Development of a monitor to simultaneously measure dissolved ozone and organic matter in ozonated water

A method for measuring both dissolved ozone (DO3) concentration and UV absorbance was developed adopting ultraviolet (UV) absorption method (JWWA, 1993) using sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) solution for removing residual ozone in ozonated water. A DO3 monitor based on this method was tested. This method was proven to be effective from experimental results. The performance of the monitor was examined with continuous ozonated water. As a result, the monitor performed stably during about 2 months, so that both DO3 concentration and UV absorbance in the ozonated water could be accurately measured. Therefore, the authors have proposed the new aquatic control system with this monitor for ozonation.

UV absorption is one of the important properties of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM). The UV absorption spectral characteristics of dissolved organic matter (DOM) were analyzed to infer the main components in Taiyuan urban section. Based on the UV absorption spectral characteristics of the CDOM, and relationship between DOC concentration and UV absorbance, conclusions were drawn: (1) Content of DOM in the treated section was at a low degree and constituent.The anthropogenic pollution accounted for a major role. (2)DOM constituents in Taiyuan section in May, July and November were relatively simple. The molecular structure of mainly CDOM was simple with mostly two or three species among the hydroxyl, carboxyl and phenyl. However, DOM constituent in September was more complicated, there were more non-fluorescent substances besides CDOM.

To control wheeled inverted pendulum is a good way to test all kinds of theories of control. The control law is designed, and it based on the collaborative simulation of MATLAB and ADAMS is used to control wheeled inverted pendulum. Then, with own design of hardware and software of control system, sliding mode control is used to wheeled inverted pendulum, and the experimental results of it indicate short adjusting time, the small overshoot and high performance.

The effect of decomposition and diagenesis of sediment organic matter (SOM) on the adsorption of emerging pollutants by the sediment has been seldom addressed. In the present experimental study, artificial sediment was incubated to simulate the natural organic diagenesis process and hence investigate the influence of organic diagenesis on the adsorption of tetracyclines (TCs) by marine sediment. During a period of 4 months of incubation, SOM initially added into the sediment underwent biodegradation and diagenesis. The results showed an early decrease in TC adsorption by the sediment, which was likely caused by the competition between the microbial organic products and TC molecules for the adsorption sites. Afterward, TC adsorption by the sediment increased significantly, which was mainly due to the accumulation of condensed SOM. The experimental results indicate the interactions between TCs and the sediment during the dynamic process of SOM diagenesis. Moreover, the remaining SOM is shown to have an increasing affinity with the antibiotics.

An automatic control system for multi-axes motions based on multi-CPU embedded systems is proposed in the paper, in order to overcome insufficiencies of available multi-axes automatic dispensing control systems. It is shown from experimental results that expected control objectives for multi-axes motions are achieved.

In this paper, the established control system and its control algorism of a new twin roll strip caster developed by authors is presented. It is illustrated the roll-gap control strategy of the twin roll strip caster based on a feed forward-feedback system. From the experimental results, the susceptibility of control convergence time, stable and accurate are shown on a higher level than traditional control strategy.

With the continuous development of milling machine, the normal milling machine was not suitable with modern processing. In order to adapt to the requirements of modern production process and quality, the electrical control system of milling machine need be improved. The electrical control system and circuit of X62W milling machine is analyzed and designed. The PLC program is compiled. All of it is proved to be reasonably and feasibly based on the experimental results.

Abstract Circular disk is a basic mechanical element, which is used widely in industry such as turbine machine, circular saw, and computer memory. Considering the requirements for the actuator to control the transverse vibration of circular disk, the non-contact electromagnetic actuator which can produce large actuating force is used, and a whole set of control system that is composed of analog components is built. The good experimental results are obtained by using the control system to control the transverse vibration of circular disk.
