As all branches of the medicine, the obstetrical and gynecological clinical approach has been greatly affected by the pandemic. In our study, we aimed to reveal the effect of the pandemic on current obstetrics and gynecologic clinical approach and urgency/semi-urgency evaluations of physicians related with both obstetrical and gynecological cases. The obstetricians in Turkey from different hospitals and clinics have completed our online questionnaire-based survey using ‘docs.google.com’. The survey questionnaire was created in three sections: Demographic, occupational analysis and thoughts about outbreak, clinical approach scale and clinical urgency scale. SPSS 22 program was used to analyze the validity and reliability of the scales. The outbreak has affected the clinical approach according to our study. The effect degree was 3.79, 3.15, 3.72 respectively at clinical effect, clinical functioning and struggle and prevention. The specialists regardless of the year in the occupation were more affected than research assistants in terms of clinical effect (p=0.017) and also postponed obstetrical (p=0.000) and gynecological (p=0.000) conditions more frequently. As the effect of the pandemic on clinical functioning increases, the delay of gynecological cases increases. With the postponement of obstetrics cases, the probability of delaying gynecological cases increases. In the current study, it was concluded that the pandemic has affected the clinical approach in obstetrics and gynecology clinics. We think that the study will help in determining our approach to obstetrical and gynecological cases in the future. Scenarios should be made patient-centered without neglecting the burden and possible damages on healthcare professionals.

Background: A comprehensive response to the unprecedented SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) chal-lenges for public health and its impact on radiation oncology patients and personnel for resilience and adaptability is presented. Methods: The general recommendations included working remote-ly when feasible, implementation of screening/safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines, social distancing, regular cleaning of treatment environment, and testing for high-risk patients/procedures. All teaching conferences, tumor boards, and weekly chart rounds were con-ducted using a virtual platform. Additionally, specific recommendations were given to each sec-tion to ensure proper patient treatments. The impact of these measures, especially adaptability and resilience, were evaluated through specific questionnaire surveys. Results: These comprehen-sive COVID-19 related measures resulted in most staff expressing a consistent level of satisfaction in regards to personal safety, maintaining a safe work environment, continuing quality patient care and continuing educational activities during the pandemic. There was a significant reduction in patient treatments and on-site patient visits with an appeciable increase in the number of tele-medicine e-visits. Conclusions: Survey results demonstrated substantial adaptability and resili-ence, including in the rapid recovery of departmental activities during the reactivation phase. In the event of a future public health emergency, the measures implemented may be adopted with good outcomes by radiation oncology departments across the globe.

Background: Disparities in health care among lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) communities have been researched in primary care, but few have examined these phenomena among LGBT inpatients. Methods: Descriptive correlational study. A questionnaire was emailed to an LGBT population for a total of 508 participants. Questionnaires addressed level of satisfaction with hospital employees and whether this was related to their sexual orientation or gender identity (SOGI). Descriptive statistics describe participants and hospitals. χ2 was used to examine satisfaction and belief based on SOGI, recommendation to LGBT friends, and the relationship between location and likelihood of recommendation. Results: Those reporting dissatisfaction were likely to indicate it was related to their SOGI. They were less likely to recommend the hospital to LGBT friends or family. Analysis between location and recommendation identified rural hospitals as less likely to be recommended. Discussion: Lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender patients perceived lack of courtesy by hospital employees to be related to their SOGI.

A public health emergency, as the COVID-19 pandemic, may lead to shortages of potentially life-saving treatments. In this situation, it is necessary, justifiable and proportionate to have decision tools in place to enable healthcare professionals to triage and prioritise access to those resources. An ethically sound framework should consider the principles of beneficence and fair allocation. Scientific Societies across Europe were concerned with this problem early in the pandemic and published guidelines to support their professionals and institutions. This article aims to compare triage policies from medical bodies across Europe, to characterise the process of triage and the ethical values, principles and theories that were proposed in different countries during the first outbreak of COVID-19.
