This study is to review the political issues that arise in Central Java and analyze several issues based on framing analysis and the media agenda. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data are analyzed from five journalists, that are Solo Pos, Tribun Jawa Tengah, and Kedaulatan Rakyat in interviews session. The results of this study mention the issues that arise, include the issue of identity politics, the issue of the president profile 2019, the policy issue of three magic cards and single card, the tagline of #2019GantiPresiden, the issue of total war, the issue of moving the Prabowo-Sandi winning headquarters to Java Middle, people power and coup issue. These issues are detailed by framing and also the media setting agenda to be taken into consideration the news material. The contribution in this research is to review the detailed management of issues that have arisen around the 2019 presidential election.

2019 is one of the years which is considered quite a sense for the people of Indonesia, this year the presidential and vice presidential elections reunite Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto as presidential candidates. During the 2019 presidential election campaign, the issue of identity politics strengthened in the community. Political actors often use an identity to attract the attention and support of potential voters. The media which are supposed to be independent are actually trapped in the issue of identity politics. Reporting on online media is often influenced by the ideology and interests of media that are reflected in the framing of the news carried out by that media. This Study aims to describe the framing carried out by medcom.id in reporting the 2019 presidential election campaign. This study uses a qualitative approach with framing analysis from Robert N. Entman. The results of this study indicate that medcom.id is proven to be framing using identity politics in reporting the 2019 presidential election campaign. Identity politics framing conducted by medcom.id is news containing SARA (Ethnicity, Religion, Ancestry, and Group of People)Tahun 2019 merupakan salah satu tahun politik yang dinilai cukup panas bagi masyarakat Indonesia, pada tahun ini pemilihan presiden dan wakil presiden kembali mempertemukan Joko Widodo dan Prabowo Subianto sebagai calon presiden. Pada kampanye Pilpres 2019 kemarin, isu politik identitas menguat di masyarakat. Para aktor politik sering kali menggunakan sebuah identitas untuk menarik perhatian serta dukungan calon pemilihnya di masyarakat. Media yang seharusnya independen justru terjebak dalam isu politik identitas tersebut. Pemberitaan pada media online seringkali dipengaruhi oleh ideologi dan kepentingan pemilik media yang tergambar pada pembingkaian berita yang dilakukan oleh media tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pembingkaian yang dilakukan oleh portal berita media online medcom.id dalam memberitakan kampanye pemilihan presiden 2019. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis framing Robert N. Entman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa medcom.id terbukti melakukan pembingkaian dengan menggunakan politik identitas dalam pemberitaan kampanye Pilpres 2019. Pembingkaian politik identitas yang dilakukan oleh medcom.id adalah pemberitaan yang mengandung SARA (suku, agama, ras dan antar golongan).

AbstractPresidential Election in 2019 has become the most interesting executive election throughout Indonesia's political history. People likely separated, either Jokowi’s or Prabowo’s stronghold. Then it can be assumed, when someone, not a Jokowi’s stronghold he or she certainly within Prabowo’s stronghold. The issue that was brought up in the presidential election campaign, sensitively related to religion, communist ideology, China’s employer, and any other issues. On the other side, politics identity also enlivened the presidential election’s campaign in 2019. Normative Yuridis method used in this research, which was supported by primary and secondary data sourced from either literature and social phenomenon sources as well. The research analysis concluded that political identity has become a part of the political campaign in Indonesia as well as in other countries. The differences came as the inevitability that should not be avoided but should be faced wisely. Finally, it must be distinguished between political identity with the politicization of identity clearly.Keywords. Identity Politics, 2019 Presidential Election

There has been considerable debate in recent years about the effects of the teaching of Politics upon levels of ‘political literacy’ – the knowledge and understanding of the political process and political issues which enables people to perform their roles as citizens effectively. Almost everyone receives some form of political education. For most people, however, the process of political education is informal: political knowledge, as well as opinions and attitudes, is picked up from the family, friends and the media. Informal political education also takes place in schools. In primary schools, children acquire elementary information about the political system, parties, leaders and so on. In secondary schools, subjects such as History and Geography and courses in General Studies frequently involve topics that are relevant to politics.

The presidential election is one of the political events that occur in Indonesia once in five years. Public satisfaction and dissatisfaction with political issues have led to an increase in the number of political opinion tweets. The purpose of this study is to examine the performance of the k-means and k-medoids method in the Twitter data and to tweet about the presidential election in 2019. The data used in this study are primary data taken from Muhyi's research, then mining the text against data obtained. Because this data has been processed by Muhyi to analyze the electability of the 2019 presidential candidate pairs, for this journal needs a preprocessing was carried out to analyze the tendency of tweets to side with the candidate pairs of one or two. The difference in the pre-processing of this research with previous research is that there is a cleaning of duplicate data and normalizing. The results of this study indicate that the optimal number of clusters resulting from the k-means method and the k-medoid method are different.

The article describes the American presidential election in the two largest American and Danish newspapers: USA Today, New York Times, Jyllands-Posten and Politiken. Two weeks of news about the election have been analysed and showed that around 60 to 70 percent of all stories focused on the political processes contrary to the political substance. At the same time the analysis show that in broad terms the Danish and American newspapers coverage are quite similar. On the basis of theories of democracy the article makes a critique of the media coverage and give possible explanations of, why the focus is more on the political game than on the political substance.

The role of online mass media in this period became very important in disseminating information to the public. Online media such as news.detik.com and jateng.tribunnews.com have become one of the media that has reported a lot about village funds. However, the two online masses have their styles in constructing village fund news in Central Java, especially concerning several corruption cases that involve village officials. This study aims to analyze the construction of village officials behavior through the framing of the web portal 1 and web portal 2 in the corruption case of village funds in Central Java, Indonesia. This research is a qualitative type with a descriptive approach. The data collection method used documentation study from the web portal 1 and web portal 2. The research partisipants were the news content of web portal 1 and web portal 2 for the period 2019. The analysis used was the framing analysis model of Zhong Dang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. The finding of this research is that the news from web portal 1 highlights the "how" and "why" aspects. Web portal 2 has more news about live news and is oriented in advance and actuality based on quick publication than web portal 1. Conclusion: web portal 1 in explaining the corruption of village funds deeper than web portal 2. This news has influenced the behavior patterns of village officials in carrying out village government duties.

In 2010, Viktor Ianukovych, a candidate whose democratic credentials were disputed and whose shady background hardly inspired feelings of admiration or trust, was elected president of Ukraine. By asking the voters themselves on the eve of the election how such an individual could have won their votes, this article shows that when Ukrainians went to vote in 2010, they evaluated the qualities and the policy-issues associated with Ianukovych higher than those ascribed to his opponent, Iuliia Tymoshenko, even if only slightly so. In a Ukraine that since the Orange Revolution in 2004 has come increasingly to embrace democracy, the 2010 presidential elections marked a certain democracy fatigue that in the end came to favour Ianukovych’s “strong hand” image. Regional belonging is a usual factor in Ukrainian voting, and it played a role in the political assessments of the 2010 presidential election. However, issues of identity and language were among the lowest ranked in both eastern and western Ukraine, far behind the heated topics of jobs, unemployment, and welfare services. Later, identity-politics became more accentuated in the aftermath of the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 and the ensuing war between Ukraine and Russia. In 2010, what united many voters regardless of region was a stronger concern for jobs and welfare services than for democratic commitment in the candidates, or for identity politics. Those more personal issues paved the way for Ianukovych to become the president of Ukraine.


Significance The requests are based on plea bargains from former executives of construction company Odebrecht. While the names in ‘Janot’s list’ have not been disclosed, several of them have leaked to the media. They include six ministers in the government of President Michel Temer, two former presidents, ten state governors, and the heads of both houses of Congress. If confirmed, this would make the list a potent bombshell for the Brazilian political class. Impacts The corruption scandal looks set to disrupt next year’s presidential election. Politicians’ disdain for accountability will fuel outrage with the political class. The ground could be fertile for a candidate claiming to be an ‘outsider’.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the political activities of Donald Trump as the president of the United States of America. The key political issues of the United States interaction with countries such as the China, North Korea, Russia, India and Syria. Each of the issues discussed contributes to the creation of a full-fledged image of Trump as a politician who is a tough, unprincipled leader who takes constant risks in order to achieve certain goals. Despite the number of Trump’s opponents and ill-wishers, his decisions mostly bring dividends and open up new opportunities for his country. Many experts argue that it will be difficult for Trump to maintain a leading position in the upcoming presidential election since the current president currently has rather weak approval ratings.

The way the media processes, frames, and passes on information either to the government or to the people affects the function of the political system. This chapter discusses the interaction between new media and ethnicity in Kenya, Africa. The chapter investigates ways in which the new media reinforced issues relating to ethnicity prior to Kenya’s 2007 presidential election. In demonstrating the nexus between new media and ethnicity, the chapter argues that the upsurge of ethnic animosity was chiefly instigated by new media’s influence. Prior to the election, politicians had mobilized their supporters along ethnic lines, and created a tinderbox situation. Thus, there is need for the new media in Kenya to help the citizens to redefine the status of ethnic relationships through the recognition of ethnic differences and the re-discovery of equitable ways to accommodate them; after all, there is more strength than weaknesses in these differences.
