Purpose:- Talented employees are one of the sources that enable the organizations to achieve competitive advantage. However, considering the globalization and hyper-competition in today’s business environment, organizations are facing many challenges including engaging and sustaining talented and skilled employees. Thus, the purpose of this - quantitative, correlational, descriptive and cross-sectional study is to understand the relationship between talent mindset (TM) and organizational commitment components (i.e., affective, normative and continuance) of employees in Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach: The researcher used the quantitative research approach and employed survey based method, using structured verified questionnaires, to collect data from 300 employees (i.e., principals, vice-principals, the chairman, head of the departments and administrative staff) in educational institutions (i.e., privates sector colleges) in two cities (Bahawalpur and Haroonabad) of the Punjab province of Pakistan.   Findings: Results confirmed that there is a positive and significant relationship between talent mindset and components of organizational commitment.   Practical Implications/Limitations: This study has considerable importance, because it provided insights regarding the relationship between dimensions of OC with talent mindset by focusing on employees in the services sector of Pakistan. It is also useful as it provided guidelines regarding how the commitment of employees in educational institutions can be enhanced through designing appropriate strategies and frameworks accordingly. In terms of limitations, the present study had small sample size, and focused on employees in services sector in a specific region. Originality/value: Most of the studies investigating the relationship between TM and dimensions of OC were conducted in the western context and focused on non-services sector. While, this study focused on services sector in non-western context to further the understanding of relationship between talent mindset and components of organizational commitment of employees in educational institutions in Pakistan.

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to comprehensively understand the determinants who affect the customer intention to complain to firm through an integrated model and also the effect of those determinants on the complaint intention and the relationship of those intentions with the complaining behavior.Design/Approach/Methodology: A quantitative research method was used based on self administered questionnaire with a sample size of 171 participants collected by using convenience sample and the results were tested through regression analysis.Findings/Results: The results shows that the complaining intention and attitude towards complaint have a significant relationship with complaining behavior while prior experience and controllability to complain have an insignificant relationship with complaining behavior. Attitude towards complaint and perceived possibility of success have a significant relationship with intention to complain. The antecedent prior experience has a significant relationship with perceived possibility of success and an insignificant relationship with attitude towards complaint. The variable controllability to complaint has a significant relationship with both perceived possibility of success and attitude towards complaint while Perceived alienation has a significant relationship with perceived possibility of success but insignificant relationship with attitude towards complaint.Limitations and recommendations: This study is conducted on a small level with small sample size. Due to which there are some insignificant relationships which can be prove as significant relationship if the sample size is large. A limited number of variables are discussed in this article. Other researchers can elaborate other variables affecting complaining behavior e.g. word of mouth, level of dissatisfaction etc.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide the initial evidence of the relationship between the community and public-private partnership (PPP) projects by focusing on community engagement, trust and performance. Design/methodology/approach This study is cross sectional and correlational and it uses project level data that were collected by means of a questionnaire from a sample of 47 PPP projects in Uganda. Findings Results indicate that trust and community engagement are significantly associated with the performance of PPP projects. Research limitations/implications This study was cross-sectional, and thus monitoring changes in behaviour over time was not possible. The study used a quantitative research approach and this limits respondents from expressing their feelings fully. The study was conducted in Uganda and it is possible that the results of this study can be generalized to developing countries with environments similar to that of Uganda. Practical implications The results are important for PPP projects to understand the role that trust and community engagement play in as far as the performance of PPP projects is concerned. Originality/value Whilst there have been a number of studies on the performance of PPP projects, this study provides initial empirical evidence on the influence of trust and community engagement on the performance of PPP projects using evidence from PPP projects of an African developing economy – Uganda.

PurposeThe relationship between the shortage of chefs for the hospitality industry in Ireland and the lack of uptake for chef apprenticeship is an underexplored topic. This study investigates attitudes to chef training and chef apprenticeship among industry representatives and second-level students.Design/methodology/approachUsing a mixed method approach, the qualitative research comprised of in-depth interviews conducted with key experts in the industry and from the educational sector. The quantitative research approach comprised of questionnaires conducted with second-level students.FindingsThe research results found that there is a stigma attached to chef apprenticeships, and this is part of the reason that the apprenticeship has low uptake. However, it was also found that working conditions in the industry were a real concern.Research limitations/implicationsThis is an exploratory study with a small sample of interviewees and survey respondents. However, it is a first step towards understanding some of the key issues relating to low uptake for chef apprenticeship.Practical implicationsAccess for second-level students to information regarding the benefits of a chef apprenticeship is lacking. It is necessary to convince students that an apprenticeship is as beneficial as a degree. Training for career guidance councillors is needed.Originality/valueThere is a dearth of research on the low uptake to chef apprenticeship. Research is recommended into how to re-brand chef apprenticeship.

This study explored the relationship between effort-reward imbalance (ERI) at work and work productivity among hotel housekeepers. A community-based approach was used to recruit 23 hotel housekeepers who completed the ERI and Work Performance Questionnaires. Work productivity was determined by combining self-report absenteeism and presenteeism. More than 40% of the participants reported high ERI (ERI >1). Also, 59.1% reported low work productivity. Interestingly, despite the individualized high reports of ERI and low work productivity, correlation analysis showed that high ERI was correlated with high presenteeism and work productivity as a whole. This is the first study to explore work productivity among this worker group. Despite the small sample size and the cross-sectional nature of the study, this study points to the need for organization-based interventions to not only improve employee health but also their work productivity.

Purpose This study aims to examine the effect of organizational justice (OJ) delivery on organizational commitment (OC) while controlling variables that potentially confound this effect. These confound variable includes gender, education and tenure. Design/methodology/approach A causal quantitative field research and a cross-sectional research approach are used. A structured questionnaire is used to collect data from 463 randomly sampled employees of 13 commercial banks in Koforidua, Ghana. Structural equation modelling is used to analyze the data. Findings The study establishes that a statistically significant effect is made by OJ delivery on OC (p < 0.0001), even after controlling for the effects of gender, education and tenure. The model used also fits the data collected considerably (i.e. χ2 = 0.258; p-value = 0.611). Thus, the relationship between OJ and OC is not confounded by how long the employee has served on the job or by the highest educational level of employees. However, this relationship was significantly confounded by gender on the basis of sharing significant covariance with them. Originality/value Even though studies exist generally on OJ and OC, the focus on Ghana and banks in particular have been skeletal and have ended in testing just the relationship without highlighting the role of confounding variables as done in this study. Apart from adding to extant literature, findings will also inform decision-making on strategies and policies to improve OJ and ultimately the employee commitment that comes with.

Performance appraisal system is of important apprehension of any organization while administrating its human resources. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the performance appraisal system for teachers in private schools and elaborate the problems align with this system. The Educators School has been taken as a case study. A quantitative research approach has been applied which consist on a self administered questionnaire to get primary data for exploring different parts of current performance appraisal system and perceptions of teachers regarding performance appraisal approaches in their school. Research results shows that The Educators School is using performance appraisal system that is closely related with traditional ACR (Annual Confidential Report) conducted annually. This study is conducted on a small level only on one franchise of the school system with small sample size. Researchers suggest that school administration should provide continuous feedback to their teachers and a solution to overcome their weaknesses and this system should only be used for performance improvement purpose.

Purpose This paper aims to analyze the relationship between organizational culture (measured by mission, involvement, consistency, adaptability and well-being), employee organizational commitment and employee innovation in the Vietnamese IT industry. Design/methodology/approach This is a quantitative research using perceptual scale questionnaire survey developed based on the literature review and in-depth expert interviews. A total of 319 IT professionals working in Vietnam participated in the survey. The data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Findings The results suggest that overall organizational culture and organizational commitment are positively and significantly related to employee innovation. A closer look reveals that out of the organizational culture’s five dimensions, mission, adaptability and well-being are found specifically and significantly related to employee innovation. Research limitations/implications The study used a cross-sectional survey where case studies of longitudinal study may add more insight. Further, the Denison organizational culture survey instrument might be subjective. Finally, there may be also some moderating or mediating effects that are not taken into account in this study. Practical implications The enhancement of adaptability, well-being, mission and commitment can increase employee innovation in the IT industry. Originality/value This paper contributes to the literature and practice by demonstrating the relationship between corporate culture and organizational commitment on employee innovation in a developing country (i.e. Vietnam).

Boredom is a well-researched concept in various contexts; nonetheless, there is scarceness of research related to the relationship of boredom with reading comprehension performance in EFL context. Therefore, this study intends to determine the connection between reading boredom and reading comprehension performance by employing reading boredom coping strategies as a mediator. A quantitative research approach, and a cross-sectional and correlational research design was employed to conduct this study. Questionnaires and a reading comprehension test were used to collect data from 306 Saudi EFL students. Findings indicated that reading boredom showed a significant but negative relationship with reading comprehension performance. Also, reading boredom was positively and significantly related to reading boredom coping strategies. Moreover, reading boredom coping strategies showed a positive and significant relationship with reading comprehension performance. Lastly, findings indicated that reading boredom coping strategies mediated the association between reading boredom and reading comprehension performance. On the basis of aforementioned findings, numerous recommendations for EFL students, teachers, and policymakers were offered.

Job stress is a physical and emotional disturbance as a result of a mismatch between capability, resources or the needs of workers coming from the worker's environment. Job stress is one of the most important issues discussed in the world of health, as some studies found its impacts on workers and productivity. To reduce the incidence of this work stress one of the Health Safety Environment (HSE) program was created. One of the Health Safety Environment (HSE) program which applied by Sakinah Supermarket is Islamic job music. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between Islamic music work with the incidence of job stress at Sakinah Supermarket. Quantitative research approach with cross sectional research design. The population in this research consist 68 workers, where research sample counted 40 workers. The variables studied were acceptance of Islamic music work and stressful work events. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire modification of the NIOSH Job Generic Stress Questionnaire. To test the relationship between variables Spearman correlation test used. The result of the research shows that workers' acceptance on Islamic music work in the high category (52.5%) is very high (45%) and the incidence of work stress does not exist where majority of respondents are in light work stress category (72.5%). Based on the Spearman correlation test the relationship between the two significant variables.Keywords: HSE program, islamic job music, job stress

Researchers paid ample attention to an important variable called boredom in numerous contexts; however, limited research exists regarding the association of boredom with listening comprehension performance in EFL settings. Thus, the current study aims to establish the association between listening boredom and listening comprehension performance by deploying listening boredom coping strategies as a mediating construct. A quantitative research approach, and a cross-sectional and correlational research design was used to conduct this study. A listening comprehension test and questionnaires were used to gather the data from 313 Saudi EFL learners. Results directed that there exists a negative yet significant association between listening boredom and listening comprehension performance. In addition, listening boredom showed a positive and significant association with all of the four listening boredom coping strategies. Furthermore, three out of four listening boredom coping strategies (i.e., behavioral, cognitive, and behavioral avoidance) showed a positive and significant association with listening performance; however, cognitive avoidance strategies showed a significant yet negative association with listening comprehension performance. Lastly, results regarding mediation indicated that listening boredom coping strategies mediated the relationship between listening boredom and listening comprehension performance. Based on the results, various recommendations were presented to EFL learners, instructors, and policymakers.
