The synergy that exists between geography, computer science and advances in information technologies has allowed the consolidation of geographic science from an integral perspective and allowing the correlation of basic elements for the analysis of the territory in an applied science called Geomatics. The research result in this field are linked to the collection and analysis of observation data, which are collected through satellites, ground stations, ocean buoys, the global positioning system (GPS), aerial sensors (photogrammetry), Weather balloons and traditional techniques for measuring and describing land. To process this data, Geographic Information System (GIS) has been developed, involving aspects of hardware and software with applications that are as diverse and varied as the users themselves. Also, presents an analysis of the main SIG's, its main features and applications , because despite having a scientific structure and IT support that allows one effective land management in rural or urban type, yet there is a wide area of opportunity solving and Previ or endo the emergence of conflicts interactions between human activities and geographical characteristics.

Prunus persica L. is one of the most important fruit crops in European production, after grapes, apples, oranges and watermelons. Most varieties are rich in secondary metabolites, showing antioxidant properties for human health. The purpose of this study was to develop a chemical analysis methodology, which involves the use of different analytical-instrumental techniques to deepen the knowledge related to the profile of metabolites present in selected cultivars of peaches and nectarines cultivated in the Mediterranean area (Southern Italy). The comparative study was conducted by choosing yellow-fleshed peaches (RomeStar, ZeeLady) and yellow-fleshed nectarines (Nectaross, Venus) from two geographical areas (Piana di Sibari and Piana di Metaponto), and by determining the chemical parameters for the flesh and skin that allow for identification of any distinctive varietal and/or geographical characteristics. A combined analytical and chemometric approach was used, trough rheological, thermogravimetric (TGA), chromatographic (HPLC-ESI-MS), spectroscopic (UV-Vis, ATR-FTIR, NMR) and spectrometric (ToF-SIMS) analysis. This approach allowed us to identify the characterizing parameters for the analysis of a plant matrix so that the developed methodology could define an easily exportable and extendable model for the characterization of other types of vegetable matrices.

<p>With the rapid pace of urbanization and drastic transformation of economic form, Wuhan, a central city of China is facing serious inland inundation problems in recent decades. This study intends to alleviate Wuhan’s storm water management problems in a sustainable way and give suggestions as to the improvement of residential area storm water management and lakeside wetland protection. Based on the data provided by Geographical Information System, analysis is done to the land form of the whole city and the change of its lake areas, which evidently demonstrates the influences of economic development on the natural environment of the city and reveals the causes of the inundation problems. Taking the population growth, land use and climate change into consideration, this research argues that strategies such as green roof fostering, neighbor-hood water reuse and wetland conservation can make a difference in stormwater drainage and prevention of inland inundation in Wuhan.</p>

Abstract The Republic of Macedonia covers an area of 25,713 km² and according to data from the census conducted in 2002, it has a population of 2,022,547 inhabitants. In the past, the Republic of Macedonia was characterized by some significant demographic changes, including a decline in the average annual rate of population increase. The enhanced immigration movements and sudden decline in the rates of natural population increase have led to changes in distribution of the population and to a spatial differentiation in the population. The long period of transition in the country has been reflected in the spatial development of the country and its demographic processes and to relocation of the population. The different natural-geographical characteristics, unequal regional development potentials, unequal economic development, and demographic characteristics have led to changes in the demographic situation of certain regions. The regions that continually lose part of its population clearly differ from these regions that are characterized by an increased population which is leading to a greater concentration of people in certain location. Further decades with a declining birth rate, followed by a change in the values of population increase, together with migration movements, particularly from the rural and less developed economic regions, has resulted in a decline in the population. The different zones of depopulation and concentration in a simple way express the complex relationships in the population composition.

Abstract. Large-scale hydrological modelling of flood hazard requires adequate extreme discharge data. Models based on physics are applied alongside those utilizing only statistical analysis. The former requires enormous computation power, while the latter are most limited in accuracy and spatial coverage. In this paper we introduce an alternate, statistical approach based on Bayesian Networks (BN), a graphical model for dependent random variables. We use a non-parametric BN to describe the joint distribution of extreme discharges in European rivers and variables describing the geographical characteristics of their catchments. Data on annual maxima of daily discharges from more than 1800 river gauge stations were collected, together with information on terrain, land use and climate of catchments that drain to those locations. The (conditional) correlations between the variables are modelled through copulas, with the dependency structure defined in the network. The results show that using this method, mean annual maxima and return periods of discharges could be estimated with an accuracy similar to existing studies using physical models for Europe, and better than a comparable global statistical method. Performance of the model varies slightly between regions of Europe, but is consistent between different time periods, and is not affected by a split-sample validation. The BN was applied to a large domain covering all sizes of rivers in the continent, both for present and future climate, showing large variation in influence of climate change on river discharges, as well as large differences between emission scenarios. The method could be used to provide quick estimates of extreme discharges at any location for the purpose of obtaining input information for hydraulic modelling.

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the key economic and geographical characteristics of the investment development of Belarus and how these characteristics could evolve in the future. The evaluation of the investment development of Belarus is based on comparative economic analysis, spatial analysis research methods and the cartographic method. Our results indicate a stable, predictable and enabling investment policy as the main determinant for attracting investment. This is confirmed by changes in the spatial distribution of foreign investment inflows in the real economy of Belarus by countries for 2010 and 2018. The characteristics of Belarusian investment development are identified because of the need to intensify innovative performance in the strategic dimensions of sustainable development. Particular attention is paid to the development of special economic zones with preferential regimes in the Republic of Belarus. This paper provides important new insights into the future prospects for Belarusian investment development on the basis of identified specifics.
