This writing aims to improve students' understanding by modifying learning models with appropriate learning strategies that are considered based on the characteristics and intellectual development of students to improve learning outcomes. The learning process in Indonesia is currently still centered on teachers which causes students' memory and understanding to be still low. This is the background for the purpose of mind mapping learning models, namely making patterned visual and graphical subject matter that can help strengthen and recall information that has been studied. The selection of the right learning strategy can improve the results that will be obtained from the application of learning models in the classroom. Forced and forced learning strategies are chosen to complement and perfect the implementation of mind mapping learning models in the classroom. This strategy aims to train students' independence and discipline in learning through assignments given with clear time limits and strict penalties if there are students not completing their assignments properly. The combination of mind mapping learning models with forced and task learning strategies can be an alternative to improve the quality of learning in schools. With the increase in thinking power accompanied by student discipline in learning, the learning process in the classroom will run well and get maximum results so that the objectives of the learning can be achieved. For educators it is recommended to implement mind mapping learning models with forced and forced learning strategies in schools, so that learning objectives can be achieved optimally.

The study aimed to test the effectiveness of blended learning using wiki in developing written expression skills for sixth grade students. The researcher used the quasi-experimental approach. To achieve this, the researcher adopted an achievement test and a list of skills for written expression (Soliman, 2016) that was previously presented to a group of specialized referees to ensure their validity. And the test reliability is calculated by internal consistency. The study sample was divided into two experimental groups that included 30 students who studied the description lesson in the book My Writing Skills through the application of wiki, and a control sample of 30 students studied the same lesson in the traditional way, and after completing the experiment, a written expression skills test was applied to the two groups. The results indicated that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05≥α) between the mean scores of the two experimental groups and obtained an overall average (34.57 out of 42), in contrast to the control receiving an overall average (30.33 out of 42), in a test attributed to the blended learning strategy. By using wiki, and in basic skills of written expression, where the experimental in the content skill got an average (14.7 out of 18) and the control got (12.8) and in the skill of form and organization; Empiric got average (7.77 out of 9), control (7.33), and finally language and style skill; The experimental got a mean (12.1 out of 15), while the control (10.2). The differences were statistically significant in the skills of content, language and style in favor of the experimental group, while the differences between the two groups were not significant in the skill of form and organization, Based on these results, the researcher recommended paying attention to developing written expression skills among students by adopting blended learning using wiki and training Arabic language teachers on how to use it, in addition to expanding the use of blended learning strategy using wiki to teach other Arabic language skills such as reading and grammar.

Proficiency in English language depends on the knowledge of its vocabulary possessed by the second and foreign language learners and even the native speakers. Though developing the vocabulary is vital, it poses several problems, especially, to non-native students of English. Students with a low vocabulary knowledge show weak academic performance in different courses related to the language skills, linguistics, literature, and translation at the university level of education. This study, in particular, aims to investigate the problems faced by English majors in learning the vocabulary at Prince Stattam bin Abdulaziz University (PSAU) in Saudi Arabia. It also puts forward some vocabulary-learning strategies to minimize the potential problems. The data consist of the responses of 100 student-participants (undergraduates) randomly picked up from five different levels (four, five, six, seven, and eight) of 4-Year BA English Program at PSAU. This quantitative study uses an online questionnaire, as an instrument, to collect the data. The results reveal that the English majors at PSAU face several problems in learning the vocabulary such as knowing the meanings of new words, pronouncing new words, using new words correctly, memorizing and spelling new vocabulary and so on. To its contribution, this study emphasizes the importance of learning the English vocabulary, draws students’ attention towards it, highlights the problems encountered by students, and raises their awareness of the vocabulary.
