The increasing number of Muslims in Europe gave rise to a hijaber phenomenon that no longer fears to show a religious identity by using hijab. However, conditions that are still less support actually positioned these hijabers in situations that are less comfortable. Discriminatory treatment is still often they receive only because they are veiled, both from family and from the surrounding environment, especially the rejection received by the converts. This rejection of hijab is primarily due to the phenomenon of Islamophobia that infects almost all countries in the world, including in Europe. This paper aims to capture the discrimination and discriminatory treatment experienced by the hijabers in the Netherlands as well as the real effort they are undertaking to respond to this challenge, one of their efforts is to innovate models and creations of hijab, so that hijab is no longer the reason for the treatment Discriminatory against them.<br />---<br /><br />Meningkatnya jumlah pemeluk Islam di Eropa memunculkan fenomena hijaber yang tidak lagi merasa takut untuk menunjukkan identitas keberagamaan dengan menggunakan hijab. Namun, kondisi yang masih kurang mendukung justru memposisikan para hijaber ini dalam situasi yang kurang nyaman. Perlakuan yang diskriminatif masih sering mereka terima hanya karena mereka berhijab, baik dari keluarga maupun dari lingkungan sekitar, terutama penolakan yang diterima para muallaf. Penolakan terhadap hijab ini terutama disebabkan oleh fenomena islamopobia yang menjangkiti hampir seluruh negara di dunia, termasuk di Eropa. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk memotret penolakan dan perlakuan diskriminatif yang dialami oleh para hijaber di Belanda serta usaha nyata yang mereka lakukan untuk menjawab tantangan ini, salah satu usaha yang mereka lakukan adalah dengan inovasi berbagai model dan kreasi hijab, sehingga hijab tidak lagi menjadi alasan atas perlakuan diskriminatif terhadap mereka.

Identity is significant issue in the world. Pakistani-American Muslim women faced the problems of identity because they got different treatment in the society. This study reveals how do Pakistani-American Muslim women negotiate their identity and the result of negotiation? This research was done under descriptive qualitative research. The data of the research are the words, phrases, and sentences from diasporic literature entitled Saffron Dreams by Shaila Abdullah that published in 2009.  To analyze the data, this study used postcolonial theory based on Bhabha’s hybridity and Tomey’s identity negotiation concept. Based on the research, it is found that Pakistan American Muslim women negotiate their identity by mindful negotiation namely adapting American culture and shaping hybrid identity. They change their fashion style by putting off their veils. They replace Arabic name into American style to hide their religious identity. In building the house they American building with Arabian nuance. On the other hand, in assimilating the culture to get a job, Pakistani American Muslim women must fight harder because of the striking differences in culture and the idealism they believe in.

<span class="fontstyle0">This paper analyses the co-integration relationship between globalisation and economic<br />growth of 27 more or less developed countries across almost all Continents for the time period<br />1970–2013. Globalisation is </span><span class="fontstyle2">proxied </span><span class="fontstyle0">by the overall globalisation index and the sub-indices<br />representing economic globalisation, social globalisation and political globalisation, all<br />provided by the Swiss Economic Institute. Economic growth is measured through the natural<br />logarithm of the real Gross Domestic Product, sourced from the World Development<br />Indicators which are provided by the World Bank. Co-integration is tested with quantile cointegration regressions. The results obtained clearly confirm the existence of non-linear cointegration relationships between the considered globalisation indices and the real economic<br />growth.</span>

We can rightly say that sport is the real source of multiculturalism, as it connects different people from different countries into a world community. Everybody finds enjoyment either in participating or in watching different sports events. Sport reduces stress and is especially important in lives of children because it enhances their self-confidence and keeps them healthy and fit. The language of sport is rich and encompasses different terms and expressions which are mainly internationally known and accepted without translation in almost all the countries of the world of today. The paper deals with different categories of words and their production, as well as with the specific idioms and phrases which appear in particular sports.

Aim: CO2 emissions and the related climate change are a global problem, where the direct impact of actions of individual countries depends on their total share in CO2 emissions. In order to assess the potential for policy measures, the openness of an economy, and the related import and export and their impacts on emissions should be considered. The aim of this paper is the attempt to show the real CO2 emissions of the Netherlands as well as the impact of its trade on CO2 emissions in other countries in the world and in the EU in 2015.Design / Research methods: This study was conducted on the group of countries that are the major emitters of CO2 in the world including most of the EU members. Countries with negligible CO2 emissions were omitted. Actual CO2 emissions were obtained by applying the actual emission factor. This takes into account the transfer of CO2 in export products and services as well as those imported by particular countries.Conclusions / findings: The real CO2 emissions in the Netherlands are significantly different from the gross values, which represent the CO2 emissions in the particular countries. It is also important to indicate that isolated actions of a single country within the European Union itself do not deliver the intended global and regional target – significant CO2 emissions reduction. The approach proposed in this study, when applied, may have serious implications for individual EU member states in implementing their energy policy objectives.Originality / value of the article: The article shows a different approach to the issue of CO2 emission, including the importance of international trade in a globalizing world.

Abstract Global expressivism is the radical view that we should never think of any of our language and thought as representing the world. While interesting, global expressivism has not yet been clearly formulated, and its defenders often use unexplained terms of art to characterise their view. I fix this problem by carefully and clearly exploring the different ways in which we can interpret globalism. I reject almost all of them either because they are implausible or because they are bad interpretations of actual globalist views. I then argue that the most promising version of globalism, which we can find in the work of Huw Price, turns out to be completely compatible with the view of so-called ‘local’ expressivists. The debate between globalists and localists is therefore empty: the real interest in this topic lies not in this debate but in whether globalism is true and if so what follows from it.

The conference Islam in a Changing Europe was held amid growingconcern about the future of Islamic and other minority conununities inEurope. The organizers, Hafiz Mirza and David Weir (both at the ManagementCentre), Waqar Ahmad, Charles Husband, and Reg Walker (Departmentof Social and Economic Studies), regarded it as opportune forseveral reasons. First, the Gulf War, the tragic situation in Bosnia, and thecontinuing crises throughout Europe and the Middle East are grim buttimely reminders of the tensions pervading European and Islamic relations,despite strong political, social, and economic ties of mutual interest.The impact on European Muslims is of particular concern, as they are thelarge t minority in Europe and thus primary targets of the "new" racism.Second, this precarious position is further affected by the EuropeanCommunity's pursuit of a Single European Market and, ultimately, a unifiedpolity. The large Islamic communities in the EC, the geographicalproximity of the Islamic world, and the "demonization" of Islam in thewe tern media and political imagination rai e the specter of "Europeanness"being defined in contradistinction to "Islam." Rising fasci t attackson minority conununities throughout Europe are the harbinger of dimgersthat must be understood and addressed now. Moreover, these attacks aremerely the overt manifestations of underlying social change in Europe.The implications for Muslims in Europe need to be examined, as they arcpotentially more invidious because of their subtle and subliminal impact.Finally, and symbolically, in marked contrast to the triumphalist celebrationsin Spain and elsewhere, and a a warning that today's racist andfascist attacks on "non-Europeans" have deep-rooted historical antecedents,it is worth recalling that 1992 is also the five-hundredth anniversaryof the European invasion of the Americas, the expulsion of theJews from Spain, and the extinction of the Muslim kingdom of Granada.In sum, the organizers opined that the position of all minorities willbe thrown into harp relief by the European quest for identity as the majoritycultures of the EC (and further afield) seek to integrate. Islamwould perforce act as the "Other" for a variety of reasons. The focus onIslam was not intended to suggest that the consequences of ongoing276 The American Journal of Islamic Social Sciences 102events in Europe for other minorities were insignificant, but that Islambeingon the front line, as it were-could be treated as a metaphor for theserious predicament of all minorities in a changing Europe. With the helpof a contribution of six thousand pounds sterling from CCETSW (theCentral Council for Education and Training in Social Work), the conferencewas convened to examine the many issues relating to "Islam in aChanging Europe" at both the conceptual and the concrete levels.The conference took place over three days. Yetwhile the discussions were robust and many different positions werevigorously asserted and defended, there was an exceptional lack of personalanimosity. There was a very real sense of dialogue between the participantsand a commitment to sharing both analyses and experience.The mixture of Islamic scholars, community activists, academics, andother interested individuals, as well as of Muslims and non-Muslims,proved to be an important ingredient in facilitating the successful exchangeof perspectives. In the 21st century, the world became a sign of globalization: global conflicts, global disasters, global economy, global Internet, etc. The Polish researcher Casimir Zhigulsky defines globalization as a kind of process, that is, the target set of characteristic changes that develop over time and occur in the modern world. These changes in general are reduced to mutual rapprochement, reduction of distances, the rapid appearance of a large number of different connections, contacts, exchanges, and to increase the dependence of society in almost all spheres of his life from what is happening in other, often very remote regions of the world.
