Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the Middle East is gaining more importance than in the past. Although it still remains more about philanthropy and charity, it moves towards a more strategic approach which includes formalizing ways of giving, as a set of non-random actions, and focuses more on addressing social ills and environment, economic challenges, that are hindering development. However, the business in the region has not yet taken the step to fully integrate the CSR into their core business operations. The most common challenges that facing the CSR implementation are the lack of government requirements and incentives, spreading awareness, building CSR partnership model, going beyond the marketing and PR campaigns, and full integration of CSR into the business strategy. In this paper, we aim to introduce the current state of the CSR in the Middle East and its perspectives, besides reviewing its evaluation stages, motivations, and current challenges. Moreover, we aim to examine CSR common practices through examples from the financial sector. The research method applied in this research is based on secondary data sources and we have used desk research to illustrate most important points and findings on the topic.

Summary The concept of corporate social responsibility , functioning under the name of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), which is the responsibility of the business, is becoming more popular not only in academia, but also business. The purpose of this paper is to present the issues related to the implementation of selected elements of the concept of CSR (codes of ethics , norms and standards for quality management and dialogue with stakeholders) in the surveyed enterprises agribusiness. Research on business opinion on the concept of CSR has been carried out in the second half of 2013 and included 174 micro-enterprises (0-9 persons), small (10-49 employees ) and medium (50-249 employees) businesses agribusiness established in rural areas of Warmia and Mazury . The results showed that it is necessary first of all to think of entrepreneurs in terms of CSR and strategic approach to community engagement in the area where the company knows best. It is important to create their own solutions among companies understood as a business strategy , not just the actions taken occasionally.

Islamic organizations have the upmost responsibility to ensure that their business operations comply with Shariah principles. However, their approaches to positive actions through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have been varied because of inadequate guidance on the initiatives based on Islamic principles. Despite that CSR has been widely researched and is considered by most as a compulsory practice to be competitive, the current framework for CSR does not incorporate the Shariah principle to explain corporate involvement in social and environmental activities for Islamic organizations. Therefore, utilizing the Islamic CSR framework (i-CSR), this paper explores the current state of CSR initiatives and the motives for stakeholder engagement specifically from the environmental community dimension within Malaysian Islamic organizations. Semi-structured interviews with ten personnel from five Islamic organizations were conducted face to face at the field site. Data analyzed using NVivo software reveals that these organizations have embraced social responsibility beyond its business purpose. The CSR activities are in line with the Shariah principle and are influenced by multiple motivations. The results suggest the importance of an appropriate CSR framework and if adopted, it can be an important element of the overall governance and accountability framework of an Islamic organization.

Introduction. The issue of strategizing corporate management approach during the implementation of the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is considered in the article. The implementation of CSR concept in the enterprise’s overall strategy is one of the important areas of building mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholder groups. Purpose. The research aims to justify a comprehensive strategic approach to CSR on the basis of the construction of integrated corporate and business strategies with a focus on the CSR principles. Method (methodology). A complex of scientific methods such as method of theoretical generalization, comparison and systematic approach to the formation of interconnected strategies for different hierarchical levels of enterprise management with a focus on CSR principles have become the methodological basis of the study. Results. The necessity to overcome the isolation of socially responsible programs and initiatives and provide their close relationship with key business processes on a strategic basis through the introduction of CSR elements in strategic management has been proved. Stages of forming integrated corporate (business) strategy with a focus on CSR principles, which allow implementing a comprehensive strategic approach to CSR at all hierarchical levels of enterprise management, have been proposed. It has been emphasized that corporate and business strategy integrated with socially responsible objectives and principles form prerequisites for improving operational efficiency of the enterprise management systems.

A relatively new concept in the business world, corporate social responsibility (CSR) has resonated widely in the global economy. As well as integrating into the cultures of many organizations, CSR has become an important business strategy component of corporations worldwide. Many large companies in Jordan realize the importance of adopting social responsibility, especially companies that help build society as well as develop and increase productivity by providing distinct programs for small projects, as these contribute to solving problems of unemployment and poverty. This study explores the extent to which Zain Telecom in Jordan covers the three aspects of social responsibility in the same depth and level. The research methodology is qualitative analytical and is based on secondary data such as previous studies and the analysis of Zain’s annual report of social responsibility for 2018. The study concluded that the abovementioned company is significantly concerned with the social and employee aspects of CSR, but pays little attention to environmental aspects. The study made a number of recommendations, including focusing on all dimensions of social responsibility equally.

This study aims to determine whether the financial performance measured by using CAR, ROA, LDR, BOPO, and CSR can affect the value of banking companies as measured by using PBV. This study uses secondary data taken from the annual report of banking companies during the year 2012-2016 listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The number of samples of this study as many as 25 banking companies with a total of 125 data. This research method is quantitative research. The results of this study indicate the effect of CAR, ROA, LDR, BOPO, and CSR variables on firm value measured by using PBV in a banking company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Corporate social Responsibility has become a buzz word in recent times. Its worldwide acceptance due to the social consciousness of enterprises coupled with legal orientation in developing countries like India has made it one of the most researched issue for researchers across continents. This paper is an attempt to review the development in the core concepts and theories which have been put forwarded by different researchers during the time period of 2010-2018. The paper undergoes a time series analysis for the selected period evaluating the evolution and impact assessment of CSR on core managerial concepts like marketing, finance and Human Resource management. The researchers after time series analysis have concluded that CSR is age long practice which has changed its orientation with the changes in objectives of business. It can be easily classified in three conceptual eras on the basis of its objectives. In the initial era it was a self-driven practice mainly influenced by the values of promoters of business. In the later stages it can be related with a business strategy of gaining goodwill. In the present era corporates have understood the value of societal obligation and it has again become a self-driven exercise. Further the impact of CSR has coupled with almost all functions of management which can be easily understood from the host of studies conducted during the selected period. The selected studies indicate that CSR has been instrumental in increasing net worth, customer satisfaction and employee retention.
