AbstrakArtikel ini menjelaskan tentang kegiatan dari pengabdian masyarakat sebagai salah satu kegiatan TRI DHARMA perguruan tinggi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan oleh dosen terhadap masyarakat yang membutuhkan terutama masyarakat diluar kampus. Pada kesempatan ini dilakukan kegiatan untuk para siswa Sekolah Menegah Kejuruan yang ada di Medan yaitu SMK Negeri 2 Medan dan SMK DWIWARNA Medan, kedua mitra ini memiliki jurusan menggambar bangunan/teknik. Masalah yang ada saat ini pada mitra adalah penerapan prinsip disain didalam kegitan menggambar bangunan belum optimal. Untuk itu solusi yang ditawarkan adalah mengadakan pelatihan untuk membekali para siswa ketrampilan menggambar lewat pendekatan disain. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah mengadakan sesi pelatihan dengan modul pelatihan CAD dan 3D Modelling dengan jadwal yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi sekolah. Kegiatan ini merupakan transfer ilmu pengetahuan di bidang CAD dan 3D Modelling yang juga dipelajari dan digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran di Departemen Arsitektur USU. Oleh karena itu pengetahuan ini diberikan dalam bentuk pelatihan agar dapat menambah wawasan dalam penguasaan teknologi terkini.Kata kunci: SMK, Pelatihan, Menggambar BangunanAbstractThis article described the activities of community service as one of the activities of Three university’s obligations. This devotional activity was done by lecturers to the community in need, especially the community outside of the campus. On this occasion, there were activities for Vocational High School students in Medan, SMK Negeri 2 Medan and SMK DWIWARNA Medan, both partners have building / engineering drawing major. The current problem with partners was the application of design principles in drawing the building which had not been optimal yet. For that case, the solution offered was conducting the training to equip the students with drawing skills through design approach. The method of implementation of this activity was holding a training session with CAD and 3D Modeling training modules with a schedule associated to the school conditions. This activity was a transfer of science in the field of CAD and 3D Modeling which was also studied and used in the learning process at the Department of Architecture USU. Therefore this knowledge was given in the form of training in order to add insight in the mastery of the latest technology.Keywords: Vocational High School (SMK), Training, Building Drawing

The process of preparing students on vocational education that includes the development of skills, competency, understanding, attitudes, work habits and the appreciation needed by workers to enable them to work successfully in their fields should be of interest to educators in vocational education institutions. Early observations of science and the emphasis on authentic assessment suggested that the 2013 curriculum for vocational high school is a renewal or innovation of the previous curriculum. The research is done through descriptive-qualitative re-search method. The population in this study is all teachers of vocational subject vocational competence of building drawing techniques in Bantul Regency. The technique of collecting data through an interview, observation, and documentation, data is analyzed to get a description about research object. The results showed that the selection of strategies and learning approaches should be studied closely, especially in relation to their relevance to learning missions, learning objectives, students' potential and characteristics, and environ-mental resources. Vocational teachers have at least four important roles in developing students' employability skills, namely the role of teachers as demonstrators, as mediators, as evaluators and as competent individuals. Implementation of the 2013 curriculum learning on the competence of building drawing techniques from several previous studies can be concluded to be implemented adequately.

Abstract Implementation of demonstration method in the teaching of chemistry is assigned as the right strategy to improve students’ achievement as it is proved that the method can bring an abstract concept to reality in the class. The study is conducted to vocational high school students in SMKN1 Pargetteng getteng Sengkut Pakfak Barat at accademic year 2013. The teaching has been carried out three cycles on the teaching of chemistry topic of colloid system. In the study, the class is divided into two class, experiment class and control class. The demontration method is used to teach students in experimental class while the teaching in control class is conducted with lecture method. Both are evaluated by using multiple choise tests before and after the teaching procedures, and the ability of students to answer the problems are assigned as students’ achievements. The results showed that demonstration method improved students’ achievement in chemistry. The students in experimental class who are taughed with demonstration method (M=19.08±0.74) have higher achievements compare with control class (M=12.91±2.52), and both are significantly different (tcalculation 22.85 > ttable 1.66). The effectivity of demostration method in experimental class (97%) is found higer compare to conventional method in control class (91%).
