Road junctions constitute one of the most important elements of road infrastructure. These are the special types of intersections, the construction of which results in an increase in the level of road safety in the areas of expressways and motorways. A wrongly designed or insufficiently marked and illuminated road junction may mislead participants and cause dangerous situations. The article presents author's surveys conducted among drivers on the subject of road safety assessment in the areas of road junctions.

Network-wide road safety assessment throughout the whole network is one of the four road infrastructure safety management procedures regulated by Directive 2019/1936/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2019 Аmending Directive 2008/96/EC on Road Infrastructure Safety Management and one of the methods for determining the direction of investment in road safety. So far, the implementation of the procedure has been lightly regulated and adapted using various road safety indicators. The paper describes the evaluation of road accident data that is one of the criteria for conducting a network-wide road safety assessment. Taking into consideration that networkwide road safety assessment is a proactive road safety activity, the paper proposes to conduct road safety assessment considering the expected fatal accident density. Such assessment makes it possible to assess the severity of accidents, and the use of the predicted road accident data on calculating the introduced road accident rate contributing to the prevention of accidents. The paper describes both the empirical Bayes method for predicting road accidents and the application of one of the road safety indicators – the expected fatal accident density – to determine five road safety categories across the road network. The paper demonstrates the application of the proposals submitted to Lithuanian highways using road accident and traffic data for the period 2014–2018.

The article discuses some of the socio-psychological aspects of increasing of social advertising in the field of road safety. The author notes that in order to achieve the goal, the subject of propaganda must aware of the relationship between his individual behavior on the road and the reliability of the entire life support system.

Abstract More than 1,24 million people die each year on the worlds roads and between 20 to 50 million suffer from nonfatal injuries. The UN Road Safety Collaboration Meetings under the leadership of WHO developed the Programme for the Decade of Actions for road safety taking nations into the responsibility of improving their accident figures by the five pillars of a national Road Safety Policy, safer Roads, safer Vehicles, safer Road Users and Post Crash Care. It is this Safe System Approach that takes into consideration the land use, infrastructure and transport planning, road user’s abilities and limitations and the close cooperation of all governmental and none governmental stakeholders involved. Following the European Transport Safety Council's (ETSC) 8th Road Safety Performance Index Report on Ranking EU Progress on Road Safety; June 2014 Romania has made progress during the last 10 year but had still the highest fatality rate of 93 fatalities per 1 million inhabitants in Europe. [1] The contribution will present the main activities of the fife pillars with a focus on PIARC's Road Infrastructure Management tools to improve safety and function of the road infrastructure based on the experiences with the land use problems in Asian, African and European countries. A GPS based accident data system will help researchers and practitioners to improve their countries road safety. The report will show the important steps for safer roads which had been developed in Romania and how actions of short and long term measures on all five pillars have reduced the number of traffic victims remarkable in Eastern Germany after reunification and in addition how the hierarchy of motorways, 2+1 express roads, the rural roads and traffic calming in built up areas, have improved the economic development of cities and villages in a safe way.

AbstractHorizontal curves are one of the elements of road infrastructure where statistically a relatively high number of accidents have been reported. In the last 10 years in Poland, approximately 10% of all road accidents happened on horizontal curves of roads and was responsible for approximately 14% of all fatalities on Polish roads. Thus, this issue is important and requires extensive research and proper road safety treatments. One possible measure that may contribute to improvement of safety on road curves may be barriers. The purpose of this work is to assess, with use of numerical simulations, the performance of the 4-cable barrier systems installed on horizontal road convex curves. The most important parameters for road safety barriers are presented including the effect of various impact velocities and the radiuses of the road curves.

The European Directive on the Road Infrastructure Safety Improvement (2008/96/EC) has established the implementation of appropriate procedures as the basic tools for improving the road infrastructure on the trans-European road network. The Law on Roads (2018) prescribes the implementation of the following procedures: Road safety impact assessment; Road safety audit; Road safety inspection; Risk mapping; Black spot identification; and In depth road accident studies. The Law on Roads also prescribes that the Minister will prescribe the manner of implementation and the contents of the Evaluation, Audit and Independent Assessment reports, as well as the manner of determining the major risk portions and the identification and ranking of hazardous sites (black spots). Since the method of implementation and the content of the report are not yet prescribed, the authors contributed in this paper to defining the manner of implementation and content of the traffic safety report on the example of the section of the highway, as the highest category of state road. In the framework of the training of auditors and auditors, among others, a pilot project was carried out for the safety of traffic on the part of the E-75 (A1) highway, about 2,7 km ahead of the Mali Požarevac loop, including the loop. The verified part of the highway also includes a ramp with a toll ramp, service facility, overpass, bridge, etc., so the selected checked part is representative for defining a recommendation for the mode of implementation and the model for the preparation of the report.

The article deals with psychological components of the phenomenon of the professional image of the inspectors of the Road Patrol Service of the State Road Safety Inspectorate are the subject of the study. The purposes of the scientific article are to present psychological characteristics of leading components of the professional image of the inspectors of the Road Patrol Service of the State Road Safety Inspectorate and to determine the trends of its improvement. It’s established that the most significant elements of the discussed professional image are appearance, knowledge of normative legal acts, the culture of dialogue, competent speech and the ability to handle stress and require urgent attention and development – a normative legal acts and speech skills. A synthesis of the literature and an empirical study carried out using methods of a written survey, observation, ranking, and analysis of situations has allowed not only to reveal the psychological meaning of each component image, but also to identify the likely directions of its improvement. A special place among these directions is given to improving the quality of legal and psychological training, and training in practical linguistics in the field of business communication with traffic participants. The scientific novelty of research consists in the reflection of the modern view on the problem of professional image of the employee through the eyes of the subjects of its formation and in the formulation of specific proposals based on the experience of the respondents and sought after in the course of further modernization of the image of the inspectors of the Road Patrol Service of the State Road Safety Inspectorate.

The realizing and improvement of road infrastructure, of modern road networks provides normal, safe and pleasant road traffic conditions and also help prevent road accidents. The road network, with its constructive characteristics, has to offer optimal conditions for the movement of vehicles, pedestrians and other categories of participants in the road traffic. Starting from the case study of a road sector with heavy road traffic, the current paper analyzes the increase in road safety in Romanian localities along European and national roads through the implementation of specific measures such as setting up sidewalks, installing New Jersey median barriers, expanding the road sectors with 2+1 lanes, replacing normal pedestrian crossings with elevated crossings or with pedestrian crossing with mid-road waiting areas etc.

The article is about an important issue of regulating the minimum cost of production and, consequently, prices for the representation of entrepreneurs (associations) with reference to the requirements of road safety. These issues are often the subject of the case law at the Court of Justice at the level of the implementation of the rules governing competition. Recently the question was settled under a preliminary ruling concerned the requirements of Italian law, which, in the name of road safety protection, does not allow to offer prices lower than those benefits rigid minimum rates set by the service provider. The issues that are contrary to a competitive market, price-fixing agreements, are no strangers in different Member States, as exemplified by the findings of the national organization representing independent professionals. The question remains whether those situations are best remedied at the pace of the case law at the Court of Justice or whether there is a need for European Union legislation on the matter in the circumstances where transport contributes to the competitiveness of Europe. There is an interdependence between transport, environment, innovation and social as well as economic policies. The effort invested in this research translated into awareness of the complexity of the subject matter and – the author would encourage – possibilities for further exploration (which would require separate in-depth studies).

Increase in the interest of road safety and threats has influenced the promotion of research conducted in this area. When conducting the analysis of hazards in road traffic, special attention should be paid to the technical condition of the vehicle, the condition of the road infrastructure, the surroundings and the accessibility of the road and the behavior of road traffic participants. Road managers have the opportunity to influence the level of road safety directly, through the modernization and reconstruction of road infrastructure. In order to select effective solutions, it is necessary to conduct systematic research on the level of road traffic safety, accident rates and the effectiveness of implemented solutions. An example of the conducted research are the analysis of traffic participants' behavior. The paper presents an overview of the methods used to study the behavior of road users. One of the presented methods was developed and used as part of the Rector's Grant in 2017 by the Scientific Circle of Electrical Engineering in Transport Systems.

This paper will discuss the road safety assessment methods which are the road safety check to determine the road safety risks. safety professional considers road and traffic characteristics and crashes history The area of study is the Rustaq –Ibri road. The road was built in 2006, it is connected between Muscat and the governorates of Al-Dhahirah and South Batinah. The length is about 80 Km, and the speed limit is between 60 and 80 Km/h. By using the road safety check method to identify the problems which can happen due to the geometric design of the road, and the causes of car accidents on this road. This report will mention the effect of the geometric design of road on the number of car accidents, the causes of car accidents in this road, and provide suitable solutions to increase the safety on Rustaq-Ibri road.
