The experiment comprising of four levels of phosphorus, i.e., 0, 20, 40 and 60 kg ha-1 and four levels of zinc, i.e., 0, 5, 10 and 15 kg ha-1 was conducted to investigate the interaction effect of phosphorus and zinc fertilization on yield and yield attributes of green gram [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] cv. SML-668. The treatments were laid out in Randomized Block Design (Factorial) with three replications. The results revealed that plant height, number of pods plant-1, 1000 seed weight, seed and stover yield were increased significantly up to 60 kg ha-1 phosphorus and 10 kg ha-1 zinc treatment levels. Further increase in zinc levels found to decrease the yield and yield attributing traits, indicating antagonistic effect of phosphorus and zinc on each other. The highest plant height, number of pods plant-1, 1000 seed weight, seed and stover yield (at 60 kg P ha-1 and 10 kg Zn ha-1 treatment level) were 48.70 cm, 27.15, 32.70 g, 957.25 and 2398.30 kg ha-1, respectively. Thus, interaction of phosphorus and zinc was significant for all the growth and yield attributing parameters.

Sulphur is a component of plant amino acids, proteins, vitamins, and enzyme structures which influence the productivity of oil seed and total oil content. The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of sulphur on the seed yield and oil content of sesame in Bangladesh. The experiment comprised three varieties of sesame viz. Binatil-2, Binatil-3 and BARI Til-4 and six levels of sulphur (S) viz. 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 kg S ha–1. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Dry matter production, crop characters, yield components, seed yield and oil content were significantly influenced by variety, level of sulphur and their interaction. The highest dry matter production plant–1 at 50 DAS (17.56 g), plant height (101.3 cm), number of branches plant–1 (3.66),  number of pods plant-1 (41.56), number of seeds pod-1 (58.83),  seed yield    (747.2 kg ha-1), stover yield (2243.0 kg ha–1) and oil content (40.03%) were obtained in BARI Til-4 while the corresponding lowest values of all parameters were recorded in Binatil-2. In case of sulphur application, the highest dry matter production plant–1 at 50 DAS (20.81 g), plant height (109.7 cm), number of branches plant–1 (3.87),  number of pods plant–1 (46.13),  number of seeds pod-1 (56.67),  seed yield (800.0 kg ha–1), stover yield (2787 kg ha–1 ) and oil content (43.97%) were obtained when crop was fertilized with 30 kg S ha–1 while the lowest seed yield (502.2 kg ha–1), stover yield (1550.0 kg ha–1) and oil content (32.80%) were obtained in control (0 kg S ha–1). BARI Til-4 fertilized with 30 kg S ha–1 produced the highest dry matter plant–1 at 50 DAS (24.80 g), number of pods plant–1 (51.13), seeds pod–1 (62.0) and seed yield (1011.0 kg ha–1). The highest oil content (43.97%) was also recorded in BARI Til-4 fertilized with 30 kg S ha–1, which was as good as that of BARI Til-4 fertilized with 40 kg S ha–1. Therefore, BARI Til-4 fertilized with 30 kg S ha–1 can be considered as a promising practice in respect of seed yield and oil content of sesame in Bangladesh. J. Bangladesh Agril. Cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicon var cerasiforme) is small size fruits, with a bright red colour resembling to cherry and becoming popular in the retail chains which are marketed at a premium price. The field experiment was conducted to study the effect of different (35, 50 and 75 per cent) shading intensities on growth and yield (qha-1 ) of cherry tomato. Significantly maximum yield was recorded in 35 per cent shading intensity and genotype Kalash Seeds Product (KSP)-113 (579.44 and 503.88 q ha-1 , respectively). Among the different shading intensities and genotypes, maximum plant height was observed in 75 per cent shading intensity and genotype KSP -113 at 30 days interval (74.70 and 60.95 cm, respectively). The minimum days to 50% flowering of cherry tomato were observed in cherry tomatoes grown under 35 per cent shading intensity (45.00 days) as compared to other shading intensities while minimum days to 50% flowering were observed in genotype KSP-113 (44.00 days). The maximum length of the cluster (9.58 cm), the weight of cluster (27.67 g), number of fruits per cluster (9.42) and number of pickings (11.67) were observed in 35 per cent shading intensities and in genotype KSP-113. The cultivation of KSP-113 genotype under 35 per cent shading intensity was found to be most sustainable for improving growth and yield of cherry tomato during the summer season.

A field experiment was carried out at Spices Research Centre, Shibgonj, Bogra during two consecutive years, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 to evaluate the response of integrated nutrient management on nutrient uptake, protein content and seed yield of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) var. BARI Fenugreek-2. The field experiment was conducted in combination with inorganic fertilizer and organic manure. The result showed that the treatment T7 compeises application of PM @ 4 t ha-1 + CF (IPNS) produced the maximum seed yield (2.1 t ha-1) but statistically identical to T8 (VC @ 3 t ha-1 + CF (IPNS) and T6 (CD 5 @ ha-1 + CF (IPNS). In case of stover yield, the treatment T7 produced the highest yield (4.89 t ha-1). The grain yield was increased over control and ranged between 65.85 to 156.10 %.The treatments T7 and T8 resulted in higher nutrient use efficiency along with higher N, P, K and S uptake by the plant. The application of inorganic fertilizer along with manure influenced the nutrient concentration in fenugreek seed and stover yield. The higher seed with N, P, K and S concentrations were observed in the treatments where poultry manure @ 4 t ha-1 applied in combination with chemical fertilizers. The combined application of fertilizer and organic manure increased the organic carbon (OC %), organic matter (OM %), total N, available P and available S in post harvest soils. The findings indicate that the integrated use of inorganic fertilizer and organic manure should be encouraged to improvement the deteriorating soil fertility and increased crop yield of fenugreek.SAARC J. The experiment comprising of four levels of phosphorus, i.e., 0, 20, 40 and 60 kg ha-1 and three levels of sulphur, i.e., 0, 15 and 30 kg ha-1, was conducted during summer of 2015-16 to investigate the interaction effect of phosphorus and sulphur application on nutrients uptake and yield of black gram cv. Uttara. The treatments were laid in randomized block design (Factorial) with three replications. The results revealed utmost concentration and uptake of phosphorus in seed (0.376% and 3.59 kg ha-1) and stover (0.266% and 6.38 kg ha-1) and sulphur in seed (0.397% and 3.79 kg ha-1) and stover (0.134% and 3.21 kg ha-1) with combined application of phosphorus 60 kg and sulphur 30 kg ha-1, indicating synergistic effect of phosphorus and sulphur on nutrient uptake, respectively. The results also revealed that combined application of phosphorus and sulphur showed synergistic effect on seed and stover yield of black gram with increasing levels of phosphorus and sulphur up to highest level as both the nutrients mutually help absorption and utilization by black gram probably due to balanced nutrition. The seed and stover yield were 955.50 and 2398.30 kg ha-1 with combined application of phosphorus 60 kg and sulphur 30 kg ha-1. The yield attributes of black gram viz., plant height, number of pods plant-1 and 100 seeds weight also increased significantly with increasing levels of phosphorus and sulphur up to highest level and the optimum values were recorded with combined application of phosphorus 60 kg and sulphur 30 kg ha-1. However, non-significant response of phosphorus and sulphur application has been observed in case of plant population (m-2).
