Writing is undoubtedly an essential productive skill for every student in the modern era. Thus, this study investigates how students utilize the popular application of Google Maps in writing recount text and finds out their responses toward the learning activity. This research used descriptive qualitative research since it was conducted during the learning process of English subject at one high school in Karawang, Indonesia. Data sources were obtained through data triangulation consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. This research included three phases related to checking knowledge, introducing and utilizing Google Maps in writing experiences, and finally giving assignments to students regarding their trip experience in a particular location. Based on the results of the observation, the process of teaching and learning using online Google Maps application in ELT context can enhance students’ writing as well as promote their engagement. Data from interviews shows positive responses from students in learning English through the implementation of the Google Maps application to develop their writing skills. As for the documentation, learning outcome of writing recount text stated in the lesson plan was successfully achieved through the carefully planned activities using Google Maps, and this could be seen from the students’ works. Research also reveals students are more motivated in an interactive and more fun learning process due to realistic and appealing object visualization, and not to mention its mobile practicality feature.

This study aimed at investigating (1) types of ICT tools implemented in teaching and learning process (2) English teacher’ planning of the use of ICT tools in lesson planning (3) procedures implemented in teaching English using the ICT tools (4) the problems faced by English teachers who used ICT tools in teaching and learning process at SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura when using ICT tools in teaching and learning process. This study was descriptive qualitative research involving three English teachers of SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura. The instruments used for data collection were researcher, questionnaire, interview guide, teachers’ lesson plan, observation sheet, and recorder. The methods of data collection were survey, interview, lesson plan analysis, observation, and recording. The result of the study showed that English teachers of SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura had already implemented ICT tools in teaching and learning process. Types of ICT tools used were laptop, LCD projector, speaker, video, Power Point, internet, and e-learning namely Quipper School. Before implementing those types of ICT tools, teachers planned ICT tools in the lesson planning. The use of ICT tools were planned explicitely in teaching media and tools as well as learning resources, while implicitely in steps of teaching and learning activity. In implementing ICT tools, the teachers had their own procedures which depended on types of ICT tools used and topic taught. Teachers encountered four main problems namely infrastructural problems, technical problems, problem of time, and lack of teachers’ competence in using ICT tools.

The study aims at describing teachers’ activities based on the aspects of preparation, implementation, and evaluation of learning in Mathematics learning process which affected on students’ character building at SMPN 5 Mandai. The type of this study was descriptive research with qualitative approach. The research subjects were 2 Mathematics teachers at SMPN 5 Mandai who applied 2013 curriculum and teachers who applied character education in learning process. Data collecting method of the study were interview, observation, and documentation. The study employed triangulation method by comparing the data obtained through documentation with observation, and observation with interview. The results of the study reveal that (1) teachers’ activities based on the aspects of preparation in Mathematics learning process which affected on the students’ character building can be seen from syllabus arrangement and lesson plan of teachers, (2) teachers’ activities based on the implementation aspect in Mathematics learning process which affected on students’ character building are the teachers applied character education started from opening activity, main activity, and closing activity, (3) teachers’ activities based on the evaluation aspect in Mathematics learning process which affected on students’ character building are through competence of students’ attitude aspect, knowledge aspect such as giving daily examination, and skills. Students’ development can be acknowledged by teachers and parents as well as by students’ themselves. The evaluation of Mathematics learning with character at SMPN 5 Mandai in Maros discrit has been conducted integrated with teaching and learning activity

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilakukan karena proses pembelajaran di laboratorium Biologi IAIN STS Jambi yang masih minim sarana prasarana yang ada di laboratorium, sehingga menghambat proses pembelajaran khususnya untuk mata kuliah Morfologi Tumbuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan buku ajar praktikum dan mengetahui praktikalitasnya. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan menggunakan 4-D Models yang terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu Define, Design, Develop dan Disseminate. Karena adanya keterbatasan waktu dan biaya maka tahap disseminate tidak dilakukan. Produk yang dikembangkan berupa buku ajar praktikum yang divalidasi oleh validator. Produk yang telah divalidasi dan dinyatakan valid oleh validator, kemudian diujicobakan pada proses pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk melihat nilai praktis buku ajar praktikum di laboratorium Biologi. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah data deskriptif untuk memvalidasi perangkat pembelajaran oleh pakar pendidikan. Selain itu juga diteliti data praktikalitas penggunaan perangkat pembelajaran ini yang diperoleh dari observasi dosen dan respon siswa. Nilai validitas produk 83,31% yang dikategorikan valid. Sementara nilai kepraktisan berdasarkan data observasi keterlaksanaan SAP, angket respon dosen dan siswa dikategorikan sangat baik atau sangat praktis. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran di Laboratorium Biologi yang dikembangkan adalah valid dan sangat praktis digunakan baik dosen maupun siswa. Kata Kunci : Pengembangan, buku ajar praktikum, laboratorium biologi Abstract [The development of a course book for plant morphology at biology laboratory] This research was triggered by the limited facilities of the biology laboratory at the State Institute of Islamic Studies Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi which became a constrain in the teaching and learning process of Plant Morphology classroom sessions. The objective of this research was to develop a course book as well as to reveal its practicality. The researcher did a research and development using 4-D Models consisting of four stages namely; define, design, develop, and disseminate. Considering the limitation of time and finance, the disseminate stage was not executed. The test revealed the validity score of the product was 83,31% which categorized as good. For its practicality, the product was considered as very good based on observation of lesson plan execution and lecturers’ and students’ response. In summary, the course book developed for the course at Biology Laboratory was categorized as valid and practical to be used by both students and lecturers. Abstract. This journal discusses the development of variations in teaching in increasing learning motivation. The learning process is an activity that involves an individual (physical and spiritual), learning activities are never carried out without a strong motivation or motivation from within the individual or from outside the individual who participates in learning activities. Therefore, the learning process requires the development and use of variations in teaching to generate student motivation. Variations in teaching include variations in teaching styles, variations in media and materials, and variations in teaching and learning interactions. Motivation has a very important role in learning activities, there is no learning activity without motivation, therefore motivation has a strategic role in achieving the goals or results of learning. It influenced the internalization of Islamic Educationvalues to students. According to the above background, contextual approach was assumed to create amore meaningful and effective teaching and learning process. The study revealed that most teachersdeveloped instructional material merely based on Teacher Association for Islamic EducationReference, a discrepancy between lesson plan and the implementation was found due to insufficienttime and too-much material, and a problem in applying various methods was found due to student’sbasic competence diversity ranging from the 75-80% to 20-25% mastery creating less conduciveatmosphere for effective teaching and learning process. The aims of this research are: 1) to investigate the effectiveness of cooperative teaching practice using STAD type in the topic of comparison; 2). investigate whether the learning outcome of the students who were involved in cooperative learning process is better than those who were involved in conventional learning process in the topic of comparison. This research was quasi experimental research. The samples of this research were the students of VIIA as the experimental classroom and the students of VIIB as the control classroom. Based on the descriptive analysis, it was concluded that the use of cooperative learning using STAD type in the topic of comparison in SMPN II Megaluh was proven effective with criteria 1) students mastery reach 87.09%, 2) the students active participation is effective, 3) the teachers capability in managing classroom is effective, 4) the students response of the teaching and learning practice are positive. Based on the analysis by using inferential t-test, it was gained ttest= 2.197 and ttest > ttable,. It means the students learning outcome using cooperative teaching and learning process was better than those using conventional teaching and learning process in SMPN II Megaluh Jombang, academic year 2013/2014.

The purpose  of this activity is for increasing  students interest  in learning  at MI Nasrul  Ulum Klagensrampat. This activity uses a learning  method in conveying material  to students.By applying this method the writer hopes that the learning process can be achieved properly. Therefore, it is very important for educators  to recognize several kinds of learning  methods so that students feel happy and comfortable when learning takes place. The writing of this work were supported by the researcher’s activity after doing identification  and communication with the teacher,  so that the researchers and the teacher  were able to find out the obstacles faced by the students in teaching and learning  activity which has been done. In this activity, the researcher applied various methods of effective and innovative teaching which were able to increase students learning interest. The learning methods are puzzle method, flashcard method, silent way method, make a match method, snowball method, bamboo method, and monopoly method

The aimed of this study was to increase learning outcome, through the implementation of Cooperative Learning Model Type Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) with peer tutor technique on XI Science Grade of SMAN 1 Tenggarong.This Pre-Experimental study was conducted on two stages are, lesson plan preparation and learning implementation on the class.  This study used One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The data were collected from observation, test and questionnaire.  After the data were analyzed, the results showed that(1) The feasibility of lesson plan could be categorized as very good; (2) The highest of student activity was to fulfill the student worksheets (16.3%); (3) Student responses to learning activity classified as good.  Generally, the most favored of science process skills were explorate, associate and communicate; (4) Learning outcomes were: (a) for cognitive score, the proportion of score test was increased  from 0,27 (pretest) to 0,90 (posttest) with the highest of average gain score was 0,87; (b) the student  skill achievement was very good; (c)  the student attitude was good; (d)  the mastery of individually and classical student learning have increased. It can be conclude that the implementation of Cooperative Learning Model Type Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) with peer tutor technique is effective to increase learning outcome. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa melalui penerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Team Assisted Individualization (TAI)  dengan teknik tutor sebaya pada siswa kelas XI IPA di SMAN 1 Tenggarong. Penelitian Pre Experiment ini dilaksanakan dalam dua tahap, yaitu persiapan perangkat pembelajaran dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran di kelas. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan One Group Pretest-Posttest. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan observasi, tes, dan kuisioner. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitpbl atif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1)  keterlaksanaan  RPP sangat baik; (2) aktifitas siswa tertinggi adalah mengisi LKS (16.3%) ; (3) respon siswa pada kegiatan pembelajaran rata-rata baik. Keterampilan proses sains yang disenangi umumnya mengeksplorasi, mengasosiasi dan mengkomunikasikan; (4) hasil belajar : (a) pengetahuan mengalami peningkatan proporsi hasil test dari 0.27 pada pretest menjadi 0.90 pada posttest dengan rata-rata score gain kategori tinggi (0.87); (b) nilai keterampilan sangat baik (3.44); (c) nilai sikap baik (3.13); (d) ketuntasan individu dan klasikal mengalami kenaikan dari 0% menjadi 100%.  Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Team Assisted Individualization (TAI)  yang dipadukan dengan teknik tutor sebaya efektif dalam  meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Classroom action research has been done in SMA Negeri 2 Bangkinang Kota on Indonesian Language subjects with research object of class XI MIA 4 in odd semester 2016/2017. This study was conducted as an effort to improve the learning ability of Indonesian for students of class XI MIA 4. STAD type was chosen to be applied after through observation and reflection conducted by the researcher. Researchers plan actions based on observations and reflections that have been done through the preparation of STAD type learning based learning tools consisting of Cycle I / test questions, and Cycle II test/test, observation sheet and lesson plan and other supporting learning tools. The implementation of STAD type cooperative learning in the learning process through the preparation stage, class presentation, group activities, carry out evaluation, group awards and recalculate basic scores and group changes. This study can be completed in 2 cycles 6 meetings, at meeting 3 and 6 meeting conducted test / repeat and complete recapitulation of learning showed that there has been an increase of positive student learning activity in class and increasing of test mean (repetition) and also increase of classical completeness from cycle I with cycle II. Student activity during the learning process is observed by the observer as data for evaluation and reflection. Average recapitulation of test (repetition) and learning completeness obtained from the value of the test in cycle 1 and the value of tests in cycle 2. Based on the results of research can be concluded that the application of learning with STAD type in class XI MIA 4 SMA Negeri 2 Bangkinang City able to improve learning outcomes subjects Indonesian language is indicated by the average test (repetition) and classical completeness in every cycle.

The low of student’s achievements were indicated because the students were not active and the teacher’s lack of skill. This condition needs a further research in order to improve the student’s achievement through cooperative learning type SAVI in impulse and momentum subject. The specific purposes of this research are to describe: 1) teacher’s skill, 2) the student’s achievements; 3) the students’ participation in the classroom; and 4) the students’ responses. These research were classroom action research that consists of 3 cycles. The instruments were used Lesson Plan, Worksheet, Evaluation Sheet, affective scoring sheet, teacher’s skill and student’s participation observation sheet, and the students’ response observation sheet. The data were acquired by the observation results, questionnaire, and documentation. The results of this research were: 1) The teacher’s skill was improved from 99.21% to 96% and 99.28%; 2) the students’ achievements including cognitive and affective aspects were improved from 81.46% to 88.1%, and 90.96%; 3) The participation of students in teaching and learning process were also increased from 63.67% to 84.43%, and 85.5% in cycle III, 4) the students’ responses during teaching and learning process were very good. According to the results, it can be concluded that the achievements of XI IPA-1 students of SMA Negeri 1 Jorong in learning impulse and momentum were improved after the treatment of cooperative learning model type SAVI.
