This study focuses on understanding communal conflicts in Indonesia, which are triggered by stereotyping. Indonesians have undergone communal conflicts, especially in the late 1990s. The conflicts were mainly religious and ethnic, suggesting serious tensions in stereotyping between religious and ethnic groups. In this case, the paper seeks to underline the importance of multicultural education in the school context. Education is considered having a strategic role in building positive circumstances among people. Multicultural education is expected to minimize the possibility of building negative stereotyping of one person against another, which could cause conflict. This qualitative study incorporates a literature review of multicultural education and communal conflicts in the Indonesian context.

This paper is to examine the role academic libraries can play to organize and make indigenous knowledge accessible for national development. The target audience for the paper are academic librarians in Ghana, researchers of African studies in Ghana and other stakeholders. This is a qualitative study with data from interviews with the librarians and a desk-top literature review. Academic librarians in Ghana recognize the importance of indigenous knowledge organization, but little has been done by way of research. Most academic libraries in Ghana have the basic resources to manage indigenous knowledge. Academic librarians need to be proactive in their collaborative efforts to manage indigenous knowledge. Academic librarians in Ghana should be proactive towards effective management of indigenous knowledge, for easy accessibility. Again, academic libraries need to be well resourced to manage indigenous knowledge. Finally, academic libraries need to create awareness about the importance of indigenous knowledge using different media platforms to all stakeholders.

This study aims to analyze the teachers' manners contained in the book of Adab al-Alim wa al-Muta’allim by K.H.M. Hasyim Asya'ari from a psychological perspective. This study was a qualitative study with a literature review approach. These manners had been classified into several categories and then were analyzed with a psychological perspective. The results showed that, first, the teachers' manners could be classified into 6 categories. They are manners related to inner behavior, prayer and practical deed, exemplary, scientific competence, good relationship, and teaching techniques. Second, After had been analyzed from a psychological perspective, the results showed that manners being related to inner behavior, prayer, and practical deed were relevant with al-Quran dan al-Hadits; manners being related to exemplary and scientific competence were associated with Bandura's social cognitive theory; manners being related to a good relationship and teaching techniques were linked with the theory of cognitivism and humanism.

This study aims to analyse the implementation of new rice field plan  policies in Indonesia and their impacts on population and ethnic composition in new rice field locations. This research is conducted by applying a literature review method. It is shown that the implementation of the policies had two major implications. Firstly, it creates assimilation opportunities through collaboration between ethnic migrants and local ethnic groups to work on or cultivate new rice fields. Secondly, the great flows of transmigrants that move to the new rice field locations trigger ethnic polarization, which is prone to cause inter-ethnic conflict. In the future, potential problems associated with the provision of new rice fields are available are the risk of having aging population. The aging population indicates a decrease in productive labor that may also affect on decreasing attractiveness of the rice fields to the younger generation. This situation can lead to the re-involvement of older generation in managing the new rice fields. However, it can raise a new concern on their ability to improve the rice fields’ productivity or, even worse, the new rice fields might be neglected or be sold.

The purpose of the research is to describe code mixing or billingualisme in communication among students of Al Hikmah Sukoharjo Islamic Boarding School. Daily conversation among students was analyzed as data of the research. This is descriptive qualitative study which use participant observation technique. technique of analysis was used by the researcher before, during, and after research in the field. This technique emphasize several stages namely data collection, data reduction, display data and conclusion. Data collection was obtained in two weeks then classified  into sub category then drawn conclusion. The findings showed that some code mixings were used by students frequently were Javannese, Indonesia and arabic. The findings showed that billingualism wudu consists of  1) word insertion, 2) phrases insertion, 3) clauses insertion, and 4) idiom insertion.The main factor in using billingualism in communication among students is multicultural, education level of speaker and purpose of speech. Todays large cities are continually evolving human ecosystem, delivering many services to citizens. The dramatic urbanisation processes and increasing numbers of the population in cities put many strains on city infrastructure and services. XXI century urbanisation issues require robust strategies and innovative planning for their future. Easily cities are characterised as smart or intelligent without regard to clear criteria or specification for a city. There are different opinions regarding smart cities, arguing that it may bring positive social and economic change, developed governance and human capital. However, these aspects are heavily achievable without eliminating the present discrepancy in planning. The purpose of the article is to clarify and identify the characteristics of smartness based on current scholar research. The qualitative study overview on integrative literature review and seven Baltic region cities case study explores possible characteristics, and various city dimension factors which can make a city smart.

This paper analyzes Mohammad Hatta's idea of modern Islamic education. Mohammad Hatta is not only known as a national figure and the first Indonesian vice president, but also a faithful, active individual in the field of Islamic education. He also expresses his idea regarding Islamic education in papers. Islamic education discourse still emerges as an important discussion topic today. This paper is the result of a qualitative study with literature review. The study aimed to discover Mohammad Hatta’s idea of modern Islamic education, which still emerges as a problem in today's Indonesian Islamic education. In this case, it is necessary to provide a representative, modern Islamic education in order to deliver ideal Muslim scholars. The study found that the construct of Mohammad Hatta’s idea on modern Islamic education was to create coherence between religion and modern science, comprising sociology, history, and philosophy. Such an idea is not merely an abstract, it was applied through the establishment of Sekolah Tinggi Islam (Islamic College) in 1945 as a modern Islamic higher education.
