Abstract When young people come to harm in extra-familial contexts, professionals may move them a distance from their home community to protect them, and in doing so disrupt relationships in which they have encountered harm. However, relocations can also fracture young people’s protective relationships with family, peers, and professionals; relationships that have been positioned as targets for intervention in cases of extra-familial harm. The extent to which these relationships are considered during relocations is under-explored. Utilising semi-structured interviews with 16 social work professionals in England and Wales, we assessed their accounts of using relationships prior to, during, and following relocations in cases of extra-familial harm. Three themes emerged: using relationships during relocations to provide consistency, to collaborate, and to create safety. Professional accounts prioritised young people’s relationships with practitioners, over relationships with families, peers, and their wider communities, when using/seeking opportunities to offer consistency and to collaborate on safety plans. They also depicted a struggle to engage with the complex web of family, peer, and community relationships associated to young people’s protection in both their home communities and those they had been moved to; relationships that were critical for creating safety. Implications for practice and future research are discussed, highlighting the potential merits of offering integrated research and practice frameworks that hold together young people’s relationships with families, peers, communities, and professionals, in response to extra-familial harm.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, health professionals, including non-medical prescribers, needed to assess and treat patients whilst minimising personal contact. This required the rapid implementation of remote consultations. Simultaneously, in health education, virtual learning was fast-tracked to reduce transmission of the virus. A non-medical prescribing academic team and their learners (students) embarked upon a transitional journey to integrate remote consultations into the curriculum. This article will share the experiences of the academic team and learners during this transition and address the practical aspects of conducting remote consultations whilst maintaining patient safety, professional regulations and governance.

The article considers discrimination in the workplace as a psychosocial risk factor that affects the psychological safety of the subject of labor and imposes special requirements on his resilience, regardless of what level of the subject's vital activity the viability is analyzed. Safety in modern psychological science and related disciplines is interpreted in a variety of ways: through objective indicators of the safety of activities, as a socio-psychological phenomenon, as the psychological safety of personal. There is no unified theory that would link two constructs, safety and resilience that have a single semantic field. In this regard, attention to the antecedents of safety and resilience is significant. Workplace discrimination is one of them. Its manifestations in modern organizations are observed for various reasons, including racial or ethnic diversity within the organization, cultural and family values, and age. A brief analysis of research studies on safety, professional resilience, discrimination as a risk factor to safety and resilience is presented. It is emphasized that an important aspect of safety and resilience analysis is attention to their antecedents of possible risk factors. Workplace discrimination is one of them; its manifestations in modern organizations are observed for various reasons, including racial or ethnic diversity within the organization, cultural and family values, age. This article focuses on discrimination, including on the basis of age as a risk factor that can influence the viability of a professional.

Cross-border pharmacy sales of prescription drugs to U.S. patients by Canadian Internet pharmacies have generated significant controversy in the U.S. and Canada. Violative of U.S. legislation and Canadian professional codes of conduct, cross-border pharmacy has nonetheless flourished in response to strong demand and incomplete enforcement. Proponents laud the greater affordability of needed drugs provided by cross-border pharmacy; opponents decry the practice as unsafe, economically ill-advised and harmful to Canadian interests in the long term. This article evaluates the safety arguments that have been put forward by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and others and concludes that they do not justify a prohibition on prescription drug imports from Canada. Similarly. Canadian professional regulatory bodies' objections to the participation of Canadian pharmacists and physicians in cross-border dispensing are a misapplication of conduct rules developed in another context. Objections to cross-border drug sates based on an economic analysis assume normative positions that should be explicitly identified and socially determined. On the other hand, if patient safety, professional responsibility and economic arguments fail to provide adequate support for a policy of prohibition, then self-interest in protecting domestic drug supplies and prices may support, at least from a Canadian perspective, some constraints on cross-border pharmacy.

Conducting scientific work underwater is a challenging endeavor. From collecting samples to protecting underwater cultural heritage sites scientific divers need to address issues concerning scientific methodology, diving safety, professional acknowledgement, training, legal implications etc. All of these matters are handled in different ways depending on factors like region, organizations involved, legal framework, diving philosophy etc. producing a diverse framework on scientific diving as a distinct type of underwater work. The ScienceDIVER project’s main objective is to study and analyze this fragmented landscape, in order to provide insight and suggestions towards a commonly accepted framework that will promote scientific diving as a means of forwarding knowledge both within the scientific community and its interaction with the public.

Abstract Objective Neuropsychological assessments with monolingual Spanish and bilingual Spanish/English-speaking adults present unique challenges. Barriers include, but are not limited to, the paucity of test norms, uncertainty about the equivalence of translated neuropsychological tests, and limited proficiency in the provision of culturally competent services. Similar issues generalize to telephone- and video-based administration of neuropsychological tests or teleneuropsychology (TeleNP) with Hispanics/Latinos (as), and few studies have examined its feasibility and validity in this group. The sudden onset of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted neuropsychologists to identify alternative ways to provide equitable care. Clinicians providing TeleNP to this population during (and after) the pandemic must consider safety, professional factors, and systemic barriers to accessing and benefitting from virtual modalities. Method This clinical process manuscript describes how cross-cultural neuropsychologists across five U.S. academic institutions serving Hispanics/Latinos (as) developed TeleNP models of care during the pandemic. Results Workflows, test batteries, and resources for TeleNP assessment with monolingual and bilingual Spanish-speaking patients are included. Factors guiding model development and informing decisions to incorporate virtual administration of neuropsychological tests into their practice are also discussed. Conclusions Provision of TeleNP is a promising modality. Additional research in this area is warranted with focus on cultural and contextual factors that support or limit the use of TeleNP with this community.
