Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a group of transcripts with fundamental roles in the carcinogenesis. DSCAM Antisense RNA 1 (DSCAM−AS1) is an example of this group of transcripts which has been firstly identified in an attempt to find differentially expressed transcripts between breast tumor cells and benign breast samples. The pathogenic roles of DSCAM-AS1 have been vastly assessed in breast cancer, yet its roles are not restricted to this type of cancer. Independent studies in non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, osteosarcoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, melanoma and cervical cancer have validated participation of DSCAM-AS1 in the carcinogenic processes. miR-577, miR-122-5p, miR-204-5p, miR-136, miR−137, miR−382, miR−183, miR−99, miR-3173-5p, miR-874-3p, miR-874-3p, miR-150-5p, miR-2467-3p, miR-216b, miR-384, miR-186-5p, miR-338-3p, miR-877-5p and miR-101 are among miRNAs which interact with DSCAM-AS1. Moreover, this lncRNA has interactions with Wnt/β-catenin pathway. The current study aims at summarization of the results of studies which focused on the assessment of oncogenic role of DSCAM-AS1.

In this work, 21 novel (1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole)-dihydropyrimidinone (1,2,3-trzl-DHPM) type hybrids were synthesized and characterized. These were divided into two types: hybrids A (5 in total) containing the dihydropyrimidinone heterocyclic ring decorated with a 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole in the C-5 position [these compounds were accessed by a multicomponent copper(I)-catalyzed azide alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) (or click)–Biginelli reactions with satisfactory yields (39–57%)] and hybrids B (16 in total) containing two 1,2,3-triazole units in the C-5 and C-6 methyl position of the DHPM. Hybrids B were synthesized via functionalization of the C-6 methyl group of hybrids A, a multistep sequence of reactions was used that included bromination, azidation, and a CuAAC. Hybrids B were obtained in very good to excellent yields (up to 99%). Some hybrids A and B were evaluated for their antiproliferative activity against different cancer cell lines that included A549 and SW1573 (non-small-cell lung), HBL-100 and T-47D (breast), HeLa (cervix) and WiDr (colon). Three of these hybrids were potent cell proliferation inhibitors of non-small-cell lung cancer, cervix cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer.

AbstractUsing the method of meta-analysis to systematically evaluate the consistency of treatment schemes between Watson for Oncology (WFO) and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), and to provide references for the practical application of artificial intelligence clinical decision-support system in cancer treatment. We systematically searched articles about the clinical applications of Watson for Oncology in the databases and conducted meta-analysis using RevMan 5.3 software. A total of 9 studies were identified, including 2463 patients. When the MDT is consistent with WFO at the ‘Recommended’ or the ‘For consideration’ level, the overall concordance rate is 81.52%. Among them, breast cancer was the highest and gastric cancer was the lowest. The concordance rate in stage I–III cancer is higher than that in stage IV, but the result of lung cancer is opposite (P < 0.05).Similar results were obtained when MDT was only consistent with WFO at the "recommended" level. Moreover, the consistency of estrogen and progesterone receptor negative breast cancer patients, colorectal cancer patients under 70 years old or ECOG 0, and small cell lung cancer patients is higher than that of estrogen and progesterone positive breast cancer patients, colorectal cancer patients over 70 years old or ECOG 1–2, and non-small cell lung cancer patients, with statistical significance (P < 0.05). Treatment recommendations made by WFO and MDT were highly concordant for cancer cases examined, but this system still needs further improvement. Owing to relatively small sample size of the included studies, more well-designed, and large sample size studies are still needed.
