The article analyzes the essence and content of moral values of schoolchildren. In addition, their classification is given. Based on the judgments and research results of J. Halstead, T. D. Van Heest, L. Kohlberg, E. Griggs, J. Piaget, it is stated that in the process of forming value orientations it is important to diagnose the level of moral culture of students throughout learning, taking into account the dynamics. Indicators and criteria of high, medium and low level of moral culture of students are defined and analyzed. The review of effective methods of formation diagnostics of students’ moral values (the “Choice”, “Examiner”, a technique of revealing the value orientations of M. Rokych) is offered. The results of using some methods and determining the level of moral culture of high school students in Ukrainian schools are demonstrated.

The objective of this research is to find out the effect of Personality (P) and knowledge students about ecosystem (KS) on environmental behaviour (EB). An expost facto method has been used by selecting 8 sample for each cell. Reliability of P was  .964, KS was .937 and EB was .95. Data analyzed by two-way ANOVA. Research results revealed that there was environmental behaviour significant difference between those students who have most extraversion personality compared to introversion personality. Moreover, there was significant interaction effect between personality and knowledge students about ecosystem on environmental behaviour.

The paper discusses links between bilingualism and creativity. It begins with a theoretical introduction and then presents research results based on the Creative Behaviour Questionnaire KANH–I (Popek 2000) in a group of 107 high school students. The obtained data was used to test group differences between attendees of classes learning German bilingually and their peers following standard curriculum, which yielded no significant results. The correlation analysis between bilingualism and the dimensions of creative behaviour according to KANH–I yielded no significant results as well. Finally, possible explanations of the results are discussed, along with the limitations of the present study.

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mendeksripsikan nilai- nilai karakter dalam pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara. Subjek penelitian adalah 23 siswa kelas X A-3 SMKN 1 Bulango Utara, Kabupaten Gorontalo. Data yang diperoleh berupa hasil observasi proses pembelajaran, hasil wawancara, dan deskripsi hasil studi dokumen. Selanjutnya, data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan model interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara bahasa Indonesia di SMK Negeri 1 Bulango Utara belum sepenuhnya mengandung nilai-nilai berkarakter. Nilai-nilai karakter yang selalu muncul adalah jujur, bertanggung jawab, percaya diri, ingin tahu atau cinta ilmu, dan menghargai orang lain. Sementara itu, nilai-nilai karakter yang intensitas kemunculannya kurang dalam setiap pembelajaran adalah bernalar (berpikir logis, kritis, kreatif, dan inovatif), santun, dan disiplin. Hasil pembelajaran mencakup hal-hal berikut: (a) objektivitas pembicaraan, (b) kualitas isi pembicaraan, (c) sasaran atau arah pembicaraan, dan (d) gaya berbicara.Kata kunci: keterampilan berbicara, nilai karakter, bahasa Indonesia, siswa SMKMORAL VALUES IN THE LEARNING OF INDONESIAN SPEAKING SKILLSAMONG VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AbstractThis study aims to describe moral values in the learning of speaking skills. The research subjects were 23 students of Grade X A-3 SMKN 1 Bulango Utara, Gorontalo Regency. The data were the results of observations on the learning process, interviews, and description of the document study. The data were analyzed by the interactive model. The results show that the learning process of Indonesian speaking skills at SMK Negeri 1 Bulango Utara has not fully emphasized moral values. The values that always come up are honesty, responsibity, confidence, curiousity or love of science, and respect for others. Meanwhile, the values that rarely appear in learning are reasoning (logical, critical, creative, and innovative thinking), politeness, and discipline. The learning outcomes include: (a) the conversation objectivity, (b) the quality of the conversation content, (c) the goal or the direction of the conversation, and (d) the speaking style.Keywords: speaking skills, moral values, Indonesian, vocational high school students

This research aims to examine the construction of the discourse of religious and moral values within the official English textbook for Indonesian high school students and to expose the underlying ideology. The textbook analyzed is the official English textbook for junior high school grade VII, Bahasa Inggris: When English Rings the Bell. This study makes use of Fairclough’s three dimensional models, namely textual, processing, and socio-cultural analysis. In the level of textual analysis, the researcher addresses the issues of transitivity and modality. In the processing stage, the focus is on the issue of assumption. Meanwhile, the ideology investigation is done in the last level. The findings shows that the discourse of the religious and moral values are classified into four main categories: values toward one’s self (e.g being disicpline regarding the time), values toward others (e.g loving them and being attentive to their occupation and physical appearance), values toward animals (i.e. loving and being attentive to them), and values toward things around (i.e. being attentive to them). The Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) investigation reveals that the discourse of religious and moral values within this book represents some dominating ideologies, such as the western-secular way of greeting people, the outschool activites of the mid-high social class, the rich’s-style house furniture, and the notion that beauty is identical with white skin and straight hair, the capitalism-driven economics system, as well as the idea of woman emancipation by the feminist movement.

The relevance of this problem research is conditioned on the intellectually trained teaching staff shortage and the complexity of organizing pre-professional teacher training in high school. The purpose of this article is to develop and test the program named "Intellect" for students of pedagogical specialized classes. The content of the program has an intellectual, emotional-value, communicative holistic impact on students: The leading research method for this problem was the questionnaire survey, that was conducted in 114 high school students and 13 teachers, which allowed to identify positive dynamics in high school students attitude to modern education and pedagogical activity. The article proves that an expanded psychological and pedagogical intelligence-based education can be the constructing successful life trajectories foundation for high school students The presented in the article research results indicate that the «Intellect» program implementation give rise to intellectual (cognitive) activity of high school students; pedagogical education professional preferences cultivation; activation of essential in the pedagogical field personal qualities of high school students; students self-development. Practical relevance of the research results is the ability to use the presented program to organize pedagogical oriented specialized classes.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to reveal the moral values in the narrative texts of English textbooks for senior high school students published by the Ministry of Education and Culture and also the English teachers’ and students’ responses at SMK Triguna Utama, South Tangerang City, related to the topic under investigation. This research used content analysis design. The data sources were the narrative texts in the English textbooks and teachers’ and students’ responses. The data were collected through documentation, interview, and questionnaire. Data analysis procedures consisted of perusing, eliciting, coding, tabulating, interpreting, drawing conclusions and validating. The research found that the English textbooks lacked fables and gave a smaller portion to Indonesian local stories. Moreover, the narrative texts were dominated by the value of kindness, while, fairness was included least explicitly in the stories. These findings were supported by the views and preferences of the teachers and students. Lastly, the teachers and students compactly argued that vocabulary is the greatest barrier to teaching and learning narrative text, and the effectiveness of the school’s atmosphere in instilling moral values still needed further research.   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap nilai-nilai moral dalam teks naratif buku teks bahasa Inggris untuk siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas yang diterbitkan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan dan juga tanggapan guru dan siswa bahasa Inggris di SMK Triguna Utama, Kota Tangerang Selatan, terkait dengan topik yang diselidiki. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain analisis isi. Sumber datanya adalah teks naratif dalam buku teks bahasa Inggris dan tanggapan guru dan siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, wawancara dan angket. Sedangkan, prosedur analisis data meliputi pembacaan teks secara cermat, pemilahan data, penyandian, tabulasi, interpretasi, penarikan simpulan dan validasi. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa buku teks bahasa Inggris tersebut masih kekurangan fabel dan cerita lokal Indonesia. Selain itu, teks naratif didominasi oleh nilai kebaikan, sementara nilai keadilan kurang tergambarkan dalam cerita. Temuan ini didukung oleh pandangan dan preferensi para guru dan siswa. Terakhir, para guru dan siswa secara sepakat berpendapat bahwa kosa kata merupakan penghalang terbesar dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran teks naratif, dan efektivitas atmosfer sekolah dalam menanamkan nilai moral masih memerlukan penelitian lebih lanjut.   How to Cite: Setiawan, I., Fahriany. Polymeric materials are important at present and there are few studies of High School students' ideas about them. Therefore, we carried out a study that aims to approach High School Spanish students' knowledge about these materials. A qualitative methodology, based on semi-structured interviews, has been used. Twelve High School students (eight of 10th grade and four of 12th grade) have participated in this research. Results indicate that: a) Tenth grade students' knowledge level about polymers is low, i.e. this level is inadequate for a scientifically literate citizen; and b) This knowledge level does not significantly improve after finishing 12th grade.

The issue of terrorism is one of the issues that have become public consumption for free at some time. Such issues have been dispersed in such a way, that berkitan with the issue of terrorism to global terrorism issues nationwide. It has started to have an impact on the formation of the mindset and character of the community, one of them against students at the level of theupper menangah school (HIGH SCHOOL). The character and mindset was formed and acquired through the contents of mass media news coverage of related issues of terrorism by means of construction in such a way by each of the mass media (especially print media) with differing goals and methods. This becomes something interesting when further related how the form of the construction of the mass media (print) contemporary form of terrorism through the preview imagologi and critical linguistics has deemed contributions towards the formation of character of the community, particularly high school students. In this case, the collection of data is carried out by an examination of the literature and advanced observation then analyzed using the theory of imagologi and critical Linguistics, then research results presented in narrative form (informal methods).Research results are obtained, namely the occurrence of construction news coverage by various mass media print of terrorism in Indonesia and in the world. The construction was done through analogy, transfer of facts, and discrimination against particular groups are considered a trigger action terrorism. Abstrak Isu terorisme merupakan salah satu isu yang telah menjadi konsumsi umum secara bebas pada beberapa waktu terakhir. Isu tersebut telah tersebar sedemikian rupa, baik yang berkitan dengan isu terorisme nasional hingga isu terorisme global. Hal tersebut pun telah mulai berdampakpada pembentukan pola pikir dan karakter masyarakat, yang salah satunya terhadap siswa pada tingkat sekolah menangah atas (SMA). Pola pikir dan karakter tersebut dibentuk dan diperoleh melalui isi pemberitaan media massa terkait isu terorisme dengan cara konstruksi yang sedemikian rupa pula oleh masing-masing media massa (khususnya media cetak) dengan metode dan tujuan yang berbeda-beda. Hal inimenjadi sesuatu yang menarik untuk ditelaah lebih jauh terkait dengan bagaimana bentuk konstruksi media massa (cetak) terhadap isu kontemporer berupa terorisme melalui tinjauan imagologi dan linguistik kritis yang dianggapmemiliki kontribusi terhadap pembentukan karakter masyarakat, khususnya siswa sekolah menengah atas. Dalam hal ini, pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan telaah pustaka dan observasi lanjutan yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teori imagologi dan linguistik kritis, kemudian hasil penelitian disajikan dalam bentuk naratif (metode informal).Hasilpenelitian yang diperoleh yaitu terjadinya konstruksi pemberitaan oleh berbagai media massa cetak terhadap isu terorisme, baikdi Indonesia maupun di dunia. Konstruksi tersebut dilakukan melalui analogi, pengalihan fakta, dan diskriminasi terhadap golongan tertentu yang dianggap sebagai pemicu aksi terorisme.
