LANGUAGE NOTE | Document text in Chinese; abstract in English only.In this response essay, Xiaosi, the author of [Philosophy of Family], made five points in response to Ni Peimin’s article, “The Way of the Family and the Gongfu of Regulating the Family.”1. Gongfu is indeed a philosophically significant concept that uniquely reflects the features of the Chinese Philosophical tradition. Ni’s recent works that advocate this concept provide a valuable contribution to philosophy.2. In his additional notes on Gongfu, Xiaosi points out that a sense of “enduring” or “lasting” and a sense of spending time in an accumulative fashion are two indispensible elements for an appropriate understanding of Gongfu.3. Greek philosophy does not seem to be included in this concept, which is unfortunate.4. Gongfu and familization may well be connected, each facilitating understanding of the other.5. Xiaosi also made two criticisms against Ni Peimin’s article.DOWNLOAD HISTORY | This article has been downloaded 27 times in Digital Commons before migrating into this platform.

The conquest of a dominant place over the members of the same race, with the result of using the power such a place allows and having the acceptance of the other members for being the leaders is a characteristic of the adult relationship between almost all animal species. The former time of childhood was dedicated to the imitation of the adults and to the experimenting of behaviors, or, in other words, learning and playing. Humberto Maturama believes that humans are, in behavioral tenns, an exception, as the time of childhood is extended throughout most adult life, which defines us humans as a neotenic race, and with the use of other behaviors, we have transformed what is the usual master/slave relation of adult members from other races. Like this, the family in the way we live it, becomes a human-invented structure that implies relationships between its members which are bounded by mutual trust and love. Mutatis mutandis we spend our life repeating relationships that use the same pattern. In this way, love would be the main engine of evolution and also our greatest invention.

This chapter sets out the various kinds of conflict between the value of equality and the value of those parent–child relationships that constitute the family. It offers two reasons not to pursue fair equality of opportunity all the way. On the one hand, we must be prepared for children of similar talent and ability raised by different parents to enjoy somewhat unfairly unequal prospects of achieving the rewards attached to different jobs, since the alternative would cost too much in terms of familial relationship goods. On the other hand, some unfairness in the distribution of those prospects could be beneficial for those who have unfairly less. In both cases, then, there are conflicts between fair equality of opportunity and other values.

Like an adult, in general a child has several senses of humanity (spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social) that each sense should acquire proper education. This paper discusses the spiritual education should be done by the family for children. The way offered by Khalid Ahmad al-Syantut can be used as a reference for educating the children's spiritual. The aspect of spiritual ideally is placed on the main priority in educating children, as the sense of spiritual has prominent role in strengthening the other senses of humanity. A strong soul will produce positive energy. On the contrary, a weak soul will weaken the whole other senses of humanity.[Anak seperti manusia dewasa pada umumnya memiliki beberapa sisikemanusiaan dalam dirinya (ruhiyah, fikriyah, jasadiyah, dan ijtimaiyyah).

Since Assistant Director Leopold was not needed at the lab until July 1, he took the train with Starker and Luna to Burlington to visit his mother and brothers. (Marie had married and moved to Illinois with her husband.) Together again, the “boys” immediately began plans for a trip—this time to Carhart’s proposed wilderness area in the boundary waters of Minnesota for two weeks of canoeing, camping, and fishing. Prior to trip departure, though, Aldo had to travel to Madison to prepare the way for the family move. Starker and his uncles Carl and Frederic headed straight to Ely, Minnesota, to arrange for the canoes and equipment (Luna stayed with Opa Leopold to await the arrival of the rest of his family). Their missions accomplished, Aldo and the other adventurers met and set off into the wilds of the Superior National Forest and the Canadian Quetico. The Leopold brothers had at last reached their magical North. For two weeks, the voyageurs paddled past granite outcroppings and tall pines, fishing for trout and listening to the mournful wail of loons. Aldo wrote in his journal, “The number of adventures awaiting us in this blessed country seems without end.” Later he added, “How Dad would have loved it! I am reminded of Isaac [sic] Walton’s terse but loving tribute—‘an excellent angler, now with God.’” Leopold and Starker returned to Madison, an “awfully dolled up town.” He had written earlier to Estella: “Nobody has any backyard except in the slums—not even a woodshed or fence or chickens—the backyards are open lawns just as the fronts. We have a little garden room at this place I am thinking of—which is not usually the case, but nobody keeps chickens, so we would do so at our own peril!” The rest of the family arrived shortly, and the Leopolds moved into a rented home “not far from the country.” Within the month, they bought a stucco house about a mile from the lab—at 2222 Van Hise Avenue—and their energies went into transforming it into a real home.

The paper provides a study of the disciples and family of Jesus in Mark 3.13–35. It argues, against the prevailing interpretations, that (1) Mark 3.13–35 should be viewed as a subsection of 3.13–6.13, thus 3.20–35 should not be read in isolation from 3.13–19. (2) Recognising the connection of 3.13–19 to 3.22–35 by 3.20–21 points the way to identifying the twelve as those who sought to restrain Jesus. (3) On this basis an outline reading of 3.20–35 is given. Four groups fall under critique here: the twelve, the crowd, the scribes from Jerusalem and the family, the last of these less severely than the other three groups. (4) Family is redefined in terms of discipleship and discipleship in terms of family. (5) The study also argues that, according to Mark, the households of supporters were the strategic centres of the Jesus movement. These are contrasted with synagogues and Temple, which are places of opposition to the Jesus movement.

There is the stereotypical but socially accepted expectation as to the family notion: how it should be structured, how the tasks should be distributed and what functions each member of a family should perform. Social expectations are one-track and unambiguous: one person is to fulfil the role of a woman/wife/mother, and the other that of a man/husband/father. The divisions are clearly defined and every indication of diversity is treated as pathology. I assume that the category of role might be oppressive not only in non-normative families, but in all types, including heterosexual households. Heterosexual family with a child (perceived as norm by the society) might be described as non-normative if norm, i.e. social expectations of the way of fulfilling the role by the father and the mother – is not conformed to the way people see it. The main aim of this article is to denote role oppression (especially in the role of a woman/wife/mother and a man/husband/father) not only in alternative family types (especially homosexual ones,) but in heterosexual families with children as well. The article will try to examine what makes such families non-normative too. This is going to be an analysis of the case study of a heterosexual family with children, whose members do not assume the clearly defined roles of a man/father and a woman/mother, established as the norm. It is significant that the family described themselves as non-normative, because they notice the clash between the existing norm and their way of functioning.

This aims to review and analyze the Jordanian experiment in the developmental regional planning field within the decentralized managerial methods, which is considered one of the primary basic provisions for applying and success of this kind of planning. The study shoed that Jordan has passed important steps in the way for implanting the decentralized administration, but these steps are still not enough to established the effective and active regional planning. The study reveled that there are many problems facing the decentralized regional planning in Jordan, despite of the clear goals that this planning is trying to achieve. These problems have resulted from the existing relationship between the decentralized administration process’ dimensions from one side, and between its levels which ranged from weak to medium decentralization from the other side, In spite of the official trends aiming at applying more of the decentralized administrative policies, still high portion of these procedures are theoretical, did not yet find a way to reality. Because any progress or success at the level of applying the decentralized administrative policies doubtless means greater effectiveness and influence on the development regional planning in life of the residents in the kingdom’s different regions. So, it is important to go a head in applying more steps and decentralized administrative procedures, gradually and continuously to guarantee the control over any negative effects that might result from Appling this kind of systems.   © 2018 JASET, International Scholars and Researchers Association

This book provides an unmatched introduction to eight of the most important works of classical Chinese philosophy—the Analects of Confucius, Mozi, Mencius, Laozi, Zhuangzi, Sunzi, Xunzi, and Han Feizi. The book places these works in rich context that explains the origin and meaning of their compelling ideas. Because none of these classics was written in its current form by the author to whom it is attributed, the book begins by asking, “What are we reading?” and showing that understanding the textual history of the works enriches our appreciation of them. A chapter is devoted to each of the eight works, and the chapters are organized into three sections: “Philosophy of Heaven,” which looks at how the Analects, Mozi, and Mencius discuss, often skeptically, Heaven (tian) as a source of philosophical values; “Philosophy of the Way,” which addresses how Laozi, Zhuangzi, and Sunzi introduce the new concept of the Way (dao) to transcend the older paradigms; and “Two Titans at the End of an Age,” which examines how Xunzi and Han Feizi adapt the best ideas of the earlier thinkers for a coming imperial age. In addition, the book presents explanations of the protean and frequently misunderstood concept of qi—and of a crucial characteristic of Chinese philosophy, nondeductive reasoning. The result is an invaluable account of an endlessly fascinating and influential philosophical tradition.

Marriage is an important thing in the life of a woman. The importance that our society attaches to marriage is reflected in our literature and it is the central concern of Shashi Deshpade’s novels. In our society where girl learns early that she is ‘Paraya Dhan’, and she is her parents’ responsibility till the day she is handed over to her rightful owners. What a girl makes of her life, how she shapes herself as an individual, what profession she takes up is not as important as whom she marries. Marriage is the ultimate goal of a woman’s life. This paper attempts to probe into the problems of marriage through the protagonists of her novels where one enjoys the freedom of marriage and the other accepts the traditional marriage. Shashi Deshpade highlights the problems of marriage faced by middle-class people in finding suitable grooms for their daughters. This problem is well-illustrated through the characters of her novels. Since the girl’s mind over her childhood is tuned that she is another’s property, she tries to attach a lot of importance to it. it is indeed a tragedy that even in the modern age, Indian females echo the same sentiment where it was marriage which mattered most of them but not to the men. It is a beginning of females sacrifices in life that marriage brings to her. Shashi Deshpande encourages her female protagonists to rise in rebellion against the males in the family matters, instead she wants to build a harmonious relationship between man and woman in a mood of compromise and reconciliation.
