Fort Huachuca Environmental and Natural Resources Division (ENRD) sent funds to ERDC-CERL to develop a historic context that assists Fort Huachuca personnel in identifying the likely history and provenance of numerous historic range features located across Fort Huachuca's training lands. The historic context will be used by cultural resources personnel to evaluate and manage the resources appropriately. Various historic training range features (e.g., structures, fragments, and items left over from previous activities) are located across the ranges of Fort Huachuca, representing its long and storied history. To help identify and catalog these features, ERDC-CERL conducted a field survey of the training ranges in 2016 in or-der to photograph the historic range features. Forty-one historic range features were identified. Researchers conducted archival research, literature reviews, and image analysis of historic and current maps and photographs to identify the 41 historic range features and place them within a chronological context of Fort Huachuca's training ranges. The report concludes with guidance on how to identify and associate sites and features within the overall historic training range chronology and evaluate them appropriately for significance and National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility.

Penelitian dilakukan pada tahun 2004 - 2006 di Danau Semayang dan Muara Kaman (bagian dari Sungai Mahakam), Kalimantan Timur, melalui survei lapangan dan wawancara langsung dengan nelayan, masyarakat, dan Dinas Perikanan, Dinas Perlindungan Hutan dan Pelestarian Alam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penyebaran secara spasial, status pemanfaatan, dan upaya konservasi pesut Mahakam (Orcaella brevirostris). Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa distribusi pesut Mahakam secara spasial terdapat di Muara Kaman, Muara Sungai Pela Kecil, muara Sungai Pela Besar, Danau Semayang, dan Danau Melintang. Pada saat ini, pesut Mahakam di Sungai Mahakam digunakan sebagai wisata air bagi turis domestik maupun luar negeri. Upaya konservasi pesut Mahakan dapat dilakukan melalui perlindungan habitat dari pencemaran dan pendangkalan, perlindungan suaka perikanan yang berfungsi untuk penyedia makanan alami serta meningkatkan peran aktif masyarakat agar turut menjaga kelestarian pesut. This study was conducted during 2004 to 2006 in Semayang and Melintang Lakes, Mahakam segment around Muara Kaman River of East Kalimantan, through field survey methods, and directly interview to respective respondens of fishers, local people, Fisheries Regency Departement and Forest Protection and Natural Resources Conservation. The objective of the study was to elucidate the distribution spasial, utilization status, and conservation effort of freshwater dolphin (Orcaella brevirostris). Results show that the spasial distributions of freshwater dolphin were found in Kaman, Pela Kecil, Bank of Pela Besar Rivers, Semayang, and Melintang Lakes. Freshwater dolphines was used as echotourism for local and foreign tourisms. There are some efforts to conserve of freshwater dolphin in the East Kalimantan, namely habitat protection from pollution and sedimentation, fisheries area protection for providing natural food and to increase local people role in conserving the existence of these animals.


The conclusion discusses the best practises across the world to achieve the goals of sustainable development through the contemporary developments in the interdisciplinary studies with an aim to achieve an efficient legal regime, conducive to the specific legal, economic, scientific and political scenario in India. It arrives at the possibility of attaining sustainable development through seeking balance, consensus and agreement in order to manage the contradictions of development so that natural resources, scientific invention and cultural resources are both the means and the end of this inter-related process.

Today, most of the cities in the world encounter the phenomenon of high rise building. The growth of high rise building in Tangail pourashava has been considerably increased since the last few years. Though high-rise buildings helped in solving the problem of shortage of land and housing, it also caused many problems in different environmental, structural, spatial, functional, socio-economical, and demographic aspects of the city. Our study was to identify the location of high-rise buildings, to classify these buildings by their uses and to investigate the Structural and functional characteristics of high-rise buildings in Tangail Pourashava. For the study both primary and secondary data were collected, primary data has been collected from field survey and secondary data has been collected from different journals and published and unpublished publications. The study also focused on the existing high-rise buildings safety and security system available in those buildings and made recommendation that the buildings should follow the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) guidance strictly to ensure all safety aspects.J. A Life Cycle Risk Assessment (LCRA) proposed in our former study was applied to 12 suburban streams to evaluate crucial stress and habitat conditions for 15 freshwater fishes in Japan. In LCRA, 8 stresses produced by human activities were taken into consideration, referring to the literature. Field survey and literature reviews were conducted to identify the present existence and distributions of corresponding fishes in the streams which have different pollution levels and morphologies. Crucial stresses frequently identified by the LCRA were depletion of dissolved oxygen (DO), disappearances of habitats (e.g. deep and shallow), disappearance of spawning area due to benthic deposition, and existence of obstructions in the streams. Most LCRA results regarding existence or non-existence of 15 fishes were in fairly good agreement with field survey or literature reviews results. From these results, we thought the present LCRA would be a useful tool in assessing crucial stress as well as in evaluating habitat conditions in steams, which could be used for the restoration of steams.

Community genetics is a synthesis of community ecology and evolutionary biology. It examines how genetic variation within a species affects interactions among species to change ecological community structure and diversity. The use of community genetics approaches has greatly expanded in recent years and the evidence for ecological effects of genetic diversity is growing. The goal of current community genetics research is to determine the circumstances in which, and the mechanisms by which community genetic effects occur and is the focus of the papers in this special issue. We bring a new group of researchers into the community genetics fold. Using a mixture of empirical research, literature reviews and theoretical development, we introduce novel concepts and methods that we hope will enable us to develop community genetics into the future.

Tourism Potential of Giełczewska Elevation (Central-Eastern Poland)Introduction. This study attempts to assess the tourism potential (natural resources of the geographical environment, cultural resources and tourism infrastructure) of Giełczewska Elevation. Material and methods. Based on research conducted in six municipalities, including one urban-rural (Piaski) and five rural (Jabłonna, Wysokie, Krzczonów, Żółkiewka, Rybczewice) the factors affecting the characteristics of tourist space of Giełczewska Elevation were examined. Using 48 features, grouped in four sections (tourist values, recreational and specialist qualities, tourist management, environment condition) the tourist potential of municipalities was assessed. It was expressed by synthetic numerical values of tourist attractiveness measures specified for each municipality. Results. Calculated using the method of multidimensional comparative analysis, the synthetic indices of tourist attractiveness ranged from 0.18 (Wysokie) to 0.47 (urban-rural Piaski). Their volume was significantly affected by characteristics of the group of recreational and special qualities and tourist management. Much less important were qualities of sightseeing, while the smallest - the condition of the environment. Conclusions. In view of the measures obtained, the tourism potential of Giełczewska Elevation values shapes the diverse recreational, specialist and sightseeing, and considerably varying tourist management. Less important is the environment.

In Iraq, the construction industry is considered one of the main sectors that contribute strongly to the Iraqi economy. Documentation is a process of collecting documents from past and current works of corporations, then archiving and classification of information to become easy and useful for reuse in the future. The aim of this study is to investigate the reality of documentation in the Iraqi construction industry and how to improve archiving and classification of documents and how documentation can be useful used in contractor and consultant corporations. This research has been conducted through literature reviews followed by a field survey. 80 questionnaires were distributed to contractors and engineering offices. 70 useful questionnaires were received from respondents with an 87% response rate. The findings indicated that the construction projects in the Diyala governorate are applying documentation. The study found that foundations classified and updating the documents as printed and written files and computer files, but foundations lack computer programs and web models for easy archiving and discovery of documents, documentation system currently used doesn't prevent Confusing, conflict in schemas because they still used Auto CAD and paper documentation.  The large number and accumulation of paper documents are also considered the most often problem in the documentation system currently used, and construction projects don't have a database for all information related to projects where, it is limited to cabinets full of paper documents, which causes a waste of time and effort when searching for any document or information related to the projects. The study recommended that companies and foundations have to increase cost and effort consumed in the documentation process, improve the owner and staff abilities in computer and web applications, assign a key person for collection and archiving project documents, establishing an internet website for companies, or using cloud applications for storage of documents and sharing information.
