The creative industry is currently growing very rapidly in developing countries. This is indicated by various government policies to increase the competitiveness of this industry. Value chains are needed to gain the competitive advantage within this industry at every additional step of the chain. However, there is no comprehensive research on the creative industry value chain in developing countries, such as Indonesia, especially in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This study attempts to explore the concept of industrial chain values to narrow the gaps that exists in the literature. The research method used is a qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews and observations of 11 SMEs consisting of 5 creative business sub-sectors, namely the culinary, fashion, craft, photography, and visual communication design sectors. The results of this study indicate that, in creative industries, co- creation is the differentiator on the value chain activities, especially those that offer customization. Meanwhile, the use of social media is also considered as an important value chain activities that must be used to effectively communicate the value of the business. The results of this study can be used by stakeholders in Indonesian SMEs as a reference for formulating competitiveness strategies for this creative industry.

When SMEs are part of global value chain, the flows of information in cross-border buyer-supplier relationships which emerge from inward-outward internationalisation connections should be addressed. This study therefore investigates the learning processes of internationalising small and medium enterprises that engage in inward and outward internationalisation. Hence, this study adopts a qualitative case study approach based on ten cases of the internationalising SMEs in Malaysia. Semi-structured interviews with the Managing Directors of the selected SMEs were conducted over a two-year period. Additionally, participant observations were conducted by attending the meetings related to import-export activities and documentations were gathered for data triangulation Findings of this study highlights that the relationship with key foreign suppliers empowered case firms to connect inward to outward internationalisation through collaborative knowledge sharing. The distribution of knowledge through tacit-tacit and tacit-explicit knowledge sharing underpinned by formal planning was a prerequisite for inward-outward internationalisation connections to be established.

Creative industries including its subsector handicraft, is very potential to be developed, because Indonesia is rich in culture heritage. Creative industries is largely related to a group of micro , small and medium enterprises which are mostly located in rural areas . Industry has entered the era of globalization which is rapidly developed, so that the role of UKM (small&medium enterprises) in handicraft as a part of the creative industries to achieve welfare society should be developed. The appropriate strategic planning will spur the development of this industry. Mendong craft is one of the creative industry subsector that exists in Sleman. Methods of analysis is using value chain and SWOT analysis. From the data, it is found that mendong craft is a cultured asset that deserve to be developed. Mendong, as the material for the weaved craft is an abundant local natural asset, but a lack of interest from the local community to develop this industry brings less quantity of product that is produced. This craft is still less touched so that it has limitation in creation/ design, production,commerlialization, and distribution. The reality is that the entrepreneurs are afraid to enter the global marked caused by anxiousness about the inability to fulfill demanded quantity.

<p>Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have an important role and strategic for economic growth. This is because at the time of the economic crisis in Indonesia, SMEs are the economic sectors which have the most excellent durability. Wedoro Village in Sidoarjo city, Indonesia, is famous for the footwear creative industry especially slippers and shoes. A wide variety of slippers and shoes with different types available. Stores and outlets are widespread across the village. Wedoro region has been known as one of the predecessors of creative industries in the field of footwear. Currently the industrial centres of creative footwear is experiencing a decline in sales compared with its heyday in 2001-2006 years ago. This research aims to design a development strategy of the creative industry centre in Wedoro by using SWOT analysis and grand strategy. The results of this study indicate that the cause of the decline in sales is a flood of Chinese products, rising raw material prices, and the lack of innovation in product design. Hence, creative industry in Indonesia especially in Wedoro Village might need a guidance from the government in developing innovation in product design and marketing. It is therefore expected that the existence of a creative industry in Wedoro can grow and create occupations especially for local residents and also increase the revenue of the Sidoarjo city.</p>

The research is aimed to review competitiveness strategies of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) during the pandemic of Covid 19 to the MSME creative industries of Kp. Pelintahan notably. This research used primary and secondary data and used a descriptive qualitative approach for criticism to analyze the latest problems of MSME creative industries in this pandemic of Covid 19, which used semi-structured interviews, participative observation, and questionnaires for data accumulation technic. Then used AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method and continued with SWOT analysis to formulate a strategy for solving it. The respondence of this research is about ten employees of MSME creative industries Kp. Pelintahan. The result of SWOT analysis is about 0,49 for IFAS and -1,54 for EFAS. Based on SWOT Matrix, the MSME Creative Industries position in Kp. Pelintahan is on 2nd Quadran for rating, which MSME Creative Industries employees of Kp. Pelintahan can take advantage of even a little strength to minimize a terrifying threat. The primary strategy is the Diversification Strategy with their salespeople to market their products MSME Creative Industries Kp. Pelintahan, which the market is reached out of Sumatera except for Lampung.

This paper investigates the technical resources of cooperation of industry, government and university, and how industrial value chains (IVC) in e-tourism industry develop in such collaboration. First, the chance of cooperation between small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in tourism industry and information technology developers were discovered inside the national industry policies of Taiwan, and local technological universities could play a key role inside as an official resource importer. Then, theoretical feasibility of industry-government-university cooperation in e-tourism and IVC were testified to build the core concept of e-tourism IVC model with cooperation of industry, government and university. Furthermore, based on prospective framework in e-tourism, the research team, consisting of professionals in various fields, put the concept into practice by endeavoring to collaborate with enterprises in tourism and information and communication technology (ICT) industry. After complying with requirements of grant applying programs, the team acquired funds of 570,000 NTD from Ministry of Education (MOE), companies and universities, making this cooperation model preliminarily practical. As stated above, e-tourism IVC model with cooperation of industry, government and university is an applicable university-industry cooperation (UIC) model technological universities can utilize to enhance competitiveness of ICT and tourism industries, as well as SMEs.

This study aims to determine the plans and strategies adopted by the hotel industry during the COVID-19 crisis. In order to conduct this study, a qualitative research methodology was used where semi-structured interviews were conducted from three countries: Austria, Pakistan, and Indonesia. Interviews were conducted online with the help of applications such as Skype, WhatsApp, and Zoom. A thematic analysis was conducted in which codes, categories, and final themes were generated. The final themes are the study's findings, which are strategies for employees, strategies for customers, strategies for SME hotels, and strategies for the staff. Strategies for employees indicate the planning and programs of the SME Hotels. The study's findings show that strategies adopted by the hotel industries vary from country to country while depending on the contextual factors and role of the government. Most Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) hotels in developing countries are less familiar with how to react and survive in the conditions of the crises. This study aims to evaluate the program of internationalization of UMKM Creative Industries in Purbalingga . Respondents in this study are the SMEs Creative Industries business people who are considered to have knowledge about the Creative Industry in Purbalingga. Data collection using in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Based on the analysis concluded that several factors lead to non-optimal of Creative Industry MSEs internationalization programs sequences was lack of financial, managerial capabilities, lack of information, government support, and the international environment. In order to optimal, Creative Industry of MSMEs internationalization programs should be conducted to use counseling and sustainable facilitation, in which the government and successful entrepreneurs in the international market help entrepreneurs MSMEs creative industries in Purbalingga to succeed in the international market.

Currently creative industry in Indonesia is being develops as primary sector in economic development due to its capability to increase the value added of local resources, providing employment, and promoting tourism on the basis of sustainable development principles. Several techno park currently have been being developed by the government in various locations and various sector of economy as the focus of development. Sragen Tecno Park located in Central Java is one of Techno Park which focus on creative industry development trough business incubator model. In 2016 the program was followed by 10 (ten) new entrepreneurs as Tenants. By applying business incubator approach the Tenants were treated through the process beginning from selection, entrepreneurship training, managerial training, technical training, design and creativity training, as well as assistance, consulting, and advocating for marketing activities. Using the participatory action research, this qualitative study finds that business incubator model could improve creative industry values covering entrepreneurship values and art values of the Tenants, beside, supply chain and value chain of creative industry could be developed by the Tenant as well. This resulted in the improvement of business performance of the Tenant. Diffusion of innovation of creative industry values on the tenants trough business incubator model has indicated its effectiveness as an approach to develop Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), so that it has implication for policies of developing SMEs in other local resource based economic sector.

The primary objective of this research is to explore the complex and dynamic behavior of the business environment for small and medium enterprises. While investigating into the complexities and dynamism of the business environment, this research would also attempt to suggest some guidelines for the development and growth of SME sector in Pakistan. Cluster sampling technique has been used for this research. For the purpose of data collection semi structured interviews have be conducted from eighty entrepreneurs from four SME clusters. This research work concludes that the business environment in Pakistan is relatively more complex in nature than other developing countries. To develop the SME sector in Pakistan it is necessary to understand and manage the environmental complexities with in-depth environmental analysis.
