This paper includes a comprehensive case that details a simplified business system for the Drifters Snowboard Company. We include a description of the business processes of Drifters relative to the data needs which includes an entity-relationship (ER) dia-gram and a unified modeling language (UML) diagram. Both diagrams are con-structed to compare and contrast each method and to give those that perform modeling tasks a sense of some of the real world issues that are involved. In the past ten years, object-orientation has become viable and important in both the modeling and implementation arenas. Programming languages such as C++ and Java incorporate object-oriented (O-O) features and database management systems (DBMS) such as O2, ObjectStore, Poet, etc. and are advertised as "pure" O-O DBMS. Conversely, some systems such as Oracle, DB2, Sybase, SQL Serve,r etc. have incorporated some O-O features into essentially relational database technology in order to remain competitive. On the modeling dimension, the entity-relationship (E/R) diagramming method with its notable variants has been dominant for more than 20 years. This is probably due to its simplicity and its power to accurately represent the data needs of nearly all applica-tions. In the last 10 years however, O-O modeling has become increasingly popular because it correlates nicely to O-O implementations and because its modeling power is requisite for the greater complexity inherit in contemporary information systems. Re-cently, UML has become the de facto O-O modeling variant, so hence, we illustrate UML in the same case we use ER diagramming. The comparison and contrast is useful to those who are migrating to UML data modeling.

The Entity-Relationship (ER) method is the most popular method for relational database design. On the other hand, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is widely used in object- oriented analysis and design. Despite the increasing use of object-oriented techniques for software design and development, there is a large installed base of relational databases. Additionally, object-oriented databases are still not in widespread use. Thus, software designers and developers often turn to the relational databases to make their application objects persistent. Considering the fundamental differences between the two methods, the transformation from UML to a relational data model could be a non-trivial task. The purpose of this chapter is to describe a process that can be used to map a UML class diagram into an ER diagram, and to discuss the potential of using the UML notation to draw ER diagrams. An example of an actual systems design is used throughout to illustrate the mapping process, the associated problems encountered, and how they could be resolved.

Companies that are engaged in general trading, suppliers and distributors for the procurement of goods or equipment and services to assist the operations and management of companies, especially improving company services in the field of drinking water are still using manual systems, where data is reported in written form, making it difficult , ineffective and efficient in inputting data and searching for goods. Therefore, this study proposes making a control inventory system to create a faster, more precise and accurate system. The analysis and modeling systems for programs use unified modeling language (UML) as a tool to help in object-oriented programming languages which are then implemented with the php programming language and use MySQL as a database. From this study, an inventory system can be produced that can monitor stock of goods in the warehouse properly, effectively and efficiently so that it can support services and improve customer satisfaction.

Warehousing data processing based on products entering and leaving the expedition in Super Tata Raya Steel companies has several obstacles in the delivery of information. Data management carried out by the warehouse section of the company is still manual, especially in terms of the recording and bookkeeping system of product receipts and shipments. In dealing with these problems, this research uses several stages among observation, analysis, planning and design methods with object-oriented approaches that use UML (Unified Modeling Language). So that this research can develop it into a system design in the form of web-based applications using the PHP and MySQL programming languages. The existence of a new system aims to support business-to-business between the expedition services with the company and to reduce the occurrence of errors during warehousing data processing then data management becomes faster and more accurate so that the resulting report is in accordance with the existing data. Therefore, this research can be used as a support for the leadership's decision in determining business patterns in the warehousing sector, so management of company services become effective and efficient

The process of managing spare parts supply data at this time in some companies is still ineffective, because the process is still manually using ledgers to archive data that has been managed, this requires a long time so it is not efficient. To overcome the above problems, a computerized system is needed so that it can overcome problems and speed up the process. Therefore, this study proposes the design of a system of providing spare parts automatically based on various methods of data collection, analysis using PIECES to evaluate system performance and design which includes UML (Unified Modeling Language) as a tool to help object-oriented programming languages and use MySQL as a database , which in the end will produce a system that is well integrated. So from this research it is useful to facilitate the process of achieving company targets and to streamline the quality control system on production machines.

Over the past two decades, the Entity-Relationship (ER) method has become the most popular and widely used method for conceptual database design. On the other hand, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is widely used in the object-oriented analysis and design world. Despite the dominance of object-oriented techniques during the software development design and development phase, object-oriented databases are still not in widespread use. Software designers and developers often turn to the relational databases to make their application objects persistent. This adds one more task in the ‘to-do’ list of the designer: to map objects into entities. Considering the fundamental differences between the two methods, this task could be a non-trivial task. The purpose of this chapter is to describe a process that can be used to map a class diagram into an ER diagram, and to discuss the potential of using the UML notation to draw the ER diagrams. An example of an actual systems design is used throughout to illustrate the mapping process, the associated problems encountered and how they could be resolved.

Due to the complex timing sequence of NAND flash, a unified design process is urgently required to guarantee the reliability of storage system of nano-satellite. Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a widely used high level modeling language for object-oriented design. This paper adopts the UML as the design and modelling tool in the low level storage system design to elaborate the UML application in each phase of design in detail. The result shows taking UML as the modelling tool results in a clear and unambiguity design, which promotes the reliability and quality of software. At last, the feasibility of object-oriented implementation in C is presented.

Information systems built in the form of social media and the internet make us able to carry out various activities without having to meet face to face. Social media is currently the main attraction for people to communicate and find information quickly. This is a great opportunity for companies to reach and expand their market. With an information system built in the form of social media and the internet, all obstacles, both distance and high costs, can be suppressed and communication can be carried out effectively. So far, PT. Red Eye Utama conducts marketing through radio advertisements, newspapers / billboards, this is what causes problems, due to limited space and time, as well as high costs to carry out all these processes. The negotiation process between the company and the customer is one of the obstacles that affects the company's service to customers. Therefore, one solution to the problems in this system is to build a Social Media Advertise Maintenance Information System. By using PIECES method analysis for improvements based on performance indicators, indicator information, economic indicators, control indicators, efficiency indicators and service indicators. To design the new system, object-oriented modeling is used, namely UML (Unified Modeling Language) which is the right tool to use in describing the system design that will be made according to User needs.
