In positive psychology, we must challenge a common error of professional psychology, today: making diagnostic, treatment, and policy decisions primarily on deficiencies of the person instead of giving serious consideration to “deficits” and “strengths” of both person and environment. This mission may seem disheartening in that it requires greater rather than less cognitive complexity. Yet this multifaceted focus is crucial if two system concepts—whole person and behavior as a function of person in interaction with environment—are to betaken seriously (Lewin, 1935 ). Practice and research that fall short of attending to this person-environment interaction does a disservice to remedial possibilities and personal integrity. We have divided this chapter into two parts. In the first part, we present enlightening concepts together with supporting research. In the second part, we apply the insights gained to professional practice and research and make specific recommendations regarding each of the issues raised.

Drawing on 34 semi-structured interviews, this study investigates the temporality of family practices taking place in the hot spot. It does so by looking at how breakfast is inserted in the economy of family time in Italy. Our data show that breakfast, contrary to other meals, allows the adoption of more individualised and asynchronous practices, hinged on the consumption of convenience products. These time-saving strategies are normalised as part of doing family. Although the existing literature suggests that convenience and care are in opposition, and consumers of convenience products can experience anxiety and a lack of personal integrity, such features were not a dominant feature of our participants’ accounts. These findings suggest that the dichotomies of hot/cold spots and care/convenience are not always experienced in opposition when embedded within family practices. Hence, this study furthers understandings of family meals, temporality and the distinction between hot and cold spots.

The Impact

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the influence of personal values on students’ learning behaviours. Hong Kong construction students are often criticized, by both practitioners and educators, as rote learners. To improve students’ learning processes, extensive research on a variety of aspects of construction education has been conducted. However, limited attention has been paid to the influence of personal values on students’ learning behaviours. The impact of personal value factors on the learning approaches of Chinese construction students in Hong Kong is investigated. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire survey was conducted to ethically Chinese construction students in four universities in Hong Kong. A total of 820 questionnaires were distributed and 431 valid returns were collected. Findings – The survey identified six influential values (namely, personal integrity, conservatism, determination, discipline, interpersonal relationships, and achievement), and shows that students who emphasize the virtues of personal integrity, determination, and a positive attitude toward achievement are better able to handle their interpersonal relationships, which will eventually lead them to engage in deep learning. Originality/value – Work to develop appropriate value systems is thus recommended in freshmen courses, as is the use of cooperative learning approaches. Such value systems will have a long-term influence on the learning approaches of construction students.

The authors of the article consider the criminal- legal characteristics of crimes against representatives of the authorities, in particular, encroachment with the purpose of causing harm to the health, personal integrity, honor and dignity of a representative of the authorities. The definition of the term “representative of the authorities”is given. The main characteristics of a representative of the government are analyzed. Statistical data on the number of convictions and types of punishments in accordance with the provisions of articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Articles 318, 319) are summarized. Examples of judicial practice are considered. The ways of improving the criminal legislation are proposed.

Background and objectives: Conscience is a cornerstone of ethics, affecting both our private and professional lives. Everyday health care practice raises questions about conscience and how to understand its role. Conscience has also been described as inducing self-growth and protecting personal integrity. Nurses views on their reactions to behaviors consistent or contrary to conscience could therefore help us to understand the meaning of the reactions of conscience. This study aimed to illuminate meanings of nurses lived experience of conscience reaction in their daily practices.Material and methods: Interviews with nine nurses were interpreted using a phenomenological hermeneutic (Colaizzi, 1978) method. Data was collected in 2010 among nurses working in various hospitals in Kermanshah. The nurses were selected for participation purposively.Results: The nurses lived experience of conscience reaction was formulated in three themes and ten sub-themes. The first theme is ‘being peace, which includes three sub-themes: Being calm, being pleased, and being satisfying. The second theme is ‘trouble conscience’ which includes four subthemes: guilt, thinking engagement, discomfort, and fretfulness. The third theme is responding which includes three sub-themes: expressing, compensation, and lack of repeat.Conclusions: The nurses lived experience of conscience reaction showed that nurses considered conscience reaction to be an important factor in the exercise of their profession, as revealed by the descriptive categories: being peace when they act consistent with conscience; trouble conscience when they act contrary on conscience; and responding after doing an anti conscience practice. Later years and growing old is a natural process that is experienced by humans, slowly but surely going to happen and have a direct impact on the various aspects of life. Facts show various problems can occur because of unpreparedness of the elderly in accepting all the changes that happened. Supposedly the elderly should be able to complete the development tasks optimally and ultimately having personal integrity fully in receiving physical decline, and social well psikhis. The readiness of the elderly in receiving various reduction in the physical, psychological and social well can help achieve multidimensional health in living the rest of life in old age. Spiritual counseling approach with various techniques such as prayer, teaching the concepts of spiritual, scriptural references, spiritual experiences, spiritual confrontation, prayers shared between the client and the counselor, the urge to forgive, the use of community or religious groups, prayer client, religious bibliotherapy. Spiritual counseling approach is very appropriate for the elderly so that old age life more meaningful and they can fill their lives with things that are productive and useful.

<p>Breast ironing also known as breast flattening, has been considered as one of the most widespread and systematic violations of the universal human rights to personal integrity and sexual autonomy perpetuated against the girl child. This exhilarating practice which is typically carried out by the girl’s mother on the pretext of protecting the female child from teenage sexual harassment and rape, early pregnancy and dropping out of school is unfortunately done to protect family name. Employing the qualitative research approach and the expository analytic method, this research reveals that this practice has ensuring clinical, psychological and social consequences on the female victim. The paper considers this practice a rape based on the fact that the female victim’s consent is never sought. Natural sense of justice demands that the victim whose personality integrity and right to sexual autonomy was to be defiled and destroyed deserves to give an informed consent. Therefore, the paper concludes that this harmful practice is an abuse because it violently violates the girl child right full sexual autonomy and right to possess natural physiological endowment that adorns a woman. This paper therefore recommends that strict laws and penalties should be promulgated to totally abolish and eradicate this barbaric and horrific mutilation.</p>

On March 20, 2020, the Mexican health authorities decreed mandatory confinement, as one of the measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The strategy slowed down the contagion a bit, but it exposed the reality of family violence that has been present in our country for many years, alarmingly aggravated by economic pressure; the permanence of family members in confined spaces, for a long time; and the improvisation of areas for minors and adolescents to join remote education. Such circumstances caused chaos among family members, and the consequent repeated violation of the human rights of women, minors and the elderly. The situation generated by the pandemic has led to a review of the national, and international legal obligations contracted by the Mexican authorities, to guarantee the full exercise of the human rights of those who make up the families and avoid fatal consequences for their personal integrity. Various national and international institutions and organizations have documented the increase in family violence during the pandemic, and their results show the need to create public policies aimed at stopping this dizzying race, which threatens the dignity of people, and makes it urgent to grant protection adequate to the victims of this violence, which will only be achieved with a change in the cultural and educational paradigms of those who make up the different societies.

In this article, the motives and explanations for making The Code of Conduct for employees in the administration of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and proposals for content of that code, in form of theses, are given in six parts. In the first part common considerations on the characteristics of ethical rules are layed out. In the second one, the basic reasons and purpose for codification and implementation of ethical rules for employees in provincial administration are given. The third one contains considerations on the subject the codification of ethical rules is aimed at and on the process of internalization of those rules. In the fourth one, the content of ethical rules is proposed, related to the regulation of behavior of civil servants and relationships in provincial administration regarding the development of human resources and insurance of the personal integrity of civil servants, as well as establishing rules relating to the relationship to the work in civil service and to the civil service, to mutual relationships between civil servants and their relationships to citizens and to the publicity. In the fifth part the content of ethical rules regarding the relationships of civil servants to corruption behaviour is proposed. The sixth part contains the reasons and basic guidelines for making and implementing The Code of conduct for employees in provincial administration.
