Communication technology and the internet  have developed quite rapidly from time to time. The development of communication  technology and the internet has changed the way human’s communication. Human interaction is no longer limited to face-to-face meetings, but has now shifted to interaction or communication using computer and internet media which are not limited to space and time. This mediated communication is known as Computer Mediated Communication (CMC). Communication through the CMC was developed by various application  providers to facilitate internet users in communicating, one of which is through the Instagram application. Text, images and videos are included in the type of computer mediated communication (CMC) interaction. The CMC interaction is used by internet users from various circles, including millennial mothers. This research was conducted to find out how the role of CMC in developing self-potential among millennial mothers. This research is a qualitative research using semi-structured interviews as a data collection method. The findings in this study indicate that informants are selective in presenting themselves through the selection of images, videos and descriptions before uploading on the Instagram page so that they are able to display their potential.

The outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 led to a UK lockdown, where citizens were asked to stay at home for an undefined period. This forced people to make sudden decisions regarding where to live and who they would not see. Through 18 semi-structured interviews with individuals aged 27-72, this paper explores how people maintained friend-based, romantic, familial and professional relationships during lockdown in Spring 2020. The enforced separation following lockdown motivated people to reconsider how they conducted relationships in and outside the home. Within the household, people verbally and physically renegotiated boundaries to ensure relationship harmony. Computer-mediated communication (CMC) was utilised to maintain connections with estranged relationships, as people accessed new platforms to replicate familiar face-to-face (F2F) processes online. This article considers the disruption to relationships experienced during this time, providing an in-the-moment insight into the use of CMC in maintaining relationships during the first UK lockdown.

Straipsnyje pateikiama tarpkultūrinės komunikacijos, egzistuojančios interneto bendruomenėse, analizė, atlikta bendradarbiaujant su grupės MMORPG (angl. Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) nariais. Šio tyrimo tikslas buvo parodyti, kad interneto bendruomenės linkusios turėti gana išvystytas organizacines struktūras, įgalinančias jų narius dirbti kartu atliekant intelektines užduotis. Nors MMORPG tradicinė akis į akį komunikacija yra pakeičiama kompiuterių perduodama komunikacija (angl. computer mediated communication), vis tiek galima pamatyti, kaip formuojasi specifinės grupės kultūra. Tyrimo metu nustatytas dar vienas svarbus veiksnys – interneto bendruomenėse, kurias sudaro MMORPG nariai iš skirtingų kultūrų, pasaulio religijų, matyti, kad kultūriniai jų sąveikos aspektai ne tik atsiskleidžia iš jų veiksmų, bet taip pat turi didelę įtaką žaidėjo elgsenai ar grupės organizavimui. Ilgo bendradarbiavimo veiksnys rodo, kad tarp žaidėjų, priklausančių MMORPG, yra susiformavusių specifinių komunikacijos formų ir integruojanti grupės kultūra.Intercultural communication and the Internet. The role of intercultural communication in Internet societiesMaciej Kałuża, Ewa Golik SummaryThe subject of our paper is an analysis of intercultural communication, in Internet societies, concentrated on group cooperation in MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games). The main purpose of our study was to show that Internet societies tend to have a highly developed structure of organization, enabling them to work together on very sophisticated tasks. Even though in MMORPGs a traditional face-to-face communication is replaced by the computer-mediated communication, we can still observe emergence of specific group cultures as defined by traditional sociology. Also, a rather important factor is that due to the fact that the Internet societies found in MMORPGs are made up of players from different cultures, world regions, the cultural aspect of their interaction is not only visible in their actions, but also tends to have a strong influence on players’ behaviors and group organization. The fact of a long cooperation among players playing the MMORPGs also results in a very specific form of communication and a highly complex in-group culture.Key words: Internet, communication, group, organization, structure

The proliferation of social networks on the Internet and the growing creation ‎of Facebook accounts have changed the writing techniques of French-‎speaking Algerian Internet users, and particularly women, who add new ‎forms of writing to their comments: pictograms or emojis. The complexity ‎linked to the study of these non-verbal signs exchanged through computer-‎mediated communication channels lies not only in the difficulty of taking ‎into account the production context but also in the adaptation of the ‎appropriate analysis tools. to a type of writing that is out of the ordinary. ‎Are emojis a new language that would replace words? We have attempted, ‎through semiotic analysis, to interpret actual achievements of iconic ‎productions in a Facebook group‎‎.‎

Iraq is a wide country in the area and construction projects have been distributed in many places, therefore this research studies the ability to use advanced communication tools such as computer-mediated communication instead of traditional communication (Face To Face). Revit application which based on BIM technology have been used , this application helped in exchange design information between designer and site engineer for in making decisions , solving problems ,reduce wasted time and reduce the expenses that occur as a result of the use of FTF communication .The results concluded from this research are that communication quantity in FTF was more than in CMC where Total Number of Words (TNOW) were in FTF 303 while in CMC 246 , The percentage of Number of Work Related Words said in CMC is higher than in FTF, it was 87% in CMC and 81% in FTF of the (TNOW) , it is indicating that communication in CMC more productive than communication in FTF, in addition to that the working time in CMC were (262 seconds every 5-minutes) slightly higher than in FTF were (252 seconds every 5-minutes), this  explains that CMC was slightly more productive than FTF . Wasted time for FTF consistently higher than wasted time in CMC  ,where the averages of wasted time spent for every 5 minutes were 32 second in FTF and 21 in CMC ,this is due to that FTF was easier than CMC in terms of social speech. To identify  degree collaboration between users in two methods by the total number of exchanges in CMC was higher than in FTF because most of the persons were having more interaction when using CMC.

In recent years, the communication space of Chinese cities is actively transforming, new forms of human interaction emerge and develop. This transformation is accompanied by the expansion of the variety of “third places”. The article examines the popular “third places” of China's megalopolises, describes new communicative practices, gives an overview of modern tendencies in the development of urban discourse in China. The investigation shows that urban communication is displaying the growth of face-to-face rather than computer-mediated communication. However, it is not yet possible to predict what impact the COVID‐19 epidemic will have on the further development of urban communication in China and what transformations the “third places” of China's megalopolises will undergo after the epidemic end.

In this experimental study, unacquainted dyads engaged in a get-acquainted task using two modes of communication across two segments of interaction. The dyads either first disclosed in text-based computer-mediated communication (CMC) and then disclosed face-to-face (FtF) or the reverse. The participants completed reaction measures after each segment of interaction. After the first segment, dyads who communicated FtF reported more positive outcomes (e.g., liking, closeness) than dyads who engaged in CMC. Furthermore, dyads who began in CMC and then transitioned to FtF increased in their positive reactions, whereas dyads who began in FtF and transitioned to CMC either experienced no change (in liking, closeness, and perceived similarity) or experienced a decrease (in fun/enjoyment and perceived responsiveness). Implications of the results are discussed both for the classic social psychology question of how people become acquainted and for current interest in how mixed-mode interactions generate social bonds that can help meet belonging needs.

The current study reports on a meta-analysis of the relative effectiveness of interaction in synchronous computer-mediated communication (SCMC) and face-to-face (FTF) contexts. The primary studies included in the analysis were journal articles and dissertations completed between 1990 and 2012 (k = 14). Results demonstrate that interaction in SCMC and FTF had a significant impact on second language (L2) development, providing further support for previous research demonstrating the efficacy of interaction in both communication modes (e.g., Mackey & Goo, 2007; Pellettieri, 2000; Smith, 2004, 2005). There was also a small advantage for interaction in SCMC on measures of overall L2 learning outcomes, with additional analyses indicating a small advantage for SCMC interaction on productive and written measures and a small advantage for FTF interaction on receptive and oral learning outcomes. Interestingly, there were no significant differences between SCMC and FTF, suggesting the mode of communication has no statistically significant impact on the positive developmental benefits associated with interaction.
