Development of tourism affected the socio-cultural environment of many destinations. Previous studies have focused more on analyzing the impact of tourism on all three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, environment and socio-cultural); therefore, the present paper examines tourism development’s impact with regard to the socio-cultural benefits that enhance sustainable tourism development. A survey based on a questionnaire was employed in June 2018 in a mountain village in Cluj County, Romania. The collected data were analyzed using principal component analysis, and several statistical tests were conducted. The results indicated that the respondents have a positive attitude towards tourism development and socio-cultural perceived benefits. Older people and those running a business tend to perceive more positively the benefits of tourism development. The findings of the research could contribute to future development strategies, as it is well known that supporting local communities influences the success of tourism destination.

BACKGROUND: Tourism development can have a positive or negative impact on the lives of local communities. AIM: This systematic review aims to determine the impact of tourism on the quality of life (QoL) of people in tourist destination areas. METHODS: The search was conducted on the Science Direct database, Taylor Francis, EBSCO Host, Wiley Online Library, and Google Scholar. The keywords used were “residents’ QoL” AND impacts of tourism. Inclusion criteria were articles that focus on the QoL of people in tourist destination areas, published from 2015 to 2019 in peer-reviewed journals, in English. Articles were excluded if they were qualitative studies, literature reviews, and if full papers were unavailable. The review was conducted on 18 articles selected from 673 articles obtained in the initial search. RESULTS: Tourism has an impact on the QoL of local communities. In general, the domains that are perceived as being positively affected are the improvement of the economy, employment opportunities, community pride, cultural exchanges, and increased facilities availability. Meanwhile, the domains that are negatively affected in most of the studies are health, safety, quality of the physical environment, cost of living, accessibility to public facilities, and social relations. Apart from that, there is also dissatisfaction with the types of jobs available and the low level of community involvement in tourism development. CONCLUSIONS: Tourism can have both positive and negative impacts on the QoL of local communities. Efforts to minimize the negative impacts of tourism should be undertaken to improve community support for tourism development.

Tourism involves the movement of individuals from one region to another, which are sometimes of different cultures. The interaction between tourists and local communities in tourist destinations is social interaction. The community does not always react positively to the development of certain destinations or attractions. Public attitudes that are not always beneficial to tourism have various causes, such as the well-being differences that appear so starkly between wealthy tourists and poor local communities and  conflict over limited resources such as water, land and cultural resources. This condition needs to be addressed because frequent demonstrations at various tourist attractions in Bali may jeopardize the security and comfort of tourists and affect the image of Bali as an international tourist destination. This study aims to: 1) To evaluate local government policies in community empowerment; 2) To measure perceived community-based tourism implemented   in the destination areas 3) To measure thelife satisfaction of the people in tourist destinations; 3)To measure individual   attitude toward toursm develoment  in Destinations. The results of this study are expected to be useful as input in the formulation of regional tourism policies  to realize tourism development goals effectively. This study is different from previous tourism studies because it examines the impact of tourism development from an integral perspective of sustainable tourism and community-based tourism.   Keywords: community attitude, community-based tourism, community empowerment, community life satisfaction.

Tourism development brings both positive and negative social, economic and environmental impacts, and so does the development of rural tourism in Sembalun. Tourism is considered to have a great potential to improve people's welfare. The Sustainable Livelihood Framework is an instrument used to analyse the socio-economic impact of tourism development on the livelihood of local communities in Sembalun. This research is a replication of previous research in 2010 in Borobudur. This research compares the results of the impact analysis of heritage tourism in Borobudur with rural tourism in Sembalun on community livelihood based on the Sustainable Livelihood Framework instrument, not based on its different tourism attractions. In Sembalun the agricultural and tourism sectors support each other. The tourism sector has also proven to bring positive socio-economic impacts to local communities, such as promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products, increasing training and financial supports, job creation, cultural preservation, and pride and feeling of becoming part of the tourism development in their village. Tourism is also considered to have a positive impact in improving people's welfare. The most commonly complained negative impacts are waste as well as concerns that the local culture will be eroded by foreign culture brought by tourists.   Keywords:     tourism impact, sustainable livelihood framework, sustainable tourism, community based tourism, rural tourism

The results of this research have partially proven that tourism development in economic area has a positive impact which is proved by t-test where the  value of   t  count     >  t  table  (3,209  > 1,985).  Positive impact has shown in environmental as well where the value of   t count   > t table (2,449 > 1,985) This results means that both variables have a positive impact or H0 is rejected. While the negative relationship or H0 accepted is the impact of tourism development from social where the value of t count    < t table (0,314 < 1,985), it means that Tour de Flores event has no social impact on tourism development. Simultaneously, the   results of this research show   that   the   three independent variables; tourism development have a positive impact on economic, social and environmental. It is shown by F test that where value of F count > F table (86,723 > 2,699) so that H0 is rejected.
