Introduction. Microscopic algae play an important role in ecosystems of ponds. They create a primary organic matter, select oxygen, utilize carbon dioxide, inorganic and organic contamination in water and are a meal for numerous aquatic lives (infusoria, worms, crustaceas and fishes). Aim. The aim of the work was to study the current state of the algoflora of the ponds studied. Methods. The samples collected from November 2011 for August in 2020 on two ponds of Diukovskyi Park served as materials for the research. The samples were collected in phytoplankton, periphyton and microphytobenthos in spring, in summer and in autumn. On the whole 80 samples were collected and treated. The specific composition of algae was studied by the light microscope XSP-104.  Results. The results of the research (2011-2020) of the specific composition of microscopic algae from 2 ponds of Diukovskyi Park of city Odesa were generalised. The species composition of the microphytes of Dukovskyi ponds included 67 species of algae, which belonged to 49 genera, 36 families, 21 orders, 9 classes, 7 divisions, 4 kingdoms and 2 empires. The number of species in the ponds was dominated by representatives of diatoms (38 species), blue-green (13), green (7) and khar (5). 13 species belonged to the empire of prokaryotes, 54 species – to eukaryotes. The kingdom of eubacteria is represented by 13, chromists ‒ 40, protozoa – 2, plants ‒ 12 species. Representatives of the leading genera Cosmarium Corda et Ralfs (5 species), Nitzschia Hassall (4) make up the algoflora of the ponds. For the first time, 14 new species of algae were registered for the ponds of Diukovskyi Park. The Sorensen-Chekanov similarity coefficient of the species composition of the algae ponds between the algoflores of Diukovskyi park and the arboretum named After Victory was 0.44, and Jakkar similarity ratio between them ‒ 0.29. In phytoplankton of ponds 20, periphyton ‒ 23 and microphytobentos ‒ 24 species were identified. By type of organization, single-celled forms were represented by 25, colonial - 33 and multicellular ‒ 6 species. Among them, there were 40 immobile, 27 taxa ‒ mobile. In accordance with the type of morphological differentiation of tallomas coccoid forms (50 taxa) dominated, filamentous constituted 6, capsal ‒ 6 and monad ‒ 4 species. The algoflora of the ponds of Diukovskyi Park is freshwater, alkaliphilic, mesosaprobic and cosmopolitan. Conclusions. The algoflora of two ponds of Diukovskyi Park consists of 67 species of microscopic algae, which belong to 7 divisions, 4 kingdoms and 2 empires. For the first time14 new species were identified for the ponds. The algoflora of ponds of Diukovskyi Park is freshwater, alkaliphilic, mesosaprobic and cosmopolitan.

AbstractWe provide an updated survey for Sri Lanka of species of Graphis sensu Staiger, recently divided into Graphis s. str. and Allographa, including brief descriptions and a key to all 124 species currently known. Six new species are described: Allographa bambusicola Weerakoon, Lücking & Aptroot, a bambusicolous Allographa with entire labia, a laterally carbonized excipulum, 80–100 × 15–17 µm large, muriform ascospores and a rather thick, irregularly verrucose lateral thalline margin of the lirellae; A. weerasooriyana Weerakoon, Arachchige & Lücking, a corticolous Allographa resembling A. rustica Kremp. in overall anatomy and chemistry, but with a verrucose thalline margin of the lirellae and labia not distinctly raised above the thalline margin; Graphis flosculifera Weerakoon, Lücking & Aptroot, a corticolous Graphis resembling G. insulana but differing in the unique disposition of the lirellae and the slightly more elongate ascospores; G. rajapakshana Weerakoon, Lücking & Aptroot, a corticolous Graphis resembling G. desquamescens, including in ascospore size, but with lirellae with a distinct lateral thalline margin; G. rimosothallina Weerakoon, Lücking & Aptroot, a corticolous Graphis with a thick, uneven, rimose thallus and Fissurina-like lirellae, a completely carbonized excipulum and transversely 7-septate ascospores, 32–37 × 8–10 µm; and G. thunsinhalayensis Weerakoon, Arachchige & Lücking, a corticolous Graphis resembling G. subalbostriata but with smaller ascospores and lacking white lines between the striae of the labia. We also validate the name G. verrucoserpens Lücking. A total of 106 species are reported here for the first time from Sri Lanka. A biogeographical comparison with two other well-sampled countries (Costa Rica and Thailand) revealed a significantly higher similarity in species composition with Costa Rica than between Thailand and Costa Rica, suggesting a potential signature of the ‘biotic ferry’ hypothesis, that is the migration of lineages from Gondwana (partly corresponding to the modern Neotropics) via the north-eastwards drifting Indian subcontinent and subsequent interchange with Laurasia (partly corresponding to the modern eastern Paleotropics). However, the evolutionary timeline of the clades involved does not support this hypothesis and suggests an alternative explanation of geologically more recent mid- to long-distance dispersal.

Ruchin A, Mikhailenko AP. 2018. Fauna of mantids and orthopterans (Insecta: Mantodea, Orthoptera) of the Mordovia StateNature Reserve, Russia. Biodiversitas 19: 1194-1206. The data on the distribution and habitat confinement of one Mantodea species and44 Orthoptera species in the Mordovia State Nature Reserve are given. Of these, one species of Orthoptera (Calliptamus italicus) isrecorded for the first time for the Mordovia State Nature Reserve, four species (Mantis religiosa, Phaneroptera falcata, Conocephalusfuscus, Tettigonia caudata) are recently penetrated, one species (Conocephalus fuscus) is reported in the Republic of Mordovia for thefirst time. In the fauna of mantids and orthopterans of the Mordovia Reserve, three ecological groups were identified: polytopic, notconfined to certain biotopes (14 species), hygrophilous representatives of intrazonal habitats (5 species) and xerophiles. Among thelatter, there are species of extrazonal habitats (13 species) and confined to dry pine forests (7 species). The steppe group was notrepresented. For the three key habitats with the largest number of identified species, brief botanical descriptions are given. Factorsinfluencing the species composition and current state of fauna of mantises and orthopterans of the Mordovia Reserve are discussed, andmeasures are proposed for the conservation of vulnerable species.

The study of the species composition of Nostocales cyanobacteria in samples taken from different steppe ecosystems allowed us to analyze for the first time the diversity of the genus Nostoc in the Ukrainian steppe using molecular genetic methods. In the analysis, special attention was paid to the study of the predicted secondary structure of the ITS Box-B and V3 loops. During the analysis, it was shown that a number of isolated Nostoc strains, in addition to morphological ones, have significant genetic differences, which will allow us to propose new species for science based on further research.

This report supplements an earlier account on the hydroids of the Guadeloupe archipelago, and records 31 additional species of thecates. Among them, Halecium calderi sp. nov., Antennella armata sp. nov., and Antennella incerta sp. nov., are described. Laomedea tottoni Leloup, 1935 is redescribed and reassigned to the genus Clytia Lamouroux, 1812. Its synonymy is broadened upon inclusion of Clytia laxa Fraser, 1937. Hebella venusta (Allman, 1877) is considered valid based on comparison with related species, and its gonotheca is described for the first time. Two sympatric varieties of Sertularella diaphana (Allman, 1885), easily separable morphologically and by their cnidome composition, are discussed. Sertularella ornata Fraser, 1937 is recorded for the second time and is fully redescribed. Its name is actually a junior synonym of S. fusiformis (Hincks, 1861) f. ornata Broch, 1933, and it is here referred to as S. fraseri nom. nov. Sertularia thecocarpa Jarvis, 1922, Sertularella minuscula Billard, 1924, Sertularella parvula Mammen, 1965, and Sertularia stechowi Hirohito, 1995 are placed in the synonymy of Sertularella tongensis Stechow, 1919, the latter being transferred to the genus Sertularia Linnaeus, 1758. Sertularia ephemera nom. nov. is proposed as a replacement name for Sertularia tongensis Stechow, 1919. Aglaophenia postdentata Billard, 1913 is confidently recorded from the Atlantic for the first time. Dentitheca dendritica (Nutting, 1900) is redescribed, and additional notes on Macrorhynchia clarkei (Nutting, 1900) are provided. All the species discussed herein are new records for the study area. Illustrations are given for each species and data on the nematocyst complement and size of capsules are given when necessary. The number of hydroid species reported from the study area is raised to more than eighty. Hydroids of the Caribbean are moderately well known faunistically, though continuous discovery of new species is likely, the species composition being certainly richer than currently reported.

ABSTRACT Nassarius Duméril, 1805 is the most diverse genus within the nassariid subfamily Nassariinae. Nonetheless, information on members of this genus from the Indian subcontinent, a major ecoregion of the western Indo-Pacific, is scarce. Here, we report Nassarius fuscus (Hombron & Jacquinot, 1848) for the first time from India and provide information on its morphology and ecology. This species has previously been recorded only from the central Indo-Pacific. We also describe a new species of Nassarius, N. arewarensis n. sp., which on the basis of our data is sister to N. fuscus. Both species were found within heterogeneous strands of mangroves in the shallow intertidal area of the Aare-Ware Creek, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India. Morphological comparisons as well as species delimitation analyses using the universal cytochrome c oxidase subunit I barcode indicated that these species are distinct. The present study enhances our understanding of the species composition and the diversity of Nassarius in India.

New data was added to the oribatid species composition of the Rivnensky Nature Reserve. Overall, 62 mite species were recorded for the territory of research in this study. The species Acrogalumna longipluma, Micreremus brevipes, Licneremaeus licnophorus, Oribatella reticulata, and Porobelba spinosa were not previously listed for the Western Polissia. Of the 60 species of Lower Oribatida mites that have been recorded by other authors in that area, only 18 are found again in the Rivnensky Nature Reserve, indicating that our results are intermediate. A representative of the genus Mainothrus Choi, 1996 (Mainothrus badius (Berlese, 1905)) is found in Ukraine for the first time.

This paper exhibites species composition and distribution of marine seaweed at 10 sites of Co To and Thanh Lan islands in May 2019. The studies record 76 species of marine algae in the area, belonging to four divisions: Cyanophytes, Rhodophytes, Ochrophytes and Chlorophytes. Among them, five species are classified into Cyanophytes (comprising 6.6% of total species); thirty-four species into Rhodophytes (44.7%); twenty-one species into Ochrophytes/Phaeophytes (27.6%) and sixteen species into Chlorophytes (21.1%). The species composition of marine seaweeds in Co To and Thanh Lan shows significant differences as follows: 22 species (sites number 4 and 10) to 58 species (site number 2) and the average value is 38.7 species per site. Sørensen similarity coefficient fluctuates from 0.33 (sites number 5 and 10) to 0.84 (sites number 1 and 3) and the average value is 0.53. The current investigations show that four species of twenty-one species are collected in the littoral zone and forty-two species in the sub-littoral zone (in which there are thirteen species distributed in both littoral zone and sub-littoral zone). The algal flora in Co To and Thanh Lan is characterized by subtropics.
