The article deals with the topic of soft competences that should be acquired by secondary school students planning a professional career in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector. In connection with the assumed goal, the paper describes key trends on the labor market in the ICT sector, indicates soft skills related to those trends as identified, and presents the results of an analysis of curricula and class organization in domestic and foreign secondary schools providing education in occupations related to the ICT industry. It also provides draft recommendations for companies. The research was carried out over the years 2019–2020. Desk–research, Individual In–depth Interview (IDI), and Computer Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) methods were used, as appropriate at each stage of the work. As a result of the research, a competency gap was identified among secondary school students, a catalogue of soft competences was developed, and recommendations were formulated for the Polish educational system at ISCED Level 3 and for entities in the ICT sector.

This study explores the ways in which young people orient to and manage their agency in (un)employment-related discourse in “crisis ridden” Greece. It focuses on data elicited by semistructured interviews with 40 people, aged between 18 and 29 years. Interviews were analyzed by the principles of critical discursive social psychology. Analysis indicated that, in the context of accounting for job loss, participants mobilized the rhetoric of “crisis,” managing to negotiate complaints, without directly identifying a blame-worthy party. In the context of discussing effective job seeking, however, interviewees were concerned to depict themselves as active agents. Paradoxically, success in job seeking was depicted as the result of accepting unfavorable job opportunities. Finally, when participants unfolded their plans to emigrate, unemployment was related to structural flaws of the Greek labor market and “crisis” narratives were contested. Different constructions of agency are seen to reflect the contingencies of both local (interactional) and broader (historical) contexts.

Students desiring to become a valuable good in the labor market are willing to pay a considerable monetary cost to obtain knowledge about their prospective job opportunities, nowadays with a diminishing interest in the obtainment of a diploma. Considering the behavior of the labor market as a domain theory under uncertainty, it is straightforward to expect the presence of contradictions, in the form of salaries unable to be classified due to high inconsistency and variation. We provide an algorithm to verify a labor market domain theory based on a crowdsourcing academic system, in which feedback about possible contradictions is generated as a result of consultations with experts inside of the market and clustered into different contexts. We found that the verification process can be repeated iteratively as long as the students overall tuition is equal or greater than a quantity partially defined by the number of different profiles of the students.

Introduction. The mismatch between the needs of the labor market and the education and skill structure of the labor force is a well-recognized urgent problem that is inherent not only in the economy of Ukraine. The current economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic inevitably exacerbates existing imbalances. Methods. The study used methods of analysis and systematization (to determine the basic requirements for potential employees); and methods of synthesis and generalization (to formulate the conclusions of the study). Results. The paper analyzes the job descriptions posted on the job search site Work.ua in the categories: sales and procurement, service, logistics, retail, and marketing. The choice of these categories was determined by their popularity and prevalence in the sphere of trade. The analysis of the requirements shows that the experience of applicants is valued much more than their educational attainment. Meanwhile, the requirements for potential employees contain a wide range of hard and soft skills, the provision of which is the content of higher education, in particular the competency-based approach, but this is not specified in the requirement for a diploma. The task of education, along with a prompt response to development trends (so-called "Amazon effect") remains to fill the learning process with real content. Discussion. Further research should consider not only the existing requirements of the modern labor market, to which education should be adjusted, but combine the objectives of education with the structural reorganization of the domestic economy, which is designed to increase the demand for human capital. Soft skills are the new demand of HRs in all the corporate and educational organizations. As it includes the behavioral, interpersonal, communication, leadership, problem solving, managerial and other characteristics traits of personality. These are the skills which represents an organized and well-mannered reflection of human. Previously soft skills were found understood but now as population is increasing, it is decreasing the employability skills and so the job opportunities. People are busy in collecting degrees and experience certificates of various jobs and they have underestimated behavioral and social skills. Such skills have now become the most expected skills in each and every interview as well as in professional working. This paper will help professionals to understand the importance and significance of learning these soft skills.


In today's world of development any individual is in need of developing the employability skills in order to grow and settle in their profession. Their possession of hard skills such as education, experience and expertise does not guarantee them perfect job opportunities. Low proficient learners from Arts and Science Colleges find it difficult to get reasonable jobs because they lack employability skills. This is an attempt to analyze the role of technology in the development of employability skills particularly English vocabulary in the low proficient learners of Arts and Science College. 20 students from 3 different departments were given assignments to be done using 3 online tools. Assessment has been made to find out some difference in training the low proficient learners from Arts and Science. The result shows a tremendous change in attitude in learning vocabulary in the low proficient learners from Arts and Science. English vocabulary can be. The soft skills syllabus prescribed can be enriched and made more interesting especially for the low proficient learners with the addition of the online tool ‘Memrise” for learning vocabulary. This will pave a path to those that found learning English difficult.
