This chapter covers the main functions and roles of operational management. In particular, problems related to the organization of the production process, including its continuous improvement, were raised. In addition, the role of resource management in an enterprise was discussed along with tools for optimizing resource allocation. The issues related to purchasing management, its changing importance over the last years, tasks and methods of organization were also described. The concept of production capacity was explained, as well as the methods of analysing production processes aimed at maximizing efficiency. The importance of inter-organizational cooperation, both in static and dynamic terms, was also outlined, with particular emphasis on barriers and benefits.

The contribution of the micro, small and medium enterprises sector to gross domestic product increased from 57.84 percent to 60.34 percent in the last five years. Uptake of labor in this sector also increased, from 96.99 percent to 97.22 percent in the same period. (http://www.kemenperin.go.id, 2018), Problems with MSMEs vary, especially for shoe MSMEs. The purpose of this study, 1) What is the performance of MSME shoes in Bogor; 2) What is the model of coaching that can be developed for MSME actors The results of the study show that 1) based on evaluation it is known that the attributes of the production process, production equipment, production control, buildings and facilities, markets, quality standardization, business management, capital, and promotion require improvement. Difficulties in terms of capital make the company still survive with conventional and manual technology, so that production capacity is also relatively limited. In addition, the company's bookkeeping system is still directly controlled by the owner of the company. 2) Shoe MSMEs need guidance in terms of production processes and production facilities. As well as assistance in terms of developing market share both domestically and abroad and developing promotions so that products are more widely known

Guala Closures Group is the world leader in the production of aluminum closures for the beverage industry, with interests in the spirits, wine, water, oil, vinegar and pharma market. The company holds 70+ active patents worldwide and the annual gross income is approx. 500M €. Guala Closures Group has been a proven industrial leader in its sector that not only is now the largest manufacturer of caps and closures worldwide with a production capacity of 14+ billion closures per year, but has many times lead the venture for innovation in the industry. The goal of this paper is to expose the production processes that stand behind Guala Closures Group, its products, the technological innovation and its success. The paper will begin with a thorough analysis of the current state of the art for the production process of aluminum closures. Secondly, the analysis will shift onto the key factor to success in the manufacturing world of aluminum closures: Drive for Innovation.

SummaryIn pursuing their plans economic agents regularly have to adjust their pacing of orders, production, and deliveries in unanticipated ways. Information constraints turn many of these adjustments into myopic reactions to accelerations/decelerations observed in the activity level of suppliers and/or customers. For analyzing the resulting dynamics, this note suggests a macroeconomic model derived from the idea of representing the adaptive interdependencies in terms of a system of integrated service channels. It sheds new light on what happens in stages of strained/exhausted production capacity and implies the possibility of cycles in aggregate output due to imperfectly synchronized production processes.

This paper reports a second-order structural equation model composed of four variables: the green attributes before and after an industrial production process, the operating benefits, the commercial benefits, and the economic benefits. The variables are related by means of five hypotheses and are validated statistically with information obtained from 559 responses to a questionnaire applied to the Mexican maquila industry. The model is evaluated using the technique of partial least squares and the results obtained indicate that the green attributes before and after the production process have a direct and positive effect on the obtained benefits, mostly on the operational ones. It is concluded that companies that are focused on increasing their greenness level must monitor and evaluate the existence of green attributes in their production process to guarantee benefits and make fast decisions if required due to deviations.

The proper management of the operations is fundamental to the companies' results, and, particularly, the continuous improvement in production processes is extremely important to raise the level of efficiency. The present study aimed to simulate the process of welding of a component called heat exchanger that makes up a gas water heater. Then, this simulation has the objective of optimizing the production process. The data collected were obtained from a company located in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo. The results of the simulation model point to opportunities for improvement, mainly in the direction of reducing work shifts.

The purpose of present study is to examine the role of learning strategies as moderator between meta-cognitive awareness and study habits among university students. Sample comprises of 200 students (100 male students and 100 female students) of various universities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi with age ranging from 18-25 years. In order to assess study variables questionnaires were used included Meta-Cognitive Awareness Inventory (Schraw & Dennison, 1994) measuring two-components of meta-cognition that are knowledge and regulation of cognition. Study habits demonstrated by the students were measured by the Study Habits Inventory (Wrenn, 1941). Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (Pintrich, Smith, Garcia, & McKeachie, 1991) which includes motivation and learning strategies scales. In the present study, only the learning strategies section was utilized, which measures the cognitive strategies and resource management strategies. Results revealed positive correlation between research instruments and are also having good reliability. Regression analysis reflected that meta-cognitive awareness predicts study habits among university students. Regression analysis also suggested that learning strategies including resource management strategies and cognitive strategies significantly moderates the relationship between meta-cognitive awareness and study habits. It is also explored gender differences on learning strategies, meta-cognitive awareness and study habits. Future implications of the study were also discussed.
