Evaluation of some insecticides against pigeonpea pod fly Melanagromyza obtusa Mall

The present investigation was conducted during <italic>kharif</italic> 2011-12 on field of Department of Agricultural Entomology, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The experiment was planned in randomized block design with gross plot size 4.2 x 4.4 m<sup>2</sup> and net plot size 3.0 x 4.0 m<sup>2</sup> with twelve treatments replicated thrice with the object to study the effect of some insecticides against pigeonpea pod fly, <italic>Melanagromyza obtuse</italic>. In evaluation studyten treatments were tested against pod fly, <italic>Melanagromyza obtuse</italic>. on pigeonpea. The result revealed that treatment Deltamethrin 1 EC + Triazophos 35 EC emerged as the most effective treatment against <italic>M. obtusa</italic> in minimizing the damage to green and drypods as well as grains. Thiaclopride 21.7 SC and Profenophos 50 EC were found significantly effective in minimizing the cumulative mean per cent infestation of pod flyof pigeonpea. These findings indicate that the pigeonpea crop required two sprays of newer insecticides from pod initiation stage at 15 days interval for the management of pigeonpea pod fly, <italic>Melanagromyza obtusa.</italic>

<p>The Development of Core Collection for Rice Genetic Resources Tolerant to Drought. The experiment was conducted in dry season, July-September 2009 at the research farm in Jakenan, Central Java and planted in randomized block design (RBD) arrangement by using 150 accessions with the plot size of 5 m x 1 m, with plant spacing 25 cm x 20 cm and three replications. Another experiment used as control and grown as upland rice without drought stresses by watering twice in a week was planted in RBD arrangement with two replications, plot size 5 m x 1 m and spacing 25 cm x 20 cm. The results showed that 26 varieties were selected for sub core collection for drought tolerance. Jatiluhur and B.9645-E-Mr-89 had the highest yield potential respectively 3,88 dan 3,77 t/h. All of the varieties with tolerant to drought were selected for core collection. This would be very important as they could be directly grown by farmers as tolerant varieties or used as sources of gene in the breeding program to improve varieties for drought tolerant with high yielding potential.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Pembentukan core collection untuk sumber daya genetik padi toleran kekeringan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada musim kemarau, Juli-September 2009 di Kebun Penelitian Balai Penelitian Lingkungan Pertanian Jakenan, Jawa Tengah, dengan rancangan acak kelompok, tiga ulangan, menggunakan 150 aksesi yang ditanam pada petak berukuran 5 m x 1 m. Tanaman disiram setiap tiga hari sekali sampai tumbuh baik dan setelah berumur 25 hari tanaman mulai dikeringkan. Sebagai petak pembanding adalah tanaman padi gogo biasa yang disiram setiap dua seminggu sekali sampai panen. Pertanaman pembanding ditanam dengan jarak 25 cm x 20 cm. Dari penelitian ini terpilih 26 varietas toleran kekeringan dengan skor 1-5. Di antara aksesi ini terdapat varietas yang berumur genjah dan sedang (115-135 hari), sehingga waktu panennya agak berbeda. Varietas Jatiluhur dan galur B.9645- E-Mr-89 mempunyai potensi hasil paling tinggi, masingmasing 3,88 dan 3,77 t/ha dan toleran terhadap kekeringan. Aksesi yang toleran terhadap kekeringan terutama yang mempunyai potensi hasil tinggi, dapat langsung digunakan oleh petani atau sebagai sumber gen dalam perakitan varietas unggul toleran kekeringan dan berpotensi hasil tinggi.</p>

<p>ABSTRAK<br />Penelitian untuk mendapatkan klon-klon unggul rami untuk lahan di<br />antara pohon kelapa, telah dilaksanakan pada bulan April 1999 - Maret<br />2000, di lahan kebun plasma PIR-Kelapa 5 (NES 5) Desa Mekarsari,<br />Kecamatan Cimerak, Kabupaten Ciamis, Jawa Barat. Tanaman kelapa<br />hibrida ditanam pada tahun 1993/1994 dengan jarak tanam 9 m x 9 m, dan<br />sudah berproduksi. Perlakuan terdiri dari 12 klon rami yang disusun dalam<br />rancangan acak kelompok dan diulang 3 kali. Klon-klon tersebut adalah<br />Pujon 10, Pujon 13, Bandung A, Pujon 9, Pujon 902, Indochina, Kotaraja,<br />Japan I, Hakuki, Padang 3, Jawa Timur 3-0 dan Pujon 601. Bibit/rhizoma<br />ditanam dengan jarak tanam 50 cm x 80 cm satu stek per lubang, pada plot<br />berukuran 4 m x 9 m. Kapur dan pupuk kandang diberikan bersamaan<br />dengan pengolahan tanah dengan dosis masing-masing 2 ton dan 20 ton<br />per hektar. Sedangkan pupuk buatan diberikan pada 10 hari setelah tanam<br />dengan dosis 200 kg urea + 150 kg SP-36 + 100 kg KC1 per hektar.<br />Pemupukan selanjutnya dilakukan 7-10 hari setiap sehabis panen/pangkas<br />dengan dosis yang sama. Panen pertama dilakukan pada 70 HST,<br />sedangkan panen berikutnya setiap dua bulan sekali. Pengamatan pada<br />sebelum dan sesudah panen dilakukan terhadap tinggi tanaman, diameter<br />batang, jumlah anakan per rumpun, bobot brangkasan segar, bobot batang<br />segar dan bobot kering china grass. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa<br />klon Pujon 10, Pujon 13, Padang 3, Bandung A dan Indochina merupakan<br />klon-klon yang memiliki daya adaptasi tinggi di lahan antara pohon kelapa<br />di Ciamis sampai dengan panen ke empat.<br />Kata kunci: Rami, Boehmeria nivea L. Coconut trees in the experiment location were planted in 1993/1994<br />with plant spacing 9 x 9 m and have already producted. Twelve rami<br />clones viz. Organic<br />fertilizers were applied 10 days after planting 200 kg urea •+• 150 kg SP-36<br />+ 100 kg KC1 per hectare. The next fertilizing was conducted 7 - 10 days<br />every after harvest with the same doses. The first harvesting time was 70<br />days after planting and the folowing harvests were conducted every two<br />months. Parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, plant<br />number per scrub, fresh wight biomass, stem fresh wight and chinagrass<br />dry weight. Research result indicated that ramie clones viz. Pujon 10,<br />Pujon 13, Padang 3, Bandung A, and Indochina, were more adaptable in<br />coconut plantation in Ciamis, West Java, up to the fourth harvest.<br />Ramie, Boehmeria nivea L. <p>The Pegagan rice (Siputih) is one of local rice lowland specific in South Sumatra. This rice is rarely grown by farmers. Identification was carried out at lowland Agroecosystem in Ogan Komering Ilir Distric of South Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study was to characterize on morphological and agronomic characters. The study was conducted by planting and observing the local rice Pegagan (Siputih) which collected from five different districts (Tanjung Raja, Indralaya, Jejawi, SP Padang, and Kayuagung). All materials were tested using Randomized Block Design Complete with four replications. Each plot size 5 m × 5 m, number of seeds/holes 2–3 rod, a spacing of 25 cm × 25 cm. The characterization was done based on Rice Characterization and Evaluation Guide of the National Commission for Rice Germplasm. Morphological characters were presented in qualitative data and analyzed by Mode (Mo) analysis, while the agronomic characters were showed on quantitative data and analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The observation and analysis were indicated that the five local rice Pegagan (Siputih) which collected from 5 different district were showed no diversity, both on morphology and agronomic characters. Paralele on characterization planting, roughing was done and detected 0.15% mixed with others varieties and 1.85% plant have the deviation characters.</p>

This research aims to determine the most effective concentration of clove oil and the best period in the transportation of swordtail (Xiphophorius helleri) with the highest survival rate. This research used the factorial randomized block design (FRBD) which consisting of four treatments of concentration (10 x 10-3 mL, 13 x 10-3 mL, 16 x 10-3 mL), three treatments of duration (3 hours, 5 hours, 7 hours), and repeated three times. The measured parameters are induction time, conscious recovery time, and survival rate after transportation. The results showed that the treatment of 10 x 10-3 mL with the duration of 5 hours was an effective treatment with an average induction time of 17 minutes 56 seconds, a conscious recovery time of 7 minutes 37 seconds, the survival rate of 100% at post-transportation and after 7 days of rearing is 83%. Water quality after transportation are temperature (24.6 ℃), DO (14.72 mg / L), pH (6.42) and ammonia (0.0043 mg/L).

The aim of this study was determining the optimum plot size to evaluate the fresh matter of aerial part in flax (Linum usitatissimum L.), in scenarios formed by combinations of numbers of treatments, number of repetitions, and precision levels. The fresh matter of aerial part was weighed on 144 basic experimental units of 1.00 m × 1.00 m in uniformity trial with size of 12 m × 12 m (144 m2). It was estimated the soil heterogeneity index of Smith (1938). Also, the optimum plot size was determined by the Hatheway’s method (1961) in scenarios formed by combinations of i treatments (i = 5, 10, 15, and 20), r repetitions (r = 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 8, 9, and 10), and d precision levels (d = 10%, 12%, 14%, 16%, 18%, 20%, 22%, 24%, 26%, 28%, 30%, 32%, 34%, 36%, 38%, and 40%). In experiments planned on randomized block design, with 5 to 20 treatments and four repetitions, plots with 7 m2 are sufficient to identify significant differences between treatments regarding fresh matter of aerial part in flax, at 5% probability, of 34% of the experiment overall mean.

<p>Resistance of Cotton Germplasms Against Sucking Insect Pest, Amrasca biguttula (ISHIDA). IGAA. Indrayani and Siwi Sumartini. Morphological characteristics of cotton leaf have an important role on the resistance against sucking insect pest. Among the characters, leaf hair density is the most important in preventing the attack of sucking insect and it can be used to identify the resistance of cotton germplasms against sucking insect pest, A. biguttula. Study on resistance of cotton germplasms against sucking insect pest, A. biguttula (Ishida) was carried out at Asembagus Experimental Station of Indonesian Tobacco and Fiber Crops Research Institute (IToFCRI) in Malang from January to December 2009. The objective of study was to find out resistant cotton germplasms to A. biguttula. Fifty accessions of cotton germplasm were used as treatment and arranged in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. Plot size used was 10 m x 3 m that consists of two rows of tested accession and one row of Tamcot SP 37 as an atractant plant for A. biguttula. Parameters observed were leaf hair density, length of hair, population of A. biguttula nymph, and plant damage. Cotton accessions with higher hair density and length of leaf hair significantly reduced the frequency of action threshold population of A. biguttula and plant damage. Eleven cotton accessions, viz., SATU 65; VAR 78443; Sukothai 14; GM5U/4/2; Samir 730; L1; L4 x Rex/1; Paymaster 404; ISA 205B; Albar 72B; dan Tashkent 2 were showed more resistant to A. biguttula because of higher leaf hair density (121-360 hairs/cm2), lower nymph population (0-2 times of population threshold) and lower damage score (1.0-1.8). These cotton accessions could be promising to be genetic resources of resistance to sucking insect pest, A. biguttula.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Karakteristik morfologi daun kapas mempunyai peran penting pada ketahanan terhadap hama pengisap. Di antara sifat morfologi tersebut, kerapatan bulu daun sangat berperan dalam menghambat serangan pengisap sehingga sifat ini dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi aksesi kapas yang tahan A. biguttula. Penelitian ketahanan aksesi kapas terhadap hama pengisap, A. biguttula dilakukan di KP. Asembagus Balai Penelitian Tanaman Tembakau dan Serat mulai Januari hingga Desember 2009. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan aksesi kapas tahan A. biguttula. Sebanyak 50 aksesi kapas digunakaan sebagai perlakuan yang masing-masing disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tiga kali ulangan. Ukuran petak adalah 10 m x 3 m yang terdiri atas 2 baris aksesi yang diuji dan 1 baris Tamcot SP 37 sebagai tanaman penarik A. biguttula. Parameter yang diamati adalah kerapatan (jumlah) bulu daun, panjang bulu daun, populasi nimfa A. biguttula, dan skor kerusakan tanaman. Aksesi dengan kerapatan bulu daun yang tinggi dan berbulu panjang secara nyata menurunkan frekuensi pencapaian populasi ambang kendali dan kerusakan tanaman. Sebelas aksesi kapas dengan jumlah bulu berkisar 121-360 helai/cm2, populasi nimfa rendah (frekuensi ambang rendah, 0-2 kali) dan skor kerusakan rendah (1,0-1,8) adalah SATU 65; VAR 78443; Sukothai 14; GM5U/4/2; Samir 730; L1; L4 x Rex/1; Paymaster 404; ISA 205B; Albar 72B; dan Tashkent 2. Aksesi ini berpotensi sebagai materi genetik untuk ketahanan terhadap A. biguttula.</p>

<p>Percobaan lapang telah dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan Pekuwon, Bojonegoro, 1992, untuk mcmpelajai sifat-sifat agronomis dan kimiawi tembakau pada berbagai waktu tanam sorgum pada sistem tumpangsai tembakau + sorgum. Percobaan disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok dengan enam ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dai 5 taraf waktu tanam sorgum yaitu 4 dan 2 minggu sebelum tanam tembakau, bersamaan dengan waktu tanam tembakau, 2 dan 4 minggu setelah tanam tembakau. Ukuran petak 10.8 m x 12.0 m. dengan 240 tanaman tembakau per petak dan 720 tanaman sorgum per petak. Analisis N, P, K, nikotin, dan gula beturut- turut dengan Kyeldhal, Spektrofotometi, Flamefotometi, Titrasi dengan NaOH dan Luff-Schroll. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa dengan mempcrcepat waktu tanam sorgum dari 4 minggu setelah tanam tembakau menjadi 4 minggu sebelum tanam tembakau sangat menurunkan pertumbuhan, hasil dan mutu. Scbaliknya perlakuan tersebut meningkat¬ kan kadar N-total, P, dan K, dan hasil sorgum tumpangsai, serta tidak berpengaruh pada kadar nikotin, gula, nisbah/nikotin, dan N/nikotin tembakau. Pada keadaan kering yang dialami oleh percobaan ini walaupun hasil tembakau rendah namun mutu hasil masih dalam kisaran yang baik dan persaingan dikuasai oleh tanaman sorgum.</p><p>Kata kunci: Nicotiana tabacum, sorgum bicolor, tumpangsai, waktu tanam</p><p> </p><p><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p><p><strong>Agronomics and chemicals properties of tobacco under different planting dates ofsorghum in tobacco -Horghum intercropping system</strong></p><p>The ield expeiment was conducted at Pekuwon Expeimental Station, Bojonegoro, in 1992, to study the agronomic and chemical propeties of tobacco grown under diferent planting dates of sorghum in tobacco+sorghum intercropping system. The expeiment was arranged in randomized block design, with 6 replications. The treatment consisted of 5 levels of sorghum planting, 2 and 4 weeks ater tobacco planting. Plot size was 10.8 m x 12.0 m, with 240 and 720 plants of tobacco and sorghum respectively. The methods for analyses N, P, K, nicotine and sugar analyses were Kyeldhal, Spectrophotometry, Flame photometry, Titration with NaOH, and Luf-Schroll, respectively. The growth, yield, and quality of tobacco were decreased sharply, but the N, P, K contents of the leaves were increased by accelerating planting date of sorghum from 4 weeks ater to 4 weeks before tobacco planting. The content of nicotine, sugar, sugar/nicotine. N/nicotine of the leaves were not afected by this treatment. In dry condition, although the yield of tobacco was low, but the quality was in good category, and the competition in tobacco ♦ sorghum intercropping system was dominated by sorghum.</p><p>Key words : Nicotiana tabacum, sorghum bicolor, intercropping, planting date</p>

This study aims to determine the growth of various soybean varieties on Ultisol soil, especially on Ultisol soils in Kutacane. The study was conducted in Gulo Village, Darul Hasanah District, Southeast Aceh Regency, Aceh Province with hilly topography, from May to September 2019 at an altitude of 3200 asl. The study used a Non Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD), with 4 treatment varieties (V) repeated in 4 replications with 63 plants per plot with 7 samples per plot. The plot size  is 3 m x 2 m with 30 x 20 cm spacing. The total number of plants was 1008, while the total number of sample plants was 112 plants. There are 4 soybean varieties: (V1) Anjasmoro, (V2) Dena1, (V3) Deja 1, and  (V4) Detap 1. The parameters observed in this study during vegetative period include plant height at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 week after planting. The plant height were measured from the base of the stem to the highest leaf. The result is that each variety has a different response to the environment so that the growth, flowering period, and harvest period are also different on Ultisol soil especially in District of Southeast Aceh.

Six wild chickpea accessions were procured during Rabi seasons 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to record morpho-physiological parameters and yield components at pod initiation stage. The experiment was carried out in randomized block design with two treatments irrigated and rainfed each with three replicates. Results indicated a significant decrease in the specific leaf weight (SLW), photosynthetic rate (PR) and relative water content (RWC) under rainfed conditions in wild chickpea accessions. Wild accessions C judaicum 17148 (29.5%) and C pinnatifidum212 (31.0%)displayed their resistance towards water scarcity by maintaining high relative water content that depicted negative correlation with membrane damage (r=-0.98).The membrane damage showed an inversely proportional relationship (r=-0.69) with seed weight, a yield component under rainfed conditions evidencing the requirement of water at pod filling stage.

ABSTRAK<br />Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis dan<br />komposisi pupuk NPK terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi jambu mete<br />yang ditanam pada tanah regosol cokelat-kelabu di Desa Loloan,<br />Kecamatan Bayan, Lombok Barat, dari tahun 1997 sampai 2000. Faktor<br />yang diuji adalah: (1) komposisi NPK, 2 macam (1:1:1, dan 1:1:2); dan (2)<br />dosis pupuk, 4 taraf (500, 750, 1000 dan 1500 g/pohon/tahun). Perlakuan<br />disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok dengan 4 ulangan dan ukuran<br />petak 4 pohon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman jambu mete<br />cukup responsif terhadap pemupukan. Pemberian pupuk menaikkan<br />kandungan hara N, P dan K daun. Dosis pupuk yang cukup memadai untuk<br />menunjang pertumbuhan dan produksi jambu mete adalah 500, 750, dan<br />1000 g NPK/pohon/tahun dengan komposisi pupuk NPK 1:1:2, masing-<br />masing untuk umur tanaman 5, 6, dan 7 tahun. Pupuk tersebut diberikan<br />dalam 2 kali agihan, yaitu 50% pada awal musim hujan, dan 50% lagi<br />menjelang akhir musim hujan.<br />Kata kunci : Jambu  mete,  Anacardium  occidentale,  pemupukan,<br />pertumbuhan, produksi, Nusa Tenggara Barat<br />ABSTRACT<br />Effect of fertilizer application on the growth and yield of<br />cashew in Lombok<br />A field study was conducted on cashew trees grown at grayish-<br />brown regosol soil located at Loloan, Bayan, West Lombok, from 1997 to<br />2000. The objectives of the study were to examine the effect of NPK<br />fertilizer and its composition on growth and yield of cashew. Treatments<br />examined were: (1) composition of NPK (1:1:1, and 1:1:2); and (2)<br />fertilizer dosage (500, 750, 1000 and 1500 g NPK/tree/year). The<br />treatments were arranged in a randomized block design with 4 replications<br />and plot size of 4 plants. Research results showed that the application of<br />fertilizers significantly affected the growth and yield of cashew. The<br />content of N, P and K in cashew leaves improved as the fertilizer dosage<br />increased. Appropriate amounts of NPK were 500, 750 and 1000 g<br />NPK/tree/year with composition of 1:1:2 for cashew trees of 5, 6 and 7<br />years old, respectively.
