As an important tool to promote the technical standards for enterprises, a patent alliance can reduce transaction costs and lawsuit disputes as well as accelerate the promotion and application of proprietary technologies. Moreover, it can enlarge the installed base and influence consumers’ expectations by exploiting the network effects of technical standards. As a result, it can be one of the most effective paths to resolve the problem of patent thicket and promote innovation. Based on several theories with respect to the network effects, this study analyzed the connotation and composition of network effects for technical standards and constructed a concept model that can influence innovations using a patent alliance. A questionnaire investigation was conducted, and an analysis was performed using the structural equation to examine the factors affecting the innovation of patent tools as well as their acting paths. The main research conclusions of this study are as follows: (1) patent alliance is a double-edged sword for technical innovation. The factors related to the patent alliance and network effect, such as the installation-foundation effect, consumer expectation, and positive feedback effect, promote innovation. However, the lock-in effect in the network effect hinders the innovation. (2) Identification of intellectual property and partners is the key factor that influences patent alliance innovation. (3) Standardization strategies and the government play the least role among all innovation factors influencing patent alliance.

Purpose This study aims to understand the factors affecting the continuance usage intention (CUI) of mHealth among the rural elderly. Design/methodology/approach An integrated model was proposed with the constructs derived from multiple models such as the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, information system success model and expectation confirmation model. Data were collected from 400 participants who had prior experiences with mHealth services in Bangladesh. The research model was tested using the partial least squares method based upon structural equation modelling. Findings The findings indicated that system quality, performance expectancy, facilitating conditions and social influence were significant to the degree of confirmation and ultimately affect satisfaction and CUI. Surprisingly, service quality and information quality were insignificant. Research limitations/implications This study has added in the field of knowledge by contributing some new thoughts and interpretations of continuance usage modelling for mHealth services. The findings may become beneficial for the government agencies, policymakers, mHealth systems developers and service providers. Originality/value As limited research was found on CUI of mHealth in the integrated view of rural elderly’s value, this research contributes to the extant literature by categorizing key factors that might support to proliferate the continuance usage of this service. Moreover, the contextualization of the related variables and integration of the existing model is theoretically original. Furthermore, because of a generic approach, the findings could be easily modified to assist other developing countries in the planning and up-take of mHealth.

Recently, logistics platforms that facilitate interaction and the exchange and transaction of information have quickly emerged in the Korean domestic market. In order to further advance the development of logistics platforms into green logistics platforms in which participation in the early stages is not active, appropriate checks and balances are needed so that service providers, users, and platform operators can grow together in green logistics platforms. The purpose of this study is to empirically verify the factors affecting participants’ intentions to use green logistics platforms. Out of the 230 questionnaires distributed from 25 June to 11 July 2019, 14 were excluded from analyses due to unsatisfactory responses, while 216 responses were used for statistical processing. The structural equation model (SEM) was used to test hypotheses in this research. The results showed that the network effect and security factors influenced perceived usefulness, and trust did not affect perceived usefulness. Perceived usefulness also significantly influenced the intention to use green logistics platforms. The results of this study present strategies and directions for the future development of green logistics platforms.

This study aims to analyse the factors affecting the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in the province of South Sumatra, Indonesia. Data of 100 MSMEs were collected through questionnaires in the 15 regencies/cities in South Sumatra. The statistical analysis used was Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) processed through AMOS. The results evidence that the external factors of capital support, business partners, and infrastructure directly have no direct effects but indirectly affect the performance of MSMEs in South Sumatra. Also, the availability of resources and environmental conditions; and the capability of business owners and employees indirectly affect the performance of MSMEs in South Sumatra. Lastly, the use of technology and research impact the performance of MSMEs in South Sumatra directly and indirectly through the availability of resources and environmental conditions and business owners and employees' capability. Theoretically, this study expands the MSMEs literature by discussing factors (i.e., external and internal) affecting MSMEs' performance holistically. Practically, this study is beneficial for the government, practitioners, and policymakers.

This study mainly explores the communication preferences of the public; their level of trust in the government; and the factors affecting their risk/crisis perception amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The key findings —derived from the data collected through an online survey and analysis using descriptive statistics, cross-tabulations, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), provide insights on how Local Government Units (LGUs) can improve their risk/crisis communication in this current health crisis. Among the key takeaways include the use of social media platforms, like Facebook, and native/local language for effective risk/crisis communication which may, consequently, foster trust building between the LGUs and the public.

This study aims to identify the Green Gang Manager capacity level and analyze the factors that affect the Green Gang Manager capacity in Jakarta. The technique of research includes a survey approach for 340 respondents in DKI Jakarta Province from 2,236 Green Gang Managers. Research in the five administrative towns of central Jakarta, East Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta and North Jakarta has been undertaken between December 2019 and February 2020. Techniques for data collecting through open interviews, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. Inferential data analysis. Data analysis. PLS and Logical model analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that the capacity of Green Gang Managers in DKI Jakarta Province was in the medium category. This indicates that the Green Alley Manager's capacity level is quite understanding regarding utilizing Green Open Space. Green Gang Managers' ability is influenced significantly and effectively by individual properties, support of stakeholders and Green Gang managers' involvement. Non-formal training and motivation are personal attributes that affect Green Gang Manager skills. The role of the government, the part of the community, the role of the media and the role of extension workers are all stakes that influence the capacity of the Green Gang manager. Planning, implementation, using outcomes and evaluation are the level of participation that influences the capacity of Green Gang managers.

This paper identifies potential barrier factors affecting effectiveness and development (ED) of ITS projects as well as criteria for measuring ED of ITS projects in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The study discovers the barrier constructs, and analyzes data using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling method (PLS-SEM). The results provides a general and comprehensive overview of the main issues of ITS, and identifies 28 barrier factors with five main constructs affecting ED of ITS projects, namely the lack of undivided attention from the government (AG), financial constraints for ITS (FC), inadequate transport infrastructure (ITI), the over-development of urbanization (ODU), and the readiness and integration for ITS (RI). This paper fill the knowledge gap by discovering the causal relationships between barrier constructs and ED of ITS projects in Vietnam. Also it proposes several solutions for these issues, which are also a useful measurement tool for government agencies, planners, and traffic system designers to help them self-assess and make action plans now or in the near future.

The traditional heavy industry creates not only economic value for societies and countries but also serious ecological and cultural damage. This type of industry is not easy to transform and upgrade because of its large-scale and complex characteristics, and its traditional management mode is being challenged. This study focused on the relation between China’s current ecotechnology and ecological innovation goals. This was investigated to research a new technology and goal management method, which would promote the transformation and upgradation of traditional heavy industry. We investigated 11 shipbuilding companies with strong comprehensive capacity in China’s shipbuilding bases, analyzed the viewpoints of 331 senior managers and designers with more than a decade of shipbuilding experience, and referred to the industry technical standards and literature to define types of shipbuilding ecotechnology and ecological innovation goals. Structural equation modeling was conducted to analyze the relation between them. The simulation results demonstrated that four types of ecotechnology (i.e., energy technology, shipbuilding technology, digital technology, and strategic management) represent the key factors affecting the shipbuilding ecological innovation goals. This study is of theoretical significance for traditional heavy industry, and its outcomes encourage the achievement of ecological innovation goals through the application of ecotechnology.

Bicycle-riding/cycling has reportedly become a new trend in various cities of Indonesia, as well as the Special Region of Yogyakarta, amidst the social restriction applied by the Government to decrease the spreading rate of the COVID-19 virus. This is observed to be a healthier effort in strengthening the immune system during the pandemic. However, the positive growth of this trend is proportional to the increasing data on bicycle accidents. This was due to the increased rate of injured and dead victims from 2017 to 2020. The human behavior factor is also one of the factors causing the high rate of these bicycle accidents. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors affecting the behavior of cyclists in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, to reduce the continuous increase of accidents. The data used in this study were the result of the Cyclist Behavior Questionnaire (CBQ) on the Yogyakarta riders. The samples were obtained through the purposive sampling method, using an online questionnaire with a google form and acquiring 362 respondents. Furthermore, the analytical method used was the structural equation modeling (SEM), through the AMOS 22.0 software. The results indicated that the regulation scale directly affected risk perception and cyclist behaviors (risky and positive). However, age only affected their behaviors, which did not directly affect the accidents. The regulation scale then directly affected the risky behavior of cyclists, with risk perception observed as the mediator, implying that the cyclists' knowledge of road safety regulations influenced individual behaviors. In conclusion, these results are expected to be one of the considerations in the policy of the government, to carry out the overall development of transportation, especially bicycles.

Project activities have been used to solve food insecurity problems. However, despite efforts made by the Government and other development partners to implement food security projects in areas of need project activities collapse after the withdrawal of support by donors limiting sustainability these projects. Therefore, this study sought to fill this gap by investigating factors which affect sustainability of donor funded food security projects in Tharaka South Sub-County, Tharaka Nithi County using there source based and stakeholder theories. The study was exploratory and was executed through a descriptive survey and targeted donor funded food security projects which included Njaa Marufuku, National Agriculture Sector Extension Policy, Food for Asset and Mount Kenya East Pilot Project for Natural Resource Management (MKEPP). The study used both simple random and purposive sampling methods in a population of 400 community project beneficiaries, Social Development Officer, project officers and opinion leaders and a sample of 238 respondents was adopted. Questionnaires with both closed ended and open-ended questions were used as the main research instruments to solicit information and the data obtained was coded and subjected to analysis using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Out of sample of 238, 227 respondents filled in and submitted the questionnaires making a response rate of 95% respectively. It was observed that community involvement and sustainability of donor funded food security projects correlated positively and significantly (r=0.548, p=0.000); Institution capacity and sustainability of donor funded food security projects correlated positively and significantly (r=0.521, p=0.000) and roles of donors and sustainability of donor funded food security projects correlated positively (r=0.534, p=0.000). Finally, the study established that donors play a very important role in ensuring sustainability of donor funded food security projects.
