The use of mobile control action allows the improvement of technical-economical characteristics of the rectification process and allows for operation regimes that can’t be achieved with traditional control approaches. Mobility lies in the ability to choose the movement law of compound source and energy in the spatial region of apparatus. Mobile control over the rectification process can be realized by changing the column feed point. An optimal number of feed trays must be determined with consideration of cost and output performance, and also the quality of the target product. The work aimed to develop a method for calculating optimal control action, including mobile ones, on the rectification process with additional account for the criterion of maximizing quality of target product, and also, comparison of static column profiles that are optimal by different criteria. Mathematical modeling of the rectification column for separation of water-methanol mixture revealed that increasing quality requirements to target products decreases the number of the optimal feed tray. A method was described for process optimization by the normalized criterion that accounts for separation quality and power consumption. The method was used to determine optimal values of traditional (flows of heat into the column's cube and phlegm) and mobile (feed tray number) control actions that provide the best technical-economical parameters of the rectification column. A proof is presented for the existence and uniqueness of solutions for this optimization problem and the effectiveness of using mobile actions for different requirements to target. The optimal temperature profile of the culms was studied and their characteristic features that correspond to different specific and normalized optimization criteria were found

The system of indicators of quality of carbon-carbon composite material and technological operations of its production is proved in the work. As a result of the experimental studies, with respect to the existing laboratory equipment, the optimal number of cycles of saturation of the reinforcing frame with a carbon matrix is determined. It was found that to obtain a carbon-carbon composite material with a low cost and the required quality indicators, it is necessary to introduce additional parameters of the pitch melt at the impregnation stage.

In short, clustering is the process of partitioning a given set of objects into groups containing highly related instances. This relation is determined by a specific distance metric with which the intra-cluster similarity is estimated. Finding an optimal number of such partitions is usually the key step in the entire process, yet a rather difficult one. Selecting an unsuitable number of clusters might lead to incorrect conclusions and, consequently, to wrong decisions: the term “optimal” is quite ambiguous. Furthermore, various inherent characteristics of the datasets, such as clusters that overlap or clusters containing subclusters, will most often increase the level of difficulty of the task. Thus, the methods used to detect similarities and the parameter selection of the partition algorithm have a major impact on the quality of the groups and the identification of their optimal number. Given that each dataset constitutes a rather distinct case, validity indices are indicators introduced to address the problem of selecting such an optimal number of clusters. In this work, an extensive set of well-known validity indices, based on the approach of the so-called relative criteria, are examined comparatively. A total of 26 cluster validation measures were investigated in two distinct case studies: one in real-world and one in artificially generated data. To ensure a certain degree of difficulty, both real-world and generated data were selected to exhibit variations and inhomogeneity. Each of the indices is being deployed under the schemes of 9 different clustering methods, which incorporate 5 different distance metrics. All results are presented in various explanatory forms.

A conceptual framework employing the distinction between stimulus-centered and subject-centered scales is presented as a basis for reviewing 80 years of literature on the optimal number of response alternatives for a scale. Concepts and research from information theory and the absolute judgment paradigm of psychophysics are used. The author reviews the major factors influencing the quality of scaled information, points out areas in particular need of additional research, and makes some recommendations for the applied researcher.

The problem of determining the control action, the optimal number and combination of hydraulic cylinders required to guide the tunnel shield along the project axis of the tunnel with the required accuracy is consid-ered. An algorithm for the formation of a combination of hydraulic cylinders for moving the shield is applied, creating an effort in accordance with the magnitude of the control action, determined by the deflection of the shield in the vertical and horizontal planes. Analytical expressions for determining the control parameters are given. Modeling the process of controlling the movement of the tunneling shield showed that the proposed method provides the required accuracy of guiding the tunneling shield in accordance with the design direction.

The article considers the management of an atmospheric column by using of dynamic rectification model. The criteria of management are defined. The method the optimization is chosen. The article deals with the patterns of behavior of students who participate in the training of communication skills. Observation of different participants in standardized situations revealed that there are recurring personality characteristics of responding to the situation of interpersonal interaction. The individual peculiarities of use by participants of adjectives during the training process are discussed. Discusses the patterns that are associated with the peculiarities of the personality of the participants and are manifested in the performance of training exercises. The main theories and tests related to the identification of typological personality traits are analyzed. The introduction of parameters specific to the description of behavior allows distinguishing typological groups. To solve the clustering problem, a non-numerical description of the elements of behavior elements was used. The matrix of output data was created from the set of descriptions of the adjectives of the sample of participants. An Elbow method was used to determine the optimal number of clusters. The matrix was subjected to an agglomeration cluster analysis procedure using the k-medium method for cluster integration. It was found that most of the emotional states and behavioral reactions, which were described by adjectives, as a result of analysis can be the basis for the distribution of participants in the types, depending on the frequency of manifestation of the interrelated behavioral features. For representatives of each cluster, specific forms of motivation are offered. Proposals for improving the quality of the facilitator training team are put forward. The authors propose the use of the typology developed by them to motivate and predict the behavior of participants.

The work is devoted to searching for optimal control methods for contact center, in particular, methods for predicting the load for further calculation of required number of operators. If the number of operators is always more than required, then the owners of the contact center will incur financial losses. If there are too few employees, the quality of service will decline. Predicting the load of the contact center is required in order to bring the optimal number of operators to work in advance. It is proposed to apply chaos theory to predict the incoming load of a contact center. Positive value of the Lyapunov index indicates the chaotic behavior of the input flow of the load. To predict the load, the methods of linear and nonlinear forecasting and the method of global approximation are used. The paper presents the results of comparing these methods for the problem of predicting the incoming load of contact center.

This paper analyzes the basis of the concept of sustainable development and refers to the optimal level of space use for tourist purposes. In doing so, a special attention is mostly paid to negative impacts of tourism on space, i.e. the necessity of spatial limitation of tourism development in order to preserve and protect natural and created resources. An intensive and uncontrolled development of tourism in the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century caused the degradation of the environment, the destruction of ecosystems and other social and cultural conflicts in the tourist area. For these reasons, it is necessary to align the planning of the future development of tourism with the principles of sustainable development by using different indicators. The main goal of this paper is to analyze various indicators of sustainable development that determine the possibility of using space in tourism, as well as sustainable tourism development. When selecting the indicators of future development, certain criteria must be taken into consideration, such as the criterion of relevance, feasibility (availability), credibility, and so on. The essence of use of the indicators is to determine the optimal number of potential visitors and facilities in the tourist area, without significantly affecting the environment, reducing the quality of tourist experience (sensation) or jeopardizing the sense of identity, lifestyle and activities of the domicile population.

A great number of calls enter call centres daily. It is difficult to determine the state of the call cenre without evaluation of the indicators of the call centre operational level. In order to control all significant indicators it is necessary to have software, which will allow a real-time monitoring of various data. The paper describes all significant indicators of operational level of the call centre, such as the duration of waiting for the answer; volume of calls; the duration of call treatment; service level indicator; the percentage of those calls, which helped to fix the problem; the quality of conducted services. The assignments of each of them are discussed, definatory formulae and examples of some indicators are given, criteria for selection of an optimal number of call centre operators are analyzed, theoretical and practical assessments of various indicators of calls are conducted and necessary recommendations for improving the performance of a call cenre are formed as well.

Segmentasi pelanggan pada perusahaan merupakan tindakan yang dapat mempermudah perusahaan dalam mengambil keputusan ke depan. Pada penelitian ini data yang digunakan berasal dari perusahaan otomotif, PT Hasjrat Abadi Ambon. Data yang dipakai terdiri dari data transaksi dan pelanggan kendaraan bermotor. Penerapan model RFM dapat mengelompokkan pelanggan-pelanggan berdasarkan nilai variabel Recency, Frequency dan Monetary. Hasil dari model RFM akan memperoleh status baru pada tiap pelanggan dari skala terbaik sampai terburuk. Pelanggan yang telah memiliki status akan dikelompokkan menggunakan metode K-Means menjadi beberapa Cluster(kelompok). Dalam menentukan jumlah Cluster yang optimal maka diterapkan metode Elbow. Algoritma yang digunakan dalam pembentukan Cluster terdiri dari Euclidean Distance dan Manhattan Distance. Kedua algoritma akan dibandingkan kualitas pembentukan Clusternya menggunakan metode Silhoutte Coefficient. Hasil yang diberikan pada penelitian ini berupa data yang terbagi atas 5 kelompok dengan dilakukannya lima kali pengujian untuk menentukan centroid yang unggul. Cluster yang unggul akan dibuatkan visualisasi datanya untuk memudahkan perusahaan dalam mengambil keputusan. Berdasarkan penerapan Silhoutte Coefficient, algoritma yang lebih unggul yaitu Manhattan Distance dengan nilai s(i) sebesar 0.152695. Customer segmentation at the company is an action that can facilitate the company in making decisions going forward. In this study the data used came from an automotive company, PT Hasjrat Abadi Ambon. The data used consists of transaction data and motor vehicle customers. The application of the RFM model can classify customers based on the value of the Recency, Frequency and Monetary variables. The results of the RFM model will obtain a new status on each customer from the best to the worst scale. Customers who already have status will be grouped using the K-Means method into several Clusters (groups). In determining the optimal number of Clusters, the Elbow method is applied. The algorithm used in Cluster formation consists of Euclidean Distance and Manhattan Distance. The two algorithms will be compared the quality of the Cluster formation using the Silhoutte Coefficient method. The results given in this study are in the form of data divided into 5 groups by conducting five tests to determine superior centroids. Excellent clusters will be made of data visualization to facilitate the company in making decisions. Based on the application of Silhoutte Coefficient, a superior algorithm is Manhattan Distance with value s(i) : 0.152695.
