The participation of women in entrepreneurship plays a significant role in economic development especially in reducing unemployment, increasing production and consumption, achieving gender equality, social and cultural reforms. One of the dominant areas for women is batik and songket entrepreneurs who are synonymous with women on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Studies have identified three key elements that contribute to the development of this craft entrepreneur, viz. attitude, business inheritance and religious value culture. Qualitative design methods based on case studies and in-depth interviews were used in this study on 12 informants in the state of Kelantan and Terengganu in Malaysia. The findings show that there are three main factors that cause the formation of women handicraft entrepreneurs, namely attitude, family heritage and religious values. Hence, all the factors that make up a female handicraft entrepreneur in Malaysia are discussed in this article. The findings imply that increasing women entrepreneurs in handicrafts can raise the quality of handicraft products into becoming the best tourism products in the East Coast.

Referring to the Malaysian National Security Council, disaster is defined as a catastrophic situation that claimed many lives and caused extensive damage to property and potentially endangers the public peace and security. In Malaysia, there were few natural disaster events that can be said to be among the worst ever in terms of the number of deaths and damages. However, these occurrences were not as severe as overseas. At the end of December 2014, there was a catastrophic flood called as the 'Bah Kuning' was hitting the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It resulted in almost 85% of the total Kuala Krai area inundated by flood water. One of the elements in post-disaster recovery is rebuilding shelter for victims. Regardless, it is important to research on residents’ satisfaction as it will affect the well-being directly or indirectly. Thus, a study was carried out to evaluate the satisfaction of residents (victims) on the “New Permanent Houses” (Rumah Kekal Baharu, RKB) that they received from the redevelopment project. A questionnaire survey was carried out to collect and understand respondents’ satisfaction on the redevelopment of their housing area, in specific, the quality of their newly reconstructed houses and the supporting facilities or infrastructure in their area. From the analysis, it was found that majority of the respondents were satisfied with their newly redeveloped houses and the infrastructure. The satisfaction level was associated with the locational and land ownership factors.

The article considers the potential territorial mobility of youth, which refers to the willingness of young people to move outside their current residence. The sociological study was conducted in 2019, the object of which were students and working youth of Yekaterinburg. We interviewed 750 boys and girls by questioning method. In addition, 22 in-depth interviews were conducted, as well as an expert survey. The research materials indicate that the young generation is focused on moving to other settlements, among which the most attractive are the capital cities of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg) and Europe (Prague, Barcelona, Vienna). The main factors of the attractiveness of the territories are, first of all, new opportunities for self-realization, as well as the quality of the urban environment. The city should also have a special unique history and architecture. Among the factors of youth consolidation in a certain territory are the presence of social ties and relations, as well as a stable material status. The territorial identity deserves special attention, which becomes a condition for the youth to settle. The presence of events that perform the function of integrating urban residents into the urban community, as well as the development of park / walking areas in the territory contribute to the formation of identity.

Subject/Topic. The formation of tracks of sustainable development of territories remains an important task in the implementation of regional policy. Management decisions should be based on the results of the analysis of the socio-ecological-economic situation and the emerging trends in this area. The application of the method of sustainability window analysis based on the integration of economic, environmental and social components of sustainable development makes it possible to evaluate the quality of economic growth. Goals/Objectives. To explore the boundaries of the window of sustainability of economic development of regions, and to provide a qualitative characteristic of economic growth from a sustainability point of view. Methodology. A review of scientific sources was conducted and approaches to the assessment of sustainable development were considered. Methods of statistical and comparative analysis of data were applied. Comparable indicators that reflect the components of sustainable development of regions were calculated. Calculations were made and the boundaries of sustainable development of the North-Western Federal District (NWFD) regions were quantitatively assessed using the method of sustainability window analysis. Results. The boundaries of the sustainability window were determined for the regions of North-Western Federal District using three environmental indicators. It is revealed that not all regions of the district have the characteristics of qualitative economic growth. Calculations using «atmospheric emissions» as an environmental indicator showed that in most regions of North-Western Federal District there is a tendency to increase the available sustainability window. The calculations for the indicator «volumes of polluted wastewater discharge» also show positive trends. And for the indicator «volumes of production and consumption waste generation» only two out of ten regions have an available sustainability window, which indicates a negative trend in economic development. As a result, the most problematic area, characteristic of most regions of NWFD, has been identified, which is the «formation of production and consumption waste». Conclusions/significance. The study showed the presence of imbalances in economic growth from the perspective of sustainable development in North-Western Federal District. The method of sustainability window analysis allows using various statistical indicators that reflect economic, environmental and social processes in the region and is an accessible analytical tool. Solving the problems of waste generation reduction, waste disposal and recycling will improve the quality of economic development. Application. The method of sustainability window analysis can be used as an analytical tool for assessing the quality of economic growth. The results of the study can be practically applied in the formation of regional policy and managerial decisions of the authorities in the sphere of socio-economic development on the principles of sustainability, taking into account environmental, economic and social factors.
