We evaluated the response of Kentucky bluegrass (Pea pratensis L.) turf to urea amended with the urease inhibitors PPD, NBPT, and ATS and with the cations K+ (KCl) and Mg+2 (MgCl2). Treatments for the 2-year field experiment included liquid urea applied monthly in June to Sept. 1985 and 1986 at 49 kg N/ha with PPD (1%, 2%, 3% by weight of applied N), NBPT (0.5%, 1%, 2%), ATS (5%, 15%, 25%), K+ (5%, 15%, 25%), and Mg+2 (5%, 15%, 25%). The NBPT was included only in the 1986 field study. The Mg+2 and K+ reduced foliar burn and increased turf quality during mid- and late Summer 1985 at the 5% rate, but clipping yield was not affected by any treatment. In 1986, under milder climatic conditions, PPD and NBPT increased clipping yield by 13.2% and 15.2%, respectively. At the 15% rate, ATS increased clipping yield by 15.1%, but, on average, PPD and NBPT were much more effective. Chemical names used: phenylphosphorodiamidate (PPD), N-(n -butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT), and ammonium thiosulfate (ATS).

Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali sehingga diperoleh 12 unit percobaan. Abstract: Ammonium thiosulfate and Sodium thiosulfate as chelating material in the Phytoremediation process using Paspalum conjugatum (Paitan Grass). The method used in this study is an experimental method conducted in the field from May to July 2017. The study was designed using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with a variety of treatments: PAT1 = giving 1 gr Ammonium thiosulfate, PAT2 = giving 2 gr Ammonium thiosulfate giving, PST1 = giving 1 gr Sodium thiosulfate, PST2 = giving 2 grams of Sodium thiosulfate. Each treatment was repeated three times to obtain 12 experimental units. The parameters observed in this study include the concentration of Hg in plants, the weight of stature, and plant height. Observation data were analyzed using the standard deviation of the mean. The chelating agent Ammonium thiosulfate is higher in binding to Hg compared to Sodium thiosulfate. The highest concentration of total Hg was found in Ammonium thiosulfate treatment with a dose of 2 gr / 15 liters of 1137.87 ppm. The higher the concentration of Hg on the soil resulted in stunted plant growth.

The use of immunogold-silver staining (IGSS) to enhance label penetration and Localization for immunocytochemistry or in situ hybridization utilizing a variety of metallic salts has been documented. In this morphological study, the effects of silver acetate, silver lactate and silver nitrate were evaluated for immunogold-labeling of a trial natriuretic peptides (ANP) in rat right atria.Eight Wistar Kyoto retired breeders were sedated with pentobarbital, perfused with either 4% paraformaldehyde (LM) or Karnovsky's fixative (EM), and right atria were dissected, processed, embedded in paraffin or epon, respectively and sectioned according to conventional methods. For light microscopy, an indirect IGSS method according to Hacker (3) was performed. Paraffin sections on glass slides were washed in ddH2O, immersed in Lugol's iodine, washed in ddH2O and treated with 2.5% aqueous sodium thiosulfate for 20 sec. After additional washes in ddH2O and TBS-0.1% fish gelatin, 10% normal goat serum (PBS with 1% BSA) was applied for 20 min before an overnight incubation at 4°C with a polyclonal α-ANP primary antibody (Peninsula Labs, 1:1000 in TBS/BSA).

Early thinning of apples is important because of its impact on fruit size and next season's flower bud initiation. In the past, apple cultivars were often sprayed with the blossom thinner sodium dinitro-ortho-cresol(Elgetol) during full bloom, followed by a post-bloom application of a fruit thinner such as carbaryl with or without naphthalene acetic acid (NAA). Elgetol was removed from the market in 1989 because of the high cost of re-registration. Full-bloom sprays of sulfcarbamide (Wilthin), pelargonic acid (Thinex), and endothalic acid (Endothal), ammonium thiosulfate (ATS) or petal fall spray of carbaryl (Sevin XLR Plus) were developed as replacements for Elgetol. Hydrogen cyanamide (HC) and other chemicals have been used to eliminate or to reduce chilling requirements of peaches grown under the warm desert conditions. HC applied at “pink bloom” stage was observed to reduce the number of open blooms in `Florda Prince' peach; therefore, it was first used for blossom thinning in this cultivar in Arizona. Later, HC was also found to be an effective blossom thinner for plums in Idaho. HC has recently been found to effectively thin apple and peach blossoms. Armothin has also been an effective blossom thinner for peach in California.

A method for measuring both dissolved ozone (DO3) concentration and UV absorbance was developed adopting ultraviolet (UV) absorption method (JWWA, 1993) using sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) solution for removing residual ozone in ozonated water. A DO3 monitor based on this method was tested. This method was proven to be effective from experimental results. The performance of the monitor was examined with continuous ozonated water. As a result, the monitor performed stably during about 2 months, so that both DO3 concentration and UV absorbance in the ozonated water could be accurately measured. Therefore, the authors have proposed the new aquatic control system with this monitor for ozonation.
