The street anthropology is identical with the anthropology of urban life. In the past, a street was a place to socialize and, on equal footing with its architecture, it was part of the cultural identity of its inhabitants. The street reflects residents’ social, cultural and economic capital. Over time, mobility and communication accessibility have dominated the urban spatial policy. The contemporary street has become a "space of flows". The restoration of its original role requires a more balanced approach to cultural factors that determine the quality of life in a city. The article discusses characteristic features that determine patterns of mobility in modern streets.

The collaborative filtering (CF) approach is one of the most successful personalized recommendation methods so far, which is employed by the majority of personalized recommender systems to predict users’ preferences or interests. The basic idea of CF is that if users had the same interests in the past they will also have similar tastes in the future. In general, the traditional CF may suffer the following problems: (1) The recommendation quality of CF based system is greatly affected by the sparsity of data. (2) The traditional CF is relatively difficult to adapt the situation that users’ preferences always change over time. (3) CF based approaches are used to recommend similar items to a user ignoring the user’s demand for variety. In this paper, to solve the above problems we build a new user-user covariance matrix to replace the traditional CF’s user-user similarity matrix. Compared with the user-user similarity matrix, the user-user covariance matrix introduces the user-user covariance to finely describe the changing trends of users’ interests. Furthermore, we propose an enhancing collaborative filtering method based on the user-user covariance matrix. The experimental results show that the proposed method can significantly improve the diversity of recommendation results and ensure the good recommendation precision.

“Batik” or “Pateh” is an important cloth in the south of Thailand. Its unique features such as pattern, colour, and production process make Batik different from other cloth in the other part of Thailand. Traditionally, Batik was originated in Indonesia and India where people used paraffin wax as a dye-resist paint. It was also reported that other Asian countries such as Japan and India made Batik fabric in their country. In Thailand, local people in the south made their clothes from Batik fabric and wore them in daily life or during special social events. They designed pattern and applied wax-resist dyeing by hand or blocks on the fabric to create colourful and creative designs. Batik is a cultural identity of the south of Thailand. The study found that the process of creating pattern and colour for Batik was used a long time ago. In the past, artisans primarily employed wooden molds or blocks and wax to create patterns. Through the accumulation of knowledge and experience over time, the development of metal blocks makes Batik’s patterns more delicate and vivid. In addition, the research aimed to study about Batik pattern in the southern provinces of Thailand.It can be said that Batik is a uniquely beautiful fabric that should be collected as a national heritage and for the future study of this fabric. The study of Batik pattern in the south revealed that former patterns simply used basic geometric shapes such as lines, squares, and circles. Then, these patterns have been developed by integrating rhythms and spaces to create more distinctive and delicate designs. Moreover, the patterns of Batik in the south were inspired by nature, religious beliefs, and ways of life. Warm tone colours such as red, brown, yellow and cool tone colours such as blue and green were employed. It was also found that the materials used in the past were primarily from plants and nature. Nowadays, artificial colors are also used because they allow vivid and durable effects.

Endometriosis is a gynaecological disease that occurs in approximately 10% to 15% of women of reproductive age and up to 47% of infertile women. The presence of implants of endometrial-like glands and stroma outside the uterus, characteristic of this disease, induce a wide variety of symptoms, mainly pelvic pain and infertility. Women suffering from this condition experience great distress, which significantly affects their quality of life. Numerous studies attempting to decipher the pathogenic mechanisms of endometriosis have been conducted around the world, yet its aetiology still remains unknown. It is widely believed that in women with endometriosis, the endometrium has characteristic features that allow the formation of implants once fragments have entered the peritoneal cavity through retrograde menstruation. Furthermore, a strong genetic tendency to develop the disease has been reported among patients and first-degree relatives. Thanks to the recent technological advances achieved in genomics and bioinformatics, a number of studies have had the potential to analyse several aspects of the pathogenesis of endometriosis from a genetic perspective. Due to the recent identification of nerve fibres in the endometrium of women with endometriosis, research on the neurogenesis of the disease has increased in the past few years. However, the genetic aspects of nerve growth in endometriosis have not been analysed in depth and further research providing important insights into the mechanisms that mediate pain in affected patients has the potential to contribute substantially to the future management of the condition.

Purpose The American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) has provided a method for measuring process-based practice quality since 2006. We sought to determine whether QOPI scores showed improvement in measured quality over time and, if change was demonstrated, which factors in either the measures or participants were associated with improvement. Methods The analysis included 156 practice groups from a larger group of 308 that submitted data from 2006 to 2010. One hundred fifty-two otherwise eligible practices were excluded, most commonly for insufficient data submission. A linear regression model that controlled for varied initial performance was used to estimate the effect of participation over time and evaluate participant and measure characteristics of improvement. Results Participants completed a mean of 5.06 (standard deviation, 1.94) rounds of data collection. Adjusted mean quality scores improved from 0.71 (95% CI, 0.42 to 0.91) to 0.85 (95% CI, 0.60 to 0.95). Overall odds ratio of improvement over time was 1.09 (P < .001). The greatest improvement was seen in measures that assessed newly introduced clinical information, in which the mean scores improved from 0.05 (95% CI, 0.01 to 0.17) to 0.69 (95% CI, 0.33 to 0.91; P < .001). Many measures showed no change over time. Conclusion Many US oncologists have participated in QOPI over the past 6 years. Participation over time was highly correlated with improvement in measured performance. Greater and faster improvement was seen in measures concerning newly introduced clinical information. Some measures showed no change despite opportunity for improvement.

The purpose of the work is to identify areas for improving the efficiency of corporate governance in the context of the digitalization of the economy. The characteristic features of a corporation as a system, the development of which is influenced by its subsystems and supersystem, have been highlighted and described. It has been shown that the quality of management impact on a corporation depends on how fully the experience of the corporation’s development in the past is taken into account. Adequate forecasting of its possible states in the future is also important. Based on the study of the triad of the processes of development of socio- economic systems (ontogenesis, phylogenesis and technogenesis), it is shown that currently there is an imbalance caused by a sharp acceleration of technogenesis. The dialectical consideration of the triad of developmental processes led to the conclusion that the imbalance was caused primarily by the exacerbation of the contradiction between technogenesis and ontogenesis. As a point of relevance for resolving the revealed contradiction, it is proposed to shift the emphasis in corporate management to phylogenesis. Specific measures for the development of phylogonese in corporations are the introduction and development of new forms of joint activities, the transformation of organizational structures, the creation of an atmosphere of mutual understanding, justice, morality, ethics, and culture.

Abstract. Cities concentrate most of the world’s population and are the stage of difficult problems around logistics, economy, or quality of life, to enumerate just a few. As an object of research on itself, a urban agglomeration is difficult to characterize; it is both an ensemble of various disconnected heterogeneous elements, and the product of numerous actions and effects between those elements. Studies of the structure and the functioning of cities date back to one century ago, with an increased interest in the last decades on the phenomenon of expansion and all of its impacts. Models of city growth face the complex nature of this system and are approximative. Different representations seek to balance characteristics as data availability, level of detail of internal processes, or precision. The uflow model approaches the problem with the metaphor of an abstract field, which evolves over time and signals the conversion from empty to urban cells. The procedure for calibration adjusts parameters according to the history of the region under study, and is able to capture local conditions. The implementation takes advantage of parallel hardware, and the simulation can be performed in reverse mode, a feature that can be useful to verify the adaptation of the tool to a given scenario, or to compute approximations of the past state of a region. Tests confirmed the expected behaviour of the algorithms, and good agreement with actual data. The flexibility of the concept of intensity of urbanization is open to the integration of different data sources into the model, and the possibility of simulating their evolution over time.

Abstract. The human desire to live in an urban area increases every day. However, citizens’ expectation of urban life is very different compared to the past. It is, thus, essential to satisfy their requirements and ensure their safety within their cities. As a result, there is a huge trend in the implementation of smart cities around the world. A smart city is a solution to improve the quality of life of the citizens, and governing the city in an efficient and systematic. Besides, significant advances have been raised in biometrics technologies, which have made many aspects of urban life easier, more efficient, and more secure. Accordingly, to be compliant with the demands of a smart city in the future, biometrics-based technologies will certainly play a significant role from now on. Thus, it is necessary to list the different biometrics methods that could be used in smart cities and to review the variety of applications for each method. In this article, we have listed the potential biometrics systems that can be employed in smart cities, such as facial recognition, age estimation, gender detection, facial expression detection and sentiment recognition, and gait recognition. We also have listed different applications imagined for each biometrics system such as their application in identification systems and security, smart healthcare, smart advertising, education, and high-risk lifestyle behaviours prevention. We believe that this work can help to better use of these methods, improve their technical quality, and also employing them in the advance and more effective ways.

Aircraft noise is one of the serious environmental noises with the increased use of flight traffic. The purpose of this study is to understand aircraft noise levels of airport communities in Korea using baseline data for audiologic management. Aircraft noise levels were retrieved from the National Noise Information System every month between 2004 and 2018. We reviewed aircraft noise levels obtained from total of 111 airport communities across 14 airports. In order to understand aircraft noise levels of civil and military airports, the aircraft noise levels measured in civil and military airport communities compared with the noise levels from civil airport communities. The data showed average 71-73 weight equivalent continuous perceived noise level (WECPNL) for fifteen years across airport cities and the average noise levels did not increase over time between 2004 and 2018 years. The civil and military airports showed about 12 WECPNLs of increased noise levels compared to the civil airports. The most civil and military airport communities, including Gwangju, Gunsan, Daegu, Wonju, and Cheongju generated the maximum noise levels and ranked as the highest airport for aircraft noise levels. Although aircraft noise levels in airport communities were similar over the past decade, civil and military airports generated increased noised levels compared to civil airports due to jet plane noises and other military-related noises. Careful consideration is necessary to implement noise reduction policy for civil and military airport communities. Ongoing noise control, hearing monitoring, education, and relevant policies are required to improve the quality of life in the airport community residences.

We aimed to benchmark the quality of care and describe characteristics of patients newly attending the HIV clinic at differing time points over the past 10 years, against the Infectious Disease Society of America HIV/AIDS performance measures. We performed a retrospective analysis of records for patients newly attending the HIV clinic in 2011, 2016 and 2018. There was an increase in male attendees in 2018 and 2016 compared to 2011 (88%, 88% vs. 59% p < .001), viral suppression rates were 97%, 83% and 99% ( p < .001), respectively. We observed an increase in patients of South American origin over time. Acquisition risk changed, with increased proportion of MSM (24% in 2011 vs 78% in 2018, p < .001), lower rates of heterosexual (20% in 2018 vs 48% in 2011, p < .001) and IDU transmission (1.5% in 2018 vs 24% in 2011, p < .001). There were lower rates of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae testing in 2018 (72%, p < .001), compared to 2016 (84%) and 2011 (83%). Hepatitis B virus vaccination and pneumococcal vaccine rates are declining ( p < .001). We demonstrate the changes in both ethnicity and risk of acquisition over time, high rates of antiretroviral therapy prescription and viral suppression, and highlight the importance of health prevention with sexual health screening and vaccination in this population.
