<div class="page" title="Page 1"><div class="layoutArea"><div class="column"><p><span>In the literature, it is stated that there are correlations between 1) students’ habit of watching movies and speaking skill; (2) students’ discourse competence and speaking skill; and (3) students’ habit of watching movies and discourse competence to speaking skill simultaneously. Apparently, this theory is proved by the result of the research which was conducted in May 2013 at SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar. This article discusses the result of the research. The sample is 30 from the population of 306 eleventh grade students. The instruments to collect the data are in the forms of questionnaire and test. The questionnaire is used to collect the data of students’ habit of watching movies while the test is used to collect the data of students’ discourse competence and speaking skill. The techniques which are used in analyzing the data are Simple Correlation and Multiple Regression Correlation. The result shows that in the level of significance </span><span>α </span><span>= 0.05, (1) there is a positive correlation between students’ habit of watching movies and speaking skill (rx1y = 0.632, to = 4.314 &gt; tt = 1.7); (2) there is a positive correlation between students’ discourse competence and speaking skill (rx2y = 0.567, to = 3.64 &gt; tt = 1.7), and (3) there is a positive correlation between students’ habit of watching movies and discourse competence to speaking skill simultaneously (Ry12 = 0.6525 and Fo = 10.012 &gt; Ft = 3.35). It means the increase of students’ habit of watching movies and discourse competence, either separately or simultaneously, will be followed by the increase of the students’ speaking skill. </span></p></div></div></div>

The article sums up works of different scientists, dealing with the impact of value added tax (VAT) on the economy of some countries. The authors analyse the Lithuanian VAT structure, the dynamics of income from this tax and amendments in the Law on Value Added Tax in terms of narrowing and widening the taxable base according to the theoretical analysis of the sources. It is aimed to determine the impact of VAT standard tariff, reduced tariffs and shadow economy on income from this tax. Multiple regression, correlation, optimization and C-effectiveness ratio are used for the analysis. The analysis has revealed that amendments in the Law on Value Added Tax in terms of narrowing and widening the taxable base influenced the amount of income from VAT collected to the budget.

The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of knowledge management applications on innovation in Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in Jordan. Data obtained through a survey questionnaire distributed randomly to a sample of employees from various administrative levels in the ministry. To arrive at statistically significant conclusions, the authors used regression, correlation and Anova test analysis. The results indicate that a statistically significant effect for the impact of knowledge management applications on innovation in their four types (content applications, software and data management applications, smart applications, software and systems of linkage). It also shows that there are no statistically significant differences in innovation that are attributed to demographic variables (gender and age) and job variables (administrative levels and years of experience) at the level of significance (<em>P</em>, 0.05). Since this study was limited to the Ministry of Planning in Jordan, caution must be exercised in generalizing the results from this study to other organizations or sectors. Recommendations: Innovation processes need advanced and appropriate applications of knowledge management in order to improve the quality of administrative performance and to promote motivation ways for employees.

This research aims to find correlation between (1) habit in watching<strong> </strong>English movie and writing skill; (2) self-efficacy and writing skill; and (3) habit in watching English movie, and self-efficacy toward writing skill simultaneously. The study was carried out at SMK in Wonoasri. The sample of the study is 22 students out of 260 students in tenth grade as the population. The instruments used for collecting data of habit in watching English movie and self-efficacy is questionnaire, while writing test was used for collecting the data of writing skill. The techniques to analyze data are single and multiple regression correlation. The result of analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between (1) habit in watching English movie and writing skill; (2) self-efficacy and writing skill; and (3) habit in watching English movie, self-efficacy simultaneously and writing skill. The positive correlation indicates that the increase of habit in watching English movie and self-efficacy is followed by the increase of student‟s writing skill at the same time.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to find out and analyze the impact of regional own revenue (PAD), general allocation fund (DAU) and special allocation fund (DAK) on capital expenditure (BM)  in regencies/towns in South  Sumatera Province  for a period of 2010 to 2014. The data were analyzed by using multiple regression. There were four variables in this research. A dependent variable was capital expenditure (BM) and independent variables were regional own revenue (PAD), general allocation fund (DAU) and special allocation fund (DAK). The results showed that the regional own revenue and special allocation fund variables have positive and significant impact on the capital expenditure. This means that the higher the regional own revenue and special allocation fund, the regencies/towns increased the capital expenditure are also higher. General allocation fund do not have a significant effect on the capital expenditure (BM) in regencies/towns in South Sumatera Province for a period of 2010 to 2014

Introduction: Previous studies have found an increase in the incidence rate of depression between 2007 – 2013 in Portugal, with a positive correlation with the unemployment rate, namely, in men. So, it was hypothesized that this increase is related with the situation of economic crisis. This study aimed to investigate if the correlation between unemployment rates and the incidence of depression is maintained in the post-crisis period of economic recovery in Portugal (2016 – 2018).Material and Methods: An ecological study was carried out, using data from the General Practitioners Sentinel Network concerning depression incidence (first episodes and relapses) and data from the National Statistics Institute on unemployment rates in the Portuguese population. The correlation coefficient was estimated using linear regression and the results were disaggregated by sex. Results: Between 2016 and 2018, there was a consistent decrease in the incidence of depression in both sexes. During the 1995 – 2018 period, a positive correlation was observed between unemployment and depression, with a coefficient of 0.833 (p = 0.005) in males and of 0.742 (p = 0.022) in females.Discussion: The reduction in the incidence of depression in both sexes observed between 2016 – 2018 corroborates a positive correlation between unemployment and depression in the Portuguese population, previously observed between 2007 – 2013.Conclusion: This study highlights the need to monitor the occurrence of mental illness in the Portuguese population, especially in moments of greatest social vulnerability in order to establish preventive measures, as a way to mitigate the impact of future economic crises.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to spread globally. While social distancing has attracted attention as a measure to prevent the spread of infection, some occupations find it difficult to implement. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between work characteristics and social distancing using data available on O*NET, an occupational information site. A total of eight factors were extracted by performing an exploratory factor analysis: work conditions, supervisory work, information processing, response to aggression, specialization, autonomy, interaction outside the organization, and interdependence. A multiple regression analysis showed that interdependence, response to aggression, and interaction outside the organization, which are categorized as ”social characteristics,” and information processing and specialization, which are categorized as “knowledge characteristics,” were associated with physical proximity. Furthermore, we added customer, which represents contact with the customer, and remote working, which represents a small amount of outdoor activity, to our multiple regression model, and confirmed that they increased the explanatory power of the model. This suggests that those who work under interdependence, face aggression, and engage in outside activities, and/or have frequent contact with customers, little interaction outside the organization, and little information processing will have the most difficulty in maintaining social distancing.
