This study aimed at investigating (1) types of ICT tools implemented in teaching and learning process (2) English teacher’ planning of the use of ICT tools in lesson planning (3) procedures implemented in teaching English using the ICT tools (4) the problems faced by English teachers who used ICT tools in teaching and learning process at SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura when using ICT tools in teaching and learning process. This study was descriptive qualitative research involving three English teachers of SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura. The instruments used for data collection were researcher, questionnaire, interview guide, teachers’ lesson plan, observation sheet, and recorder. The methods of data collection were survey, interview, lesson plan analysis, observation, and recording. The result of the study showed that English teachers of SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura had already implemented ICT tools in teaching and learning process. Types of ICT tools used were laptop, LCD projector, speaker, video, Power Point, internet, and e-learning namely Quipper School. Before implementing those types of ICT tools, teachers planned ICT tools in the lesson planning. The use of ICT tools were planned explicitely in teaching media and tools as well as learning resources, while implicitely in steps of teaching and learning activity. In implementing ICT tools, the teachers had their own procedures which depended on types of ICT tools used and topic taught. Teachers encountered four main problems namely infrastructural problems, technical problems, problem of time, and lack of teachers’ competence in using ICT tools.

The sophistication of technology and access to information in the twenty-first century pushed education providers to transform preparing students to face a more challenging future. Effective and relevant teaching and learning strategies are needed in biology learning to meet the needs of future generations. Therefore, this study aims to observe the biology learning process in one of senior high school. A qualitative research approach with an observation method was used in this study. This research was conducted in class X SMA N 1 Tanjung, Brebes, Central Java. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation check list, questionnaires, and interviews. Observation of the biology learning process carried out focused on the lesson plan document, learning process, and interviews as well as student and teacher questionnaires on the biology learning process. The data collection process was carried out 3 times. The results obtained from this study indicate that teachers already know the demands of the curriculum and the needs of the 21st century. This can be seen from the of lesson plans made by the teacher. However, other findings from this study are, the skills of teachers in implementing the lesson plan with discovery learning methods are still not optimal. Learning activities undertaken have not yet led to the provision of student skills needed in 21st century. This research is expected to be used as a reference for improving the process of learning biology

The purpose of this study is to know the teaching and learning activity in implementing the 2013 curriculum. This research is based on a preliminary study of the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in some junior high schools around Pekanbaru by observing and interviewing English teachers. This research is qualitative. Researcher use observation sheet and interview to know the learning activities in SMP Negeri 23 Pekanbaru. Based on the research findings, first, the stage of teaching and learning process in the classroom, the teacher has not been able to carry out the ideal teaching step; second, professionally, the curriculum implementer has not received training from the government to support the teaching and learning process in the classroom and the last available resources and media Not yet supported. By doing this research, researchers hope that the government does the right training for all English teachers in applying the 2013 curriculum.

The development of 21st century affects all sectors including the education field. The importance for preparing students with knowledge and skills affects the learning process in this era. Life skills and balanced assessment are the demands in 21st century era. These demands need to be prepared by the teachers since primary education. Therefore, it is important to analyze primary English teachers’ readiness in inserting 21st century skills in terms of lesson planning, teaching and learning process and assessing students’ learning as the important aspect on learning process. This study used embedded mixed method using qualitative description and supported with descriptive quantitative analysis. The subjects of the research were 11 primary English teachers in Denpasar. A questionnaire was used to measure the readiness of the teachers in inserting the skills in the aspects of learning process. The data obtained were calculated and classified into its level of teachers’ readiness. It was found that the teachers perceived themselves as ready in inserting the 21st century skills. This is indicated by 1) their positive responses toward the knowledge about the 21st century skills, 2) they were confident in perceiving their implementation toward 21st century skills, and 3) they were ready in inserting 21st century skills in terms of lesson planning, teaching and learning process and assessing their students’ learning activities. It is expected that the teachers sustain their readiness in inserting the 21st century skills in teaching English for their students at schools.

Writing is undoubtedly an essential productive skill for every student in the modern era. Thus, this study investigates how students utilize the popular application of Google Maps in writing recount text and finds out their responses toward the learning activity. This research used descriptive qualitative research since it was conducted during the learning process of English subject at one high school in Karawang, Indonesia. Data sources were obtained through data triangulation consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. This research included three phases related to checking knowledge, introducing and utilizing Google Maps in writing experiences, and finally giving assignments to students regarding their trip experience in a particular location. Based on the results of the observation, the process of teaching and learning using online Google Maps application in ELT context can enhance students’ writing as well as promote their engagement. Data from interviews shows positive responses from students in learning English through the implementation of the Google Maps application to develop their writing skills. As for the documentation, learning outcome of writing recount text stated in the lesson plan was successfully achieved through the carefully planned activities using Google Maps, and this could be seen from the students’ works. Research also reveals students are more motivated in an interactive and more fun learning process due to realistic and appealing object visualization, and not to mention its mobile practicality feature.

Pre-Service English Teachers (PSTs) of Tarbiyah Fakulty of IAIN Syaikh Abdurrahman Siddik Bangka Belitung do their teaching practicum at high schools. Their supervising teachers play important role in evaluating, couching and mentoring them. In order to develop PSTs motivation and confidence during teaching and learning process, this study was conducted. Some supervising teachers from some high schools in Bangka regency and Pangkalpinang were interviewed. And the findings showed that PSTs should learn more about lesson planning, classroom management, and speaking skills. The result of the interviewed also gave a brief explanation about some subjects and courses that must be equipped by PSTs before they have their teaching practicum at schools.

This study aims to explore the implementation of character education values based on the five main values of strengthening character education. The method employed in this study was descriptive qualitative. The sample consisted of two English teachers in SMAN 4 Mukomuko. The researcher used 5 main values of character education as the research limitation in conducting this study.  The technique of data collection were observation, interview, and documentation. The result of this study shows that teachers in SMAN 4 Mukomuko have implemented the 5 main values in strengthening character education, such as religion, nationalism, integrity, independence, and mutual cooperation value. The teachers show and teach the value of character education in the school well. They have been carried out quite well in the teaching and learning process.  Although there were obstacles faced by teachers at SMAN 4 Mukomuko, the school were also constantly looking for solution to overcome the problems by strengthening teachers cooperation and building good relationship between parents of student and SMAN 4 Mukomuko.

The study aims at describing teachers’ activities based on the aspects of preparation, implementation, and evaluation of learning in Mathematics learning process which affected on students’ character building at SMPN 5 Mandai. The type of this study was descriptive research with qualitative approach. The research subjects were 2 Mathematics teachers at SMPN 5 Mandai who applied 2013 curriculum and teachers who applied character education in learning process. Data collecting method of the study were interview, observation, and documentation. The study employed triangulation method by comparing the data obtained through documentation with observation, and observation with interview. The results of the study reveal that (1) teachers’ activities based on the aspects of preparation in Mathematics learning process which affected on the students’ character building can be seen from syllabus arrangement and lesson plan of teachers, (2) teachers’ activities based on the implementation aspect in Mathematics learning process which affected on students’ character building are the teachers applied character education started from opening activity, main activity, and closing activity, (3) teachers’ activities based on the evaluation aspect in Mathematics learning process which affected on students’ character building are through competence of students’ attitude aspect, knowledge aspect such as giving daily examination, and skills. Students’ development can be acknowledged by teachers and parents as well as by students’ themselves. The evaluation of Mathematics learning with character at SMPN 5 Mandai in Maros discrit has been conducted integrated with teaching and learning activity

<p>The aim of the research was to investigate English teachers’ understanding and its practices in teaching HOTS. This research was conducted from October to November 2019 involved 20 English teachers from state and private school in Majenang and its surroundings. Data about teachers’ understanding was obtained by interviewing the teachers. Meanwhile, the data about its practices was obtained from observation and supervision document from the school principal and supervisor. The result showed that most of English teachers that participated in this research was not clear enough about HOTS and its implementation in teaching and learning process. There were also misunderstanding about designing lesson plan which covered the implementation of teaching HOTS in the classroom. The conclusion indicated that most of older teachers were not clear enough about HOTS and its practices as they are lack of training and information about it. In contrast, most younger participated teachers understood about HOST but they have misconception related to its practices.</p>

This research was conducted to analyze the differences between certified and non-certified English teachers in the teaching and learning process. The researcher formulated the objective of the research was to find out the differences between certified and non-certified English teachers in the teaching and learning process. Based on the objective of the research above, so the researcher came to analize the differences between certified and non-certified English teachers, they were one of certified English teacher in SMP Neg. 1 Kolaka and one of non-certified English teacher in SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka. The design of the research, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative analysis. In conducting the research, the researcher used two kinds of data collection, they were interview and observation. In analysis of the data, the researcher used techniques of data analysis by Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data display and verifying and conclusion. In representing the analysis, the researcher mentioned the findings of certified and non-certified English teachers in the teaching and learning process. Furthermore, through out, the analysis, the researcher explained that certified and non-certified English teachers had some differences in the teaching and learning process. They showed differences in some indicators, they were material mastery, systematic presentation, methods application, using media, performance and motivation. Based on the finding and analysis, the researcher made conclusion that certified English teacher didn’t have all indicators in his teaching and learning process. Conversely, non-certified English teacher had all indicators in his teaching and learning process. In other words, non-certified English teacher had good quality than certified English teacher.

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilakukan karena proses pembelajaran di laboratorium Biologi IAIN STS Jambi yang masih minim sarana prasarana yang ada di laboratorium, sehingga menghambat proses pembelajaran khususnya untuk mata kuliah Morfologi Tumbuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan buku ajar praktikum dan mengetahui praktikalitasnya. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan menggunakan 4-D Models yang terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu Define, Design, Develop dan Disseminate. Karena adanya keterbatasan waktu dan biaya maka tahap disseminate tidak dilakukan. Produk yang dikembangkan berupa buku ajar praktikum yang divalidasi oleh validator. Produk yang telah divalidasi dan dinyatakan valid oleh validator, kemudian diujicobakan pada proses pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk melihat nilai praktis buku ajar praktikum di laboratorium Biologi. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah data deskriptif untuk memvalidasi perangkat pembelajaran oleh pakar pendidikan. Selain itu juga diteliti data praktikalitas penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran ini yang diperoleh dari observasi dosen dan respon siswa. Nilai validitas produk 83,31% yang dikategorikan valid. Sementara nilai kepraktisan berdasarkan data observasi keterlaksanaan SAP, angket respon dosen dan siswa dikategorikan sangat baik atau sangat praktis. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran di Laboratorium Biologi yang dikembangkan adalah valid dan sangat praktis digunakan baik dosen maupun siswa. Kata Kunci : Pengembangan, buku ajar praktikum, laboratorium biologi Abstract [The development of a course book for plant morphology at biology laboratory] This research was triggered by the limited facilities of the biology laboratory at the State Institute of Islamic Studies Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi which became a constrain in the teaching and learning process of Plant Morphology classroom sessions. The objective of this research was to develop a course book as well as to reveal its practicality. The researcher did a research and development using 4-D Models consisting of four stages namely; define, design, develop, and disseminate. Considering the limitation of time and finance, the disseminate stage was not executed. The test revealed the validity score of the product was 83,31% which categorized as good. For its practicality, the product was considered as very good based on observation of lesson plan execution and lecturers’ and students’ response. In summary, the course book developed for the course at Biology Laboratory was categorized as valid and practical to be used by both students and lecturers.
