One of the efforts to increase crop yield based in sustainable agriculture is through the utilization of microbial inoculants (biofertilizers) and soil conditioners. Biofertilizer is an ingredient that contains beneficial microbial inoculants to increase soil nutrient availability for plants. Biochar has been recognized as a soil conditioner by improving soil physical, chemical, and biological properties as well as in retaining nutrients, thereby enhancing plant growth. However, the research regarding the effect of the combination between biofertilizers and biochar on growth and yield of upland rice are still at scarce. The field experiment was conducted to determine the impact of biofertilizers and biochar on growth and yield of upland rice in Andisols at Pasir Talang village in Rancakalong district, Sumedang, West Java.  This experiment used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisted of six treatments and four replicates. Biofertilizers consisted of N-fixer bacteria (Azotobacter chroococum, Azospirillum sp.) and phosphate-solubilizer microbes (Pseudomonas mallei, P. cepaceae, Aspergillus niger and Penicillium sp.). The treatments were combination of biochar (2,4, and 6 t ha-1) and biofertlizers (0 and 50 kg ha-1). The result of experiment revealed that combination of biochar and biofertilizers increased the growth and yield of upland rice significantly. The application 4 t ha-1of biochar and 50 kg ha-1 of biofertilizers gave the best yield of 5,81 t ha-1.

ABSTRACT<br />Application of organic fertilizer into the soil is designated as a source of macro, micro nutrients and organic acids; it also acts as soil ameliorant that improve physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. Application of high rates organic fertilizer has a constraint namely the availability and ease of application. Therefore, it is necessary to learn the use of organic fertilizer with low rates to improve the efficiency of chemical fertilizers. This research was aimed to study the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of paddy rice, as well as the efficiency of N, P, K inorganic fertilizer. Field experiment was conducted at Sawah Baru Research Station, University Farm IPB, Bogor, West Java from September to December 2013. The experiment used Randomized Block Design consisted of two factors: rates of organic fertilizer (0, 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 kg ha-1), and rates of inorganic fertilizer (0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg ha-1). The results suggested that the application of 1,000 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 did not show significant interaction. Application of organic fertilizer alone up to 1,000 kg ha-1 resulted in low growth and yield. Increasing rates of  application up to 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 increased the growth and yield of paddy rice. The highest N efficiency was 89.19% at a rate of 500 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 200 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1, whereas the highest efficiency of P and K, respectively were 69.55% and 92.52% at a rate of 750 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 300 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1.<br />Keywords: NPK, organic fertilizer, paddy rice

       Watermelon come from arid tropical and subtropical regions of Africa. Watermelon is an annual plant that grows and requires full sun. Lebak swamp soil is known to have the properties and properties of acid sulphate soils that affect the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. Fertilizers are the key to soil fertility. Compound fertilizer is a fertilizer that contains several nutrients, for example nutrients (nitrogen), potassium (K) and phosphorus (P). This study aims (i) to obtain influence and (ii) the best dosage of various applications of NPK Compound fertilizer dosage on the growth and yield of watermelon plants on lebak wetland. The study was conducted in Teluk Buluh Village, Banjang District, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency in July - September 2013, this study used a single randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications so that there were 25 experimental units. The factors tested were various doses of Compound NPK fertilizer, namely m1: 0.333 t.ha-1 (200 g / bed), m2: 0.666 t.ha-1 (400 g / bed), m3: 0.999 t.ha-1 ( 600 g / bed), m4: 1,332 t.ha-1 (800 g / bed) and m5: 1,665 t.ha-1 (1000 g / bed). The results of this study indicate that the dosage of Compound NPK fertilizer given to watermelon plants in swampland area had a significant effect on plant length and number of leaves aged 25 HST and 30 HST and had a very significant effect on the fruit weight and number of watermelon plants with the best treatment is  m3: 0.999 t.ha-1 (600 g / bed).

Soybeans become a source of plant protein and an essensial food ingredient in Indonesia. Extreme climate change causes weather changes; the impact is a long dry season which results in drought. Efforts to deal with drought stress are carried out using drought-tolerant soybean varieties that drop of production can be suppressed. The purpose of the study is to study growth responses for several different soybean varieties with drought-stricken conditions. The research was conducted from October 2019 to January 2020 at the Green House Agroecotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Banten. Factorial randomized block design method was then used which consists of two factors and three repetition. The first factor were that the Varieties consists of V1: Argo mulyo variety; V2: Deja 2 and V3 varieties: Dena varieties. The second factor was drought percentage comprising k1: 100% ATT (Groundwater Available); k2: 80% ATT, k3: 60% ATT and k4: 40% ATT. The results showed that differences in varieties and drought stress did not significantly affect the growth and yield of soybean crops. Argo Mulyo varieties are superior to drought stress compared to Deja 2 and Dena varieties from the weight of 100 seeds. No interaction of different soybeans varieties treatment and drought stress on all observation parameters.

This research aims to find the effect of planting distance on the growth and yield of corn plants which were planted with peanut as intercropping plant, and the impact on the yield of peanuts planted as an intercropping plant as well as to know planting distance for corn and peanut. The experimental design used was randomized Block Design with six treatments namely J1; 55 cm x 40 cm, J2; 60 cm x 40 cm, J3; 65 cm x 40 cm, J4; 70 cm x 40 cm, J5; 75 cm x 40 cm, and J6; 80 cm x 40 cm, while peanuts are planted in the central part of the line, and the corns rows are repeated four times so that there are 24 compartments of research. Results of the study indicated that there is a significant effect on the growth and yield of corn at a distance of 75 cm x 40 cm as well as peanuts planted as an intercropping plant with high corn sidelines range from  32,08 – 132,55 cm, a number of leaves revolve around 4.17 – 9.25 strands, leaf area range from 25,84 – 52.80 cm, corncob diameter of 10.09 cm, corncob weight tan-1 171,33 gram ha-1 5,68 ton, dry weight grain of corn  tan-1 80,13 grand ha-1 3,80 ton, as well as the weight of 100 grain of corn is 32,17 gram, whereas number of pods of peanut is 26,63 prolong, pods weight tan-1 88,13 grand ha-1 3,17 ton, dry weight of corn tan-1 31,25 grand ha-1 1,31 ton, and weight of 100 corn grains are 19,22 gram.

Sub-optimal environment condition and the use of low-quality seed tubers is a constraint to increase the yield of potato tubers. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the various applications of mulch and seed tuber G2, G3, local on growth and yield of potato tubers, as well as to temperature and soil moisture. The research was conducted in June-December, 2013 in the highlands (2232.66 m asl) in Village Ranupani, District Senduro, Lumajang, East Java Province. A randomized block design was used with a combination of treatments: without mulch (tm), black plastic mulch silver (mphp), blue plastic mulch (mpb), Chromolaena odorata mulch (mCo) and the mother bulb G2, G3, local. There are 12 combinations of treatment was repeated 3 times. The combination of these treatments consist of: tm+G2, mphp+G2, mpb+G2, mCo+G2, tm+G3, mphp+G3, mpb+G3, mCo+G3, tm+local, mphp+local, mpb+local, mCo+local. Data were analyzed using the F test with a level of 5%. If a significantly different among treatment followed by LSD test 5%. The results showed the use mphp on local seed tubers are able to provide growth and potato tubers yield optimum is 641.76 g plant-1 ( 21.39 t ha-1) compared to other treatments, but the tuber yield did not differ significantly with the use mpb in seed tubers G2.

       Eggplant is one of the vegetables favored by the community. Lebak wetland has the potential for eggplant vegetable cultivation, but the problem with the soil is the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil that are less favorable. Husk serves to loosen the soil so that it can facilitate plant roots to absorb nutrients. This study aims (i) to determine the growth response and yield of eggplant to various doses of rice husk ash in lebak wetland, (ii) to obtain the best dosage of rice husk ash for growth and yield of eggplant on lebak land. This research was conducted in Hambuku Tengah Village, Sungai Pandan Subdistrict, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency from February - May 2010, this study used a single randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications so that 20 experimental units were obtained, each trial unit contained 4 plant. The factor tested was the dose of perpolibag rice husk ash is a0 = 0 or control, a1 = 100 g, a2 = 200 g, a3 = 300 g, and a4 = 400 g. The results showed that giving of rice husk did not affect all variables observed and did not obtain the best dose of dosing treatment for rice husk ash

Knowledge of optimum rates of poultry manure application is of immense significance in the correction of the soil nutrient deficiencies for crop production. Manure application is of importance to both the soil amendment and in the growth and yield of crops. Leaching, pattern of cropping, use of non-certified seeds and non-improved varieties have hampered the efficient growth and yield of okra. The study was conducted to examine the growth and yield responses of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) to poultry manure rates in Rivers State. The research study became imperative to examine how rate of poultry manure could affect the production of okra. The experiment utilized three rates of poultry manure, 0-tons (control), 5-tonsha-1 and 10-tonha-1and the treatment combination arranged in a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) replicated three times. Growth characteristics measured were, plant height, stem thickness, leaf area and number of leaves per plant while yield parameters measured were pod length, seeds per pod, total number of pods, pod yield per hectare. The results revealed that appropriate rate of poultry manure application in the production of okra has the capacity to increase okra growth and yield in Rivers State. The use of 10-tonha-1 of poultry manure performed better than other poultry manure rates and so it’s recommended that okra farmers in the study area should apply 10-tonha-1 for high quality and quantity production of okra in  Rivers State.

Planting shallots in Buahan Village is only carried out once a year, namely in July. The continuous use of synthetic fertilizers at high doses without being balanced with natural fertilizers has degraded the land so that soil fertility has decreased. The negative impact caused is a decrease in the yield of shallots. Quality organic fertilizers can overcome this problem. Organic vermicompost and biosllury fertilizers are quality organic fertilizers that can replace synthetic fertilizers to increase the growth and yield of shallots. The research objective was to determine the growth and yield of shallots by giving the type and dose of organic fertilizers outside the growing season. The research was conducted from March to July 2019 in Buahan Village, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency. The study used a simple randomized block design with one factor with 6 treatments, namely B0 (Without Organic Fertilizer), B1 (2000 kg / ha vermicompost); B2 (1000 L / ha biosllury) B3 (1000kg / ha vermicompost + 500 L / ha biosllury); B4 (4000 kg / ha vermicompost); B5 (2000 L / ha biosllry); B6 (2000kg / ha vermicompost + 1000 L / ha biosllury); B7 (4000 kg / ha vermicompost + 2000L biosllry) and B8 (5000 kg / ha vermicompost + 3000L / ha biosllury). The parameters observed were plant height, number of tillers, tuber wet weight per clump, harvest dry weight of tubers per clump and number of cloves per clump, soil pH, N-total (%), C-organic and total population of soil microorganisms. The results showed that the type and dose of organic fertilizer had a significant effect on all the meters observed. Treatment of 5000 kg / ha vermicompost + 3000L / ha biosllury gave the highest yield, namely 56.8 g per clump, 60% higher than the control 35.5 g per clump.

Intercropping increases in productivity per unit of land via better utilisation of resources, minimises the risks, reduces weed competition and stabilizes the yield. Many intercropping systems have proved to be better than sole crops in terms of yield because intercropping makes better use of one or more agricultural resources both in time and in space. The beneficial effect of pulse crops is improving soil health in the form of biological nitrogen fixation, leaf fall, addition of considerable amount of organic matter through root biomass, improving microbial biomass and they keep soil productive and alive by bringing qualitative changes in physical, chemical and biological properties and sustaining productivity. The principal advantage of intercropping system is the more efficient utilization of soil, water, nutrient and increased productivity compared with each sole crop under rainfed and irrigated ecosystem. Choice of ecologically sound crops as millets and adoption of intercropping systems are two of suitable options for maximization of productivity in drylands cropping system due to the reason that competition of plant could be minimized not only by spatial arrangement, but also by combining those crops which have best able to exploit soil nutrients. A field study was scheduled to estimate the impact of intercropping varagu with greengram and blackgram cropping system under rain-fed situation onleaf area, leaf area index, specific leaf weight, crop growth rate, chlorophyll content, no. of tillers per plant and grain yield at Centre of Excellence in Millets, Athiyandal, Tiruvannamalai. It was done in Kharif, 2018 and 2019. Randomized Block Design was used to conduct this experiment. It has three replications. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare varagu with blackgram and greengram inter cropping effects, as well as reveal which intercrops better adopts to rainfed cropping systems using these parameters to improve water use efficiency in the production. Highest returns were obtained from Sole Varagu with blackgram (1:1) due to greater productivity under this treatment with comparable cost of cultivation.

Ultisols have low soil fertility problems. Beneficial microbes such as biofertilizers could improve soil fertility and the productivity of Ultisols sustainability.  The purpose of this research was to study the contribution of biofertilizers and NPK fertilizers to increase growth and yield of upland rice on Utisols. This experiment used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) in factorial pattern, consisting of  two factors with three replications. The first factor consisted of biofertilizer, which were ; without biofertilizer, biofertilizer consortia A (Pseudomonas mallei, P. cepaceae, Aspergillus niger and Penicillium sp., Azotobacter  chroococum, Azospirillum sp.) biofertilizer consortia B (Azotobacter choroococum, A. viilandii, Azospirillum, Pseudomonas cepaceae, Penicillium and Acitenobacter) and biofertizer consortia A+B. The second factor were NPK fertilizers with four levels ( 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% dosage of recomendation). The results showed that the application of  biofertilizer consortia increased growth of upland rice on Ultisols Jatinangor
