This contribution examines the poetess Telesilla of Argo, as one of the few names that came from female Greek lyric, in which we can find precise information, despite the small number of verses that have come. Through the testimonies, we focus here on the myths mentioned by the poetess as a precious documentation of the Cults practiced in the Peloponnese’s area, often linked to the Apollo. The image of the warrior woman who saves her city is contextualized, more realistically, in a frame of female ritual performances. The contribution concludes with some indications on the well-known battle of Sepeia, fought against Sparta (6th-5th century) according to different versions. The sources are Herodoto and Pausanias, as well as the entry “Telesilla” of the Suda lexicon. The historicity of the battle remains problematic, but especially compelling for the question of the Argive women, who have the protection of an armed and bearded, almost masculine Aphrodite.

Abstract. Some people, although they are perfectly healthy and happy, cannot enjoy music. These individuals have musical anhedonia, a condition which can be congenital or may occur after focal brain damage. To date, only a few cases of acquired musical anhedonia have been reported in the literature with lesions of the temporo-parietal cortex being particularly important. Even less literature exists on congenital musical anhedonia, in which impaired connectivity of temporal brain regions with the Nucleus accumbens is implicated. Nonetheless, there is no precise information on the prevalence, causes or exact localization of both congenital and acquired musical anhedonia. However, the frequent involvement of temporo-parietal brain regions in neurological disorders such as stroke suggest the possibility of a high prevalence of this disorder, which leads to a considerable reduction in the quality of life.

Security measures that deter crime may unwittingly displace it to neighboring areas, but evidence of displacement is scarce. We exploit precise information on the timing and locations of all Italian bank robberies and security guard hirings/firings over a decade to estimate deterrence and displacement effects of guards. A guard lowers the likelihood a bank is robbed by 35-40%. Over half of this reduction is displaced to nearby unguarded banks. Theory suggests optimal policy to mitigate this spillover is ambiguous. Our findings indicate restricting guards in sparse, rural markets and requiring guards in dense, urban markets could be socially beneficial.

We introduce multifractal pressure and dynamical multifractal zeta-functions providing precise information of a very general class of multifractal spectra, including, for example, the fine multifractal spectra of graph-directed self-conformal measures and the fine multifractal spectra of ergodic Birkhoff averages of continuous functions on graph-directed self-conformal sets.

The paper deals with urban landscape individualities in the cities and towns of Latgale region. Also show facilities and methods of integrated assessment of urban landscape quality. Article provides information about specifics of urban landscape and factors, that have influence on landscape quality. The paper presents the results of Daugavpils and Rēzekne urban landscape quality complex assessment, that have been realised in 2003- 2005. This results don’t establish significant disparities between quality of urban landscape among Daugavpils and Rēzekne. This method of urban landscape assessment makes possible to get believeable and precise information about landscapes quality.

Household total expenditure (consumption) is a very important phenomenon in many research areas. The problem is how to get precise information about the consumption from each household and at the same time not to make the questionnaire so long and involved that it becomes a burden to the respondent. In this paper is evidence from several sources on the usefulness of recall consumption questions. Valid information can be collected by adding specific recall questions to general purpose surveys. There are a few recommendations on how to do so.

The fragment reproduced on Plate I (a) was found on the plateau of La Monédière (Hérault). I am greatly indebted to the owner, Mr. René Majurel of Coulommiers (Seine et Marne), for the photograph, for his kind permission to publish it, and for very precise information about the fragment itself. It is Attic work of about 450 B.C., by the Painter of the Woolly Satyrs. Height 5½ centimetres, breadth the same: our illustration is about twice the actual size. The shape of the vase is uncertain: the wall is thin, and convex; inside the surface is covered with bands of diluted glaze, lustreless, varying from brownish to sanguine; except the uppermost fifth, which is reserved. Possibly an oinochoe?

Reply to Dr. Layton—We agree with Dr Layton that Pediatrics should continue to look thoughtfully at studies in areas that have previously been considered without merit. It is only through rigorous, well-controlled trials that efficacy of some of these treatment modalities can be evaluated. Reply to Drs Duggan and Kleinman—This letter raises several important points. We agree that it would have been preferable to have precise information about both the nutritional management of these children as well as the stool output in grams or milliliters per kilogram body weight.
