Congratulations to the Journal of Robotics and Mechatronics (JRM) on its 30th anniversary. I would like to thank all authors and readers who have contributed to the JRM through 30 years. The JRM started as an English-language journal published to provide articles on robot technologies to the world from Japan. It has been jointly edited by the Robotics and Mechatronics Division (RMD) of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) and Fuji Technology Press Ltd. Five years ago, when the English-language journal of the JSME was reorganized, the JRM also underwent some changes, and it has since been issued under the editorial direction of Fuji Technology Press Ltd. Immediately after the reorganization, beginning with Vol.26, I was appointed Editor-in-Chief. Now, as five years have passed, the next Editor-in-Chief will take over from Vol.31. Over these five years, the number of submissions and their quality have been our major concern, as we have been seeking to register the JRM with the Science Citation Index (SCI). To achieve this goal, we have published special issues on the robot technologies required as the field has progressed as well as on the mechatronics technologies that underlie them. The JRM plans to continue providing the world with information on robot technologies, so please keep reading it and submitting your articles to it on a regular basis. Yoshihiro Takita

Purpose: This bibliometric study investigated the current state of documents on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) published in nursing journals. The analysis focused on the description of most productive journals, institutions, and countries, as well as the characteristics of the documents. Methods: The publications analyzed in this study were retrieved from the Web of Science database with search keywords. The searches used to establish the study dataset were last updated on July 10, 2020. The inclusion criteria were relevant English-language publications in journals published in the Science Citation Index Expanded or Social Science Citation Index. Content analysis of original articles and reviews was done. Results: An analysis of 125 publications on COVID-19 from 48 journals showed that the most productive journal and country were the Journal of Clinical Nursing (n = 18) and the USA (n = 53), respectively. Original articles (n = 27, 21.6%) and review papers (n = 4, 3.2%) accounted for 24.8% of the articles, and the highest number of papers were found in early access (published ahead of print) (n = 51, 40.8%) and Q1 journals (n = 73, 58.4%). The content analysis found 10 data-based original articles or reviews, which dealt with the topics of nurse training (n = 2), nurses’ psychosocial status (n = 2), nursing research methodology (n = 1), nursing guidelines (n = 4), and protection for nurses (n = 1).Conclusion: This study presents the current situation of nursing research on COVID-19 based on an analysis of publications in nursing journals and provides meaningful information to nursing researchers and editorial board members. The number of data-based original articles on nursing related to COVID-19 remains low.

Over the last three decades, G.S. Maddala (universally known as “G.S.”) has been a familiar name to all doing econometric work. His substantial contributions to the discipline through numerous books and articles single him out as one of the most distinguished econometricians of our time. Because of his extraordinary ability to synthesize and exposit complex methodological results in simple intuitive terms, he has influenced econometric research in other areas of social science also. According to the Social Science Citation Index, G.S. has been one of the top five most cited econometricians during each of the years 1988–1993. He writes econometrics in plain English with a characteristic sense of wit and humor. There cannot be too many empirical economists around the world who have not been influenced by G.S.'s writings in some way or other. Often he has taken a critical look at evolving econometric techniques, particularly those that have no practical applications, and has not hesitated to go against the tide of the profession.

Background. A statistical analysis published in the WHO report for 2019 showed that almost 10.0 million people (about 9.0-11.1 million) fell ill with tuberculosis (TB) worldwide in 2018. The purpose of a systematic examination and analysis of the WHO report is to summarize the achievements and study of complex issues in overcoming tuberculosis in the world at the present stage, that need more attention, more scrutiny, or a change in approach to addressing specific challenges towards achieving the strategic global goals for eradicating this infection. Materials and methods. We used test access to such full – text and abstract databases: a single package of the information database EBSCO; the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature Scopus; Google Scholar; MEDLINE with Full Text; MEDLINE Complete; Dyna Med Plus; EBSCO eBooks Clinical Collection; Web of Science Core Collection WoS (CC); SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded); SSCI (Social Science Citation Index); AHCI (Artand Humanities Citation Index). Results and discussion. By geography, most TB cases in 2018 were reported in the WHO regions: Southeast Asia – 44 %, African – 24 % and Western Pacific – 18 %. Lower percentages were recorded in the Eastern Mediterranean (8 %), America (3 %) and Europe (3 %). Eight countries account for two – thirds of the world’s total TB cases: India (27 %), China (9 %), Indonesia (8 %), Philippines (6 %), Pakistan (6 %), Nigeria (4 %), Bangladesh (4 %) and South Africa (3 %). These and 22 other countries on the WHO list of 30 high tuberculosis countries account for 87 % of TB worldwide. Multidrugresistant tuberculosis (MDRTB) continues to be a public health threat worldwide. In 2018, about half a million new cases of rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis were reported (of which 78 % had multidrug-resistant tuberculosis). The three countries with the largest share of the global MRTB burden are India (27 %), China (14%) and the Russian Federation (9 %). Globally, 3.4 % of new cases of tuberculosis and 18% of previously treated cases are tuberculosis with extensively resistance or rifampicin-resistant (MDR/RR-TB), with the highest rates of detection (>50 % in previously detected cases) in the countries of the former Soviet Union. Conclusion. The epidemic situation in TB in the world and Ukraine remains complex and at this stage has certain peculiarities, and the prognosis for its overcoming shortly is rather doubtful. There is a tendency to reduce the incidence of tuberculosis, but several complex and controversial issues have been outlined for the eradication of this infectious disease by WHO’s End TB strategy.

In early 2016 a new database was launched on the Web of Science platform — Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI). The database is free to all Web of Science subscribers except those from the post-Soviet states. This database includes papers from 652 selected Russian journals and is based on the data from national citation index — Russian Index of Science Citation (RISC). RISC was launched in 2005 but it is scarcely known to the English-language audience. The paper describes the history, current structure and user possibilities of RISC. We focus on the novel features of RISC which are crucial to bibliometrics and are unavailable in the international citation indexes.

Although the field of Communication Sciences has been slower to organize in Spain than in other European countries and the United States, in recent years it has shown a clear tendency to growth. One way to trace this process is by analyzing scientific production, and this paper focuses on this aspect. Using bibliometric methods, we analyze scientific journals and papers indexed in Thomson Reuter’s international database, the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) for Communication. While the focus of the study is Spanish scientific output, the results are related to international activities in this field. The three Spanish journals included in SSCI in recent years: «Comunicar», «Comunicación y Sociedad» and «Estudios sobre el Mensaje Periodístico» were studied in detail. The results show that Spain plays an important role in Communcation journal publishing (4th in the world) and as a producer of scientific papers (6th in the world), with a remarkable evolution, in quantitative terms, especially in the last five years. The inclusion of these three Spanish journals in the international database has been an important contribution to the country's visibility in this field, but there is still a need to promote international collaboration to achieve greater impact and openness in the scientific community.
