Writing from the United Kingdom, Freda Matassa prepared her textbook Museum Collections Management: A Handbook as a text for museum professionals and students in British classrooms, yet the clearly laid out information is equally relevant to a range of different types of cultural heritage institutions outside England. In the first part of her book, Matassa covers big-picture issues and defines the scope of collection management, before introducing day-to-day collection management activities in the second part of the text. Repatriation has become almost ubiquitous in ethnomusicological research on Australian Indigenous song. This article provides insights into processes of a repatriation-centered song revitalization project in the Kimberley, northwest Australia. Authored by an ethnomusicologist and two members of the Ngarinyin cultural heritage community, the article provides firsthand accounts of the early phases of a long-term repatriation-centered project referred to locally as the Junba Project. The authors provide a sample of narratives and dialogues that deliver insight into experiences of the work of identifying recordings “in the archive” and cultural negotiation and use of recordings “on Country.” The entanglement of local epistemological frameworks with past and present collection, archival research, repatriation, and dissemination for intergenerational knowledge transmission between spirits, Country, and the living, is explored, showing how recordings move song knowledge from community to archive to community and from generation to generation, and move people in present-day communities. The chapter considers how these “moving songs” allow an interrogation of the fraught endeavor of intercultural collaboration in the pursuit of revitalizing Indigenous song traditions. It positions repatriation as a method that can support intergenerational knowledge transmission and as a method to consider past and present intercultural relationships within research projects and between cultural heritage communities and collecting institutions.

The cultural heritage of the city of Wrocław provides a perfect opportunity to practice educational tourism. It can serve to shape the desirable attitudes of acceptance and tolerance based on closer cognition of diverse cultures. The aim of this chapter is to indicate the tourist potential inherent in the Jewish cultural heritage of Wrocław. The culturally complex history of the city is analyzed, and then the most essential elements of the cultural output of Wrocław are presented in order to better recognize the background of the Jewish heritage. The following step is to locate the presented assets within the operating tourist products fulfilling educational function assumed to be within the city's tourist strategy. The products arise the interest of receivers of any age: from kindergarten children to seniors. Also, in this chapter, the authors observe good practices of the Four Denominations District (depicting a close coexistence of the Jewish heritage and the Christian world – Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox) or the City Museum of Wrocław, with the Old Jewish Cemetery as its division. The pedagogical, training, and cultural educational functions fulfilled with the implementation of the cultural product are emphasized.

Travel has been advocated as a fortifying ground for experiential learning that can engage individuals in numerous experiences through the observation of the destination society and culture. In spite of the vast literature available about the link between tourism and experiential learning outcomes, there are limited studies that gauge educational tourists' familiarity with the intangible cultural heritage of their host communities. Particularly, this study focuses on local food, which is known as a marker of the destination culture and an intangible heritage that plays an inevitable role in almost any tourism experience. Correspondingly, the current exploratory study took an experiential learning approach to understand educational tourists' knowledge about local foods in Cyprus. The findings of the research revealed that educational tourists have very meager knowledge of local foods. The discussion is accordingly provided.

Collecting illness narratives has become an established way to explore illness experiences. Often both collecting and analysing illness narratives are based on taken for granted narrative norms about how a narrative should look in order to be counted as a narrative and as researchable. Autobiographical illness stories are for instance generally supposed to be coherent and true. Many persons, especially with neurocognitive disorders, have problems living up to and adhere to these narrative norms, thus telling stories that risk being considered as non-stories or as incoherent and fragmented stories. A number of examples of conflicts between narrative norms and illness stories will be discussed. In conclusion, it is argued that researchers must use data collecting methods as well as analytical strategies that allow for alternative ways of telling stories.

Today‚ audiovisual collections account for a large portion of the world’s memory. They are part of museums, serve as research documents for various types of scientific institution, register history and provide us with a tangible witness of our most precious memories. Even though sound and image collections are generally accepted as being part of our cultural heritage, determining how to open such collections to a large audience is far from simple. Although value and signi cance assessments are increasingly used as collection management tools, they are labour intensive and organizationally demanding activities for collection managers and institutions. Nevertheless such assessments are vital to ensure proper collection management today and in the future. Likewise they provide us with an excellent tool in communicating about audiovisual collections, prioritizing in case of digitization and rendering their management comprehensible. This paper outlines a three-step methodology designed to facilitate assessing value in audiovisual collections.
