This paper examines how mass ridership data can help describe cities from the bikers' perspective. We explore the possibility of using the data to reveal general bikeability patterns in 202 major Chinese cities. This process is conducted by constructing a bikeability rating system, the Mobike Riding Index (MRI), to measure bikeability in terms of usage frequency and the built environment. We first investigated mass ridership data and relevant supporting data; we then established the MRI framework and calculated MRI scores accordingly. This study finds that people tend to ride shared bikes at speeds close to 10 km/h for an average distance of 2 km roughly three times a day. The MRI results show that at the street level, the weekday and weekend MRI distributions are analogous, with an average score of 49.8 (range 0–100). At the township level, high-scoring townships are those close to the city centre; at the city level, the MRI is unevenly distributed, with high-MRI cities along the southern coastline or in the middle inland area. These patterns have policy implications for urban planners and policy-makers. This is the first and largest-scale study to incorporate mobile bike-share data into bikeability measurements, thus laying the groundwork for further research.

BACKGROUND Owing to the rapid development of social networking services, online support groups vary widely both in goal and structure. Several studies have shown the potential effectiveness of online support groups, such as reducing psychological distress (eg depression) among individuals with mental health problems. However, online support groups often do not aim at effectiveness regarding distress-relief-related outcomes. OBJECTIVE The U2plus.jp (hereinafter U2plus) is an online support group for individuals with depression; in it, people support each other in structured ways while engaging in simple cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) exercises. This study aimed to examine if usage frequency of the U2plus functions are associated with decreased stigma and increased consumer. METHODS In total, 355 U2plus users took part in an online survey. They were asked what therapy they had ever received, how often they logged into it and used each of its functions, and completed the following questionnaires: The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the Perceived Devaluation Discrimination Scale, and the General Help Seeking Scale. RESULTS Regarding the therapy they received, 89.3% (n=308) had been on medication for mental health problems, and 67.5% (n=233) had received psychotherapy or mental health counselling. Regarding the usage frequency, approximately 20% of the participants signed in to U2plus and used its functions more than once a week. The usage frequency of U2plus functions was not associated with perceived stigma. However, usage frequency of some functions was correlated to help seeking intentions from formal sources (eg doctors and psychologists). Moreover, 90% of the participants had a history of medication for their mental health. Additionally, the more depressed participants were, the more frequently they used U2plus. CONCLUSIONS It was suggested that online support groups may serve as an alternative treatment option for those who are already undergoing pharmacological treatment and are willing to seek help from whatever source they deem helpful.

Abstract The influence of usage frequency, and particularly of linguistic similarity on human linguistic behavior and linguistic change in situations of language contact are well documented in contact linguistics literature. However, a theoretical framework capable of unifying the various explanations, which are usually couched in either structuralist, sociolinguistic, or psycholinguistic parlance, is still lacking. In this introductory article we argue that a usage-based approach to language organization and linguistic behavior suits this purpose well and that the study of language contact phenomena will benefit from the adoption of this theoretical perspective. The article sketches an outline of usage-based linguistics, proposes ways to analyze language contact phenomena in this framework, and summarizes the major findings of the individual contributions to the special issue, which not only demonstrate that contact phenomena are usefully studied from the usage-based perspective, but document that taking a usage-based approach reveals new aspects of old phenomena.

The aim of this study is to examine teacher candidates’ perceptions of their own proficiency in using information and communication technologies and their attitudes towards information and communication technologies in terms of gender, major, internet usage frequency and computer ownership. The study group consists of 336 teacher candidates, 98 male (29%) and 238 female (71%) senior students, in different departments at Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Education during the 2017-2018 academic year. The “Proficiency Perception Scale for Using Information and Communication Technologies” and “The Attitude Scale for Information and Communication Technologies” developed by different researchers were administered to the candidate teachers. As a result of the findings obtained from the research, there was no significant difference between proficiency levels of the teacher candidates regarding the use of information and communication technologies. Besides, there was not significant difference between the means of attitude towards information and communication technologies in terms of majors and the internet usage frequency, and between the mean proficiency perception scores of using information and communication technologies with regard to gender. It was ascertained that there was a slightly meaningful difference between the attitudes scores for information and communication technologies in favor of males in terms of gender, and as to computer ownership, there was a low level of difference between both attitude and perception scores in favor of computer owners. The findings are discussed within the scope of literature.

Management Accounting Practices (MAPs) usage among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and their implications are examined in this paper. 291 sets of questionnaires were dispersed and six interviews were conducted to gather the data. The usage frequency of individual practices and thematic analysis are deliberated, and the results denote the comparatively low MAPs usage rates among Jordanian SMEs as opposed to those in developed countries. Nonetheless, the reported rates in Jordan are comparable to those in developing countries. Among SMEs, MAPs significantly allow product cost information determination, planning and controlling, and detection of problems. Shortcomings of the traditional system, previous experiments of large companies, and external factors, are considered as the main reasons that motivated SMEs to use MAPs. Insufficient experience, lack of financial resources, and the high costs associated with implementing MAPs are the most crucial reasons that forced SMEs to neglect to use a lot of MAPs. The present study enriches the knowledge of MAPs in the context of SMEs. Also, the significance of MAPs among SME managers is highlighted. Equally, this study should stimulate additional scrutiny and analysis of MAPs amongst SMEs. The widespread use of information and communication technologies, database technologies and the Internet has led to the development of specialized digital libraries. These digital libraries serve a huge number of different users and play an important role as repositories and providers of information and knowledge. Therefore, the automatic extraction of useful information from texts stored in digital libraries is becoming an increasingly important research topic in the field of data mining. The article discusses the statistical analysis of texts in the digital library arXiv.org to identify the most common terms, bigrams and trigrams. After the hyper-parameters optimization process of neural network models, the trend prediction results in the use of terms in the field of computer sciences are presented. By analyzing statistics and predicting usage frequency of bigram and trigram terms our findings provide evidence that papers concerned with machine learning, reinforcement learning, generative adversarial network, convolutional neural network and recurrent neural network can be seen as main future research trend in Computer science in the next 3 years. Moreover, topics related to will experience a sudden increase in usage frequency. Being able to predict scientific trends in advance could potentially revolutionize the way science is done, for instance, by enabling funding agencies to optimize allocation of resources towards promising research areas.
