<p>The transfer of the novel into a movie will lead to changes. That's because the process of making the novel and the film are very different. Different processes will produce somewhat different results. In the film without explaining to the audience what was happening, the audience itself has been understood through movement and images shown, while in the novel the reader to imagine exempted in accordance with what they think. To bridge the misunderstanding of society (lovers of literature) to the film adaptation of the literary work (novel), this research needs to be done. This is so that people can see the film as a film without overshadowed by his literary work (novel). This study aimed to: describe the novel Heaven Tak ekranisasi missed work to movie Asma Nadia Heaven Not missed by director Kuntz Agus.<br /> This study is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. Data of this study is novel Heaven episode story that Asma Nadia Tak missed work and the film Heaven Not missed by director Kuntz Agus. Data was collected through three stages, namely; The first step is to read the novel Heaven is not missed work Asma Nadia, followed by watching the movie Heaven Not missed by director Kuntz Agus. Phase Two is the inventory, to identify elements of the novel and the film Heaven is not missed. The third phase is the classification of data into the data format. The data validation techniques detailed description of the technique. Analyzing technique is done with the theory ekranisasi.</p>Based on the results of the study, concluded the following. First, a reduction in part ceritan novel Heaven Asma Nadia Tak missed work in the film Heaven is not missed by director Kuntz Agus. Secondly, there was an additional episode in the story in the film Heaven is not missed by director Kuntz Agus. Third, there is a change of variety of events, characters and background story episode in the film Heaven is not missed by director Kuntz Agus. Subtraction, addition and alteration variation on the novel and the film Heaven There may be missed characters, plot and setting. Such changes may result in changes of meaning and story standpoint.<br />

Critics have argued that Elizabeth Gaskell's first novel, Mary Barton (1848), is split by a conflict between the modes of realism and romance. But the conflict does not render the novel incoherent, because Gaskell surpasses both modes through a utopian narrative that breaks with the conflict of form and gives coherence to the whole novel. Gaskell not only depicts what Thomas Carlyle called the ‘Condition of England’ in her work but also develops, through three stages, the utopia that will redeem this condition. The first stage is romantic nostalgia, a backward glance at Eden from the countryside surrounding Manchester. The second stage occurs in Manchester, as Gaskell mixes romance with a realistic mode, tracing a utopian drive toward death. The third stage is the utopian break with romantic and realistic accounts of the Condition of England and with the inadequate preceding conceptions of utopia. This third stage transforms narrative modes and figures a new mode of production.

If, as Chapter 12 argues, much of Bonhoeffer’s resistance thinking remains stable even as he undertakes the novel conspiratorial resistance, what is new in his resistance thinking in the third phase? What receives new theological elaboration is the resistance activity of the individual, which in the first two phases was overshadowed by the resistance role played by the church. Indeed, as this chapter shows, Bonhoeffer’s conspiratorial activity is associated with what he calls free responsible action (type 6), and this is the action of the individual, not the church, in the exercise of vocation. As such, the conspiratorial activity is most closely related to the previously developed type 1 resistance, which includes individual vocational action in response to state injustice. But the conspiratorial activity differs from type 1 resistance as individual vocational action in the extreme situation.

This research aims to classify and describe the material culture elements contained in Okky Madasari’s novel Entrok. The research problem includes the classification of material culture elements which only exist in Indonesia, and most of them are related to Javanese culture. This research was a qualitative descriptive research. The data were in the form of words and phrases obtained from Okky Madasari’s Entrok. The result showed that there were six elements of material culture. The most commonly found material culture element was food, the second was house, the third was clothes, and the least found were vehicle, daily equipment, and art tool. The use of material culture elements in literary works, such as novel, not only improves the aesthetic value of the work, but also can be used as a media of education, so that the literary work enthusiasts can recognize better and are able to preserve the cultures in Indonesia.

Chapter 12 analyzes the third phase of the debate on expected utility theory, from the end of 1952 to 1955. The issues concerning the nature of utility measurement gained an autonomous status in this phase. Milton Friedman, Leonard J. Savage, Robert Strotz, Armen Alchian, and Daniel Ellsberg argued that measuring utility consists of assigning numbers to objects by following a definite set of operations. While the particular way of assigning utility numbers to objects is largely arbitrary and conventional, the assigned numbers should allow economists to predict individuals’ choice behavior. This is similar to the operational conception advanced by psychologist Stanley Smith Stevens and definitively liberates utility measurement from its remaining ties with units and ratios. The novel view of measurement quickly became standard among mainstream utility theorists, and its success helps explain the peaceful cohabitation of cardinal and ordinal utility within utility analysis that began in the mid-1950s.

In Tropic of Orange (1997), Karen Tei Yamashita builds an expansive narrative on the premise that the Tropic of Cancer shifts mysteriously from its actual latitude, barely north of Mazatlán, México, to that of L.A.’s latitude: from 23.43692° north of the Equator to 34.0522° N. By doing so, Yamashita literally takes that which is “south of the border” and repositions it in a hub of neoliberal hegemony; that is, she takes what is below (“sub-”) and puts it on top (“-vert”). I read such a literal and magically realistic move as an allegorical template that guides the novel in its entirety, but more specifically, in its repositioning of women from their spaces of relegation to spaces animated by their resistances to such relegation; from spaces of dependency to spaces characterized by feminine influence. This essay examines three strategies through which feminist subversions may be accomplished according to Yamashita’s textual template: The first follows Susan Fraiman’s theory of Extreme Domesticity (Fraiman 2017) as it tracks how subservient spaces of home and household can become sites of nonconformity; the second takes its cue from the cinematic strategies of “space-off” and “reversal” as examples of how marginal or negative spaces can be leveraged against the male gaze (c.f. José Rodríguez Herrera’s analysis of Sarah Polley’s film adaptation of Alice Munro’s “The Bear Came Over The Mountain,” Herrera 2013); and the third engages my own notion of a spatial virtuality (“that which is present without being local,” Munro 2014) as a mode of resistance that culminates, ultimately, in “a condition of literature,” that is to say, a condition in which Tropic of Orange refers to the conditions of its own making instead of referring to the conditions that create it (ibid.). My tripartite method thus highlights and celebrates the domestic, cinematic, and technological spaces of Yamashita’s writing, respectively, just as it articulates how these spaces might also be read as subversively feminist and feminizing. But it also meditates formally and contextually, as Tropic of Orange’s condition of literature implies, a sort of ablated feminist narratology, even as it works toward feminist narratological ends.

The study aims to elucidate plosiveness and friction in the “Raa”, (the tenth alphabet in Arabic) benefiting from what the ancient and modern scholars said on the issue. The core issue of the study is Sibawey’s classification of the “Raa” a tense phoneme in whose articulation the sound repeatedly flows leaning toward the articulation of “Lam” (23 Arabic alphabet) avoiding laxity. Had not the sound repeated, we wouldn’t have had the “Raa”. Tensity (plosiveness) and frication are two contradictory features which can never have the same place of articulation. The sound is articulated at stages, each of which has its own features. After analysis, it was found that the articulation of “Raa” passes through three stages. In the second, in the space between vocal cords and top of the tongue the “Raa” is fricative, while in the third, the closure stage between top of the tongue and hard palate, the “Raa” is plosive but this plosiveness is less in intensity than that of plosive phonemes. Therefore the “Raa” can be neither plosive, nor fricative, but in between “medial”.

Every literary work must have the social values ​​of life contained in it, whether conveyed implicitly or explicitly.  Like the novel Bila Malam Bertambah Malam by Putu Wijaya, it contains many social values ​​and so on.  With these problems, this research article is written to discuss "Analysis of Social Values ​​in the novel Bila Malam Bertambah Malam by Putu Wijaya using the mimetic approach”. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive research methods.  Data collection techniques carried out, in the form of documentation, as well as research instruments were the researchers themselves using a check list of the classification of research materials and notes of observations.  The data analysis technique in this study is a descriptive interpretive technique, where the researcher tries to describe the opinions and views that are on an object of research.  This article aims to find out the social values ​​contained in the novel Bila Malam Bertambah Malam by Putu Wijaya.  The results of this study indicate that social problems cannot be separated from the relationships that accompany them.  These relationships include human problems with humans, human problems with oneself and human problems with culture.

This article raises the problem of transposition (transposition) of the literary text of the verbal code into the language of cinema, which is relevant in modern linguistics. Within the framework of the presented research, the main stages of the development of cinematography, as well as the main techniques and types of editing, are described. The aim of the study is to analyze the historical stage in the development of a new type of art (cinema), its impact on society, as well as to analyze the relevance of such a phenomenon as the adaptation of a literary work of art. The relevance of addressing this topic is due to the development of modern filmmaking, the number of film adaptations that have come out in recent years. The article describes the views on cinema and film adaptation by Umberto Eco and David Lynch, suggesting that the film adaptation of literary works is a new type of artistic creation that was born in the 20th century and requires more careful research. The article presents an analysis of the novel by L.N. Tolstoy «Anna Karenina», as well as the main world adaptations of the novel. The analysis is carried out in order to identify the main cultural similarities and differences. The paper presents analyzes of such methods of translating meanings as color and cut-off.

ahat ilī – Sister of Gods by Olga Tokarczuk and Aleksander Nowak: From the Novel to the Opera Libretto In 2018, the third opera composition by Aleksander Nowak (*1979), ahat ilī – Sister of Gods had its premiere., The libretto was created by Polish Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk, on the basis of her own novel. This kind of combination of literature and opera, reinforced by the unique situation in which the author of the text-inspiration and the libretto is the same person, suggests that the work should be defined as a literary opera. The aim of the article is to present the composition in terms of its genres as well as to show the unique path of its content from literary work to operatic, together with the analysis of the libretto from the librettological perspective.

Novel 728 Hari Ibu Jembatanmu Menuju Surga by Djono W.Oesman was chosen as research data for several reasons. First, because this novel is a best seller. Second, this novel tells the true story of a person. Third, this novel has many useful references to morality. The analysis of this resersch uses structural theory and moral value theory as formulated by Burhan Nurgiyantoro’s. Structural theory discusses the object of research in the intrinsic elements that build and literary work, among others, characterization, plot, and setting. Moral value theory is uused analyze the morality contained in the novel. The method used in this research is the library research method with reading, listening, and note taking techniques. Then, the data were analyzed using the analytical descriptive method. The results of this study consist of two parts. First, the structure of the novel 728 Hari:IJMS, the characters in the novel are the main character, Eva Meliana Santi, and additional characters, namely Sugiarti, Badarudin, Ryantori Ahmad, and Winantyo Adi Tamtomo (Nanan). The flow used consisnts of three stages, namely the initial stages, the middle stages, and the final stages. The setting of this novel is divided into three, namely place setting, time setting, and social setting. Second, the morality contained in the novel 728 Hari:IJMS and the moral of the main character in dealing with life’s problems.
