail supply chain. Originality/value This paper fills a gap by proposing a cost analysis based on a real case study and by investigating the costs and benefits of implementing different configurations in the retail supply chain context. Furthermore, the cost model may be used to help managers choose the right distribution strategy for their supply chain.

The fleet assignment problem which causes great increasing in costs is necessary for a solution of “right fleet to the right flight” for airline companies. In this paper, a fleet assignment model is set up using the data of the biggest Turkish airline company, Turkish Airlines. The aim of this model is to assign most appropriate fleet type to flights while minimizing the cost and determine optimal number of aircraft grounded overnight at each airport. We set up a model with constraints and determination of all airline operations and solve our problem using integer linear programming. Finally, we get an optimum solution which minimizes the total cost while assigning the fleet type to the flight leg. Using optimization software, the solution to this problem generates a minimum daily cost of fleet assignment and it aims to assign most appropriate fleet type to flights while minimizing the cost and determine optimal number of aircraft grounded overnight at each airport.
