Physico-chemistry and biological data were investigated  from  October 2010 until April 2011 of Jatiluhur reservoir. A total of six sampling stations were selected for this study. The discharge and hidrological data were obtained from Perum Jasa Tirta II Jatiluhur. The results showed that the hydrological regime in the reservoir Jatiluhur was affected by global phenomenon La Nina events in 2010 and early in 2011. Stream flows were determined during sampling to range from 78  to 482.5 m3/s. The water quality findings were as follows: pH (6.93-8.81), temperature (26.37-30.6°C), dissolved oxygen (0.733-5.2 mg/l), conductivity (2.45-233µmhos/cm), COD (7.36-96.9 mg/l), turbidity (4.063-65.6 NTU), total phosphate (0.002-0.324 mg/l), total nitrogen (0.99-5.96 mg/l), chlorophyl (2.237-43.37 mg/m3), visibility (30-160 cm). The eutrophication was pronounced at Jatiluhur reservoir. Canonical Correspendence Analysis found that some water quality parameters correlated positively with the discharge and the water level.

The aims of this research were to know the water environmental quality and to determine the diversity and abundance of plankton in Youtefa and Yos Sudarso Bay. The Sampling was conducted from October 2012 to January 2013 at two observation stations of Youtefa Bay and four observation stations of Yos Sudarso Bay during the dry and rainy seasons. The Sampling of plankton in each observation stations were made horizontally using a plankton net size number of 25. Biological data are determined using diversity index, uniformity index, dominance index and abundance calculations. Physico-chemical parameters were analyzed descriptively by comparing the result data of research with waters quality standards for marine’s biota based on decree of Environment Minister No. 51 year 2004. The results of water quality showed that in general, the quality of aquatic environment in Youtefa and Yos Sudarso Bay did not comply with water quality standards for marine’s biota issued by The Minister of Environment of Republic of Indonesia. While based on the diversity index analysis, water quality in Youtefa and Yos Sudarso Bay was categorized as a half polluted-heavily polluted. Diversity of plankton in Youtefa and Yos Sudarso Bay during the dry and rainy seasons was categorized as low-medium. Abundance of plankton in Youtefa and Yos Sudarso Bay was in low category. Key words: Abundance, diversity, plankton, Youtefa Bay, Yos Sudarso Bay.

Zooplankton was studied in Pulau Tinggi, Marine Park, Johor, Malaysia for their abundance and species diversity. Water samples were collected within three months, April, June and October 2015.Ten sampling stations were established during the study period. A total of 54 species of copepods from 29 genera and 22 families were identified. An average of 86.70 % copepods and 15.84% non-copepods were recorded among the zooplankton groups. The water quality parameters such as depth, dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, turbidity, and salinity were measured in situ.  The present study was taken to observe the abundance and diversity of zooplankton in Pulau Tinggi, Johor. This research will be helpful for fisheries authorities and marine controlling departments. The effect of different physico-chemical parameters on the biomass and density of zooplankton will be discussed in the coming paper.

Present work was pertaining to studies conducted at one lentic perinial water body at Talaguppa viz., Gourikere pond Tq:Sagar Karnataka.  The period of study undertaken it one year from May - 2007 to April - 2008. This study is intended to monitor the water quality of Gourikere pond of Talaguppa, Sagar Tq: Shimoga District and also helpful for using this water for making fisheries activity. The present investigation encompassed collection of data pertaining to various aspects such as meteorological condition, physicochemical parameter of water body of Gourikere pond. Air and surface water temperatures varied from 29.7oC to 37.5oC and from 20.6oC – 24.8oC. And the pH ranged between 8.1 to 9.1. Variation in dissolved oxygen content was from 6.4 mg/l to 10.8 mg/l  and variation in CO2 was observed from 7.4 mg/l to 12.00 mg/l.  Concentrations of nutrients viz. nitrates (0.69 mg/l to1.30 mg/l), phosphates (0.30 mg/l to 0.63 mg/l) Magnesium (11.79 mg/l to 88.64 mg/l) sulphate (2.45 mg/l to 5.16 mg/l) Calcium (33.41 to 138.10mg/l), also varied independently. The Gomti originates from Gomat Taal (Fulhaar jheel) near Madho Tanda, Pilibhit, India. It extends 960 km through Uttar Pradesh and meets the Ganges near Saidpur, Kaithi, 27 km from Varanasi district. The Earth is facing issues with a large kind of pollutants. Healthy soil, clean water, and air are very much necessary to live properly. In today’s world, Soil, water, and air are not any longer clean and pure however create human health risks. Gomti receives immense quantities of untreated waste, agricultural runoff, brings heaps of pesticides, fertilizer, street washout's transportation oil, asphalt, sediment, and lots of sorts of serious metals from different sources. The study area covers the Gomti River in part of Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh lies between 80.899893 to 80.968180 N latitude 26.886799 to 26.833321 E longitude. To thoroughly investigate the Physico- Chemical Parameters in the Gomti River of Lucknow city, a total of eight sampling sites were selected between Guaghat upstream and Piparaghat. Samples are collected and analyzed from the proposed locations. The Physico-chemical parameters in the water of river Gomti were assessed to know about the water quality of the river. Parameters like temperature, TSS, TDS, pH, Hardness, Turbidity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Nitrate, Chlorine, Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium, BOD, COD were determined. After analysis of the parameters in the laboratory, variation of the parameters at a different location is analyzed. We present this variation through the graphs. Variation of many of the parameters is within limit according to the standards limit but some parameters show the excess pollution in the river. Dissolved Oxygen is zero at three sites and other three sites it is below 3 PPM which shows the pollution in water. It could be due to the high discharge of water from the catchment area, industries, and various drains. We also analyzed the correlation between the parameters. It will help to know the variation in any parameters by changing the value of other parameters.

This study was conducted to measure the water quality parameters of old Brahmaputra River in Mymensingh district near Bangladesh Agricultural University to determine the water quality index (WQI) of the River Brahmaputra. Water quality focuses on various aspects of the physico-chemical parameters by which the quality of the water body can easily be elucidated. Three different locations were selected within the study area. Water samples were collected in April 2015 from these three locations along the river and analyzed for these physico-chemical parameters: pH, Dissolve Oxygen (DO), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Ammoniacal Nitrate (AN), Suspended Solids (SS). The values of these parameters were used to calculate the WQI based on the equation derived by the Department of Environment (DoE) Malaysia. The WQI was found to be 57.58, which falls in the class IV category and means that the water is “very polluted” and as of April 2015, this water is not suitable for public water supply, not suitable for recreational purpose, has limited potential for aquaculture but is suitable for irrigation.Progressive Agriculture 27 (3): 355-361, 2016

Abstract The study determines the physico-chemical parameters of water from Odo-Ebo River with a view to providing information on the effects of discharge from carwash on the River’s water quality. Samples (48) for physico-chemical water quality were collected monthly over a period of an annual cycle (February 2015–January 2016) from four stations, namely: upstream (about 500 m before the carwash), two discharge points (1st and 2nd discharge points), and downstream (about 500 m after the carwash). The discharge points had higher mean values in 9 out of the 13 investigated water quality parameters, especially plant nutrient ions (phosphate, nitrate, and sulphate), with the discharge points significantly differing from the other stations in terms of phosphate concentration and apparent colour. This led to reduction in dissolved oxygen and zooplankton abundance, changes in apparent water colour, and increase in COD at the effluent receiving points. Furthermore, the higher mean values of dissolved oxygen, BOD5, turbidity, and true colour recorded upstream and downstream were reflections of higher biological productivity and organic detritus at these stations as compared to discharge points. The specific presence of some eutrophic species at the discharge points has only further proven the negative effects the effluent from the carwash had on the river, thus posing a potential threat to its aquatic organisms’ diversity. This eutrophication effect was observed downstream as an increase in zooplankton abundance and diversity. Therefore, environmental protection regulations are needed to reduce anthropogenic influence on the rivers in Nigeria.

Abstract The quality of water is traditionally assessed by the collection of physico-chemical parameters, i.e., pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen of the water bodies. However, the variations in environmental factors may have an impact on the quality of water, as changes in these attributes may affect the water bodies. These factors include the topographical, geological, lithological and soil type parameters of the watershed. In this study, the relationship amongst the physico-chemical, topographical, geological, lithological and soil type parameters of Rawal watershed was evaluated. The parameters included in the present study could be classified as follows: (a) water quality parameters (b) topographical parameters, (c) geological parameters, (d) lithological parameters, and (e) soil type parameters. Water quality parameters consisted of dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity and temperature. The topographical parameters include the slope and aspect of the watershed while the lithological, geological and soil type parameters include the lithology, geology and soil type of the watershed. Pearson's correlation was used to determine the relationship amongst these different parameters. The results have revealed that the correlations of the topographical, lithological, geological parameters with the water quality parameters in the Rawal watershed for the monsoon seasons of June to August mostly have the same trend. Throughout the four year time period, turbidity and temperature parameters had positive correlations with soil type (ranging 0.03–0.24), however had weak correlation with geological and lithological parameters. Dissolved oxygen did not show any relationship with topographical and lithological parameters. The results for pH show that it has weak to fair positive correlations with topographical parameters. However, this analysis is based on the Landsat 8 images extracted for the monsoon seasons of the years of 2017–2020, and to examine a more prominent impact of geographical or environmental factors on the physico-chemical features, a large dataset should be considered.

O Brasil apresenta grande disponibilidade de água doce em seus mananciais. Fazendo parte desse recurso encontra-se, o rio Paciência, localizado na Ilha do Maranhão destacado pela sua importância local, principalmente por contribuir com suas águas para recarga dos mananciais subterrâneos, fonte de abastecimento público de vários bairros de São Luís, capital do estado. No entanto, este rio vem sofrendo comprometimento da qualidade de suas águas, consequência do processo de uso e ocupação dos espaços em sua bacia. Destacando-se como um dos principais problemas relacionados a qualidade de ambientes fluviais,  a eutrofização, que consiste no processo em que o corpo d’água adquire elevados níveis de nutrientes (fosfatos e nitratos), é um indicador determinante da qualidade da água. Neste sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar a qualidade da água e do estado trófico na bacia hidrográfica do rio Paciência atráves dos parâmetros fisico-químico evidenciando os trechos mais comprometidos conforme os valores alcançados nas análises. Within these contexts, the Paciência River, located on the Island of Maranhão stands out for its local importance, mainly for contributing its waters to the recharge of the underground springs, source of public supply of several districts of São Luís, capital of the state. However, this river has been compromising the quality of its waters, a consequence of the process of use and occupation of the spaces in its basin. Highlighting as one of the main problems related to the quality of fluvial environments, eutrophication, which consists of the process in which the body of water acquires high levels of nutrients (phosphates and nitrates), is a determinant indicator of water quality. In this sense, the objective of this work was to characterize the water quality and trophic status in the Paciência river basin through the physico-chemical parameters, showing the most compromised stretches according to the values reached in the analyzes. This paper shows the results obtained in field analysis performed at the Tamis River, starting from the settlement Jasa Tomic - border between Serbia and Romania to Pancevo - confluence of Tamis into the Danube. The Tamis is a 359 km long river rising in the southern Carpathian Mountains. It flows through the Banat region and flows into the Danube near Pancevo. During the years the water quality of the river has severely deteriorated and badly affected the environment and the river ecosystem. In situ measurements enabled determination of physico-chemical parameters of water quality of the Tamis River on every 400 m of the watercourse, such as: water temperature, pH value, electrical conductivity, contents of dissolved oxygen and oxygen saturation. The main reason of higher pollution of Tamis is seen in connection to DTD hydro system. Sampling was performed at 7 points with regard to color, turbidity, total hardness, alkalinity, concentration of ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, iron, chlorides and sulphates in samples. The aim of the present work was to evaluate water quality in the Tamis River taking into account significant pollution, which originates from settlements, industry and agriculture, and to suggest appropriate preventive measures to further pollution decreasing of the river's water.

Tarahara Fish Farm includes 37 large ponds as a fish super zone. Physicochemical parameters viz., air and water temperature, pH, DO, BOD, CO2, Cl-, TA and TH of these ponds were studied for two years (Nov. 2008 to Oct. 2010). The air temperature had positive and significant correlation with water temperature (r=0.893, P<0.01) but inverse and significant correlation with DO (r = - 0.669 P<0.05) and TH (r = - 0.673, P<0.05). Both air and water temperature showed a decreasing trend during the winter months of November to January and again September to October in both years. Similarly, positive and significant correlation showed by pH with DO (r =0.660, P<0.05) and BOD (r =0.846, P<0.05); by free CO2 with DO (r=0.854, P<0.01), chloride (r=0.648, P<0.05) and TA (r=0.616, P<0.05); by DO with TA (r =0.715, P<0.01) and chloride (r =0.625, P<0.05) and by TH with TA (r= 0.592, P<0.05) but inverse and significant correlation showed by pH with water temperature (r =-0.671, P<0.05); by free CO2 with BOD (r=-0.627, P<0.05) and by DO with BOD (r = -0.810, P <0.01). The water quality parameters were within suitable range for the fish growth and breeding with small fluctuations in different months during the first and second years. Physico-chemical parameters significantly (P<0.01; 0.05) differed between different months. However, no mass mortality of fish was recorded from this site. So, the area selected as fish super zone is fruitful to meet the expected production level of fishes and fish seeds in peripheral areas.
