School readiness involves readiness in terms of ability to reading, writing and use numbers along with emotional and psychological readiness to make successful entry to formal schooling. It has been established that academic readiness is the most important component of school readiness. The present study was aimed to assess the knowledge of rural and urban government school teachers of Ludhiana regarding developmental readiness. The study was based on 100 teachers (i.e. 50 rural and 50 urban) teaching Class – I. The sample was selected from seven Government Primary Schools purposively selected from rural as well as urban locales of Ludhiana District. Self- Structured Teachers’ Knowledge Questionnaire was used to assess the academic readiness of rural and urban government school children. The questionnaire comprised of five open ended questions relating to academic readiness expected to be achieved by students of Class-I. The comparison between knowledge levels of rural and urban teachers revealed that urban teachers had better knowledge than rural teachers. Teachers play an important role in building a child’s success in their first years of school. They provide structure and help children grow in their pre-reading and pre-writing skills, teach pre-arithmetical skills and help children understand themselves.

Aim of the research is to find out the Psychological Well-being among School teachers. So investigator selected two groups one is government school teachers  and other is  non government school teachers, both groups have 400 persons. In one group has 200 and other one groups has 200 persons. The all subjects were randomly selected. Data were collected from Ahmadabad district. Scale was use for data collection is personal datasheet and Psychological Well-being scale developed by Bhogale and Prakash (1995), and data were analysis by “f” test. Result show, There is no significant difference between the psychological well-being of government and non government school teachers. There is no significant difference between the psychological well-being of male and female and urban and rural area.

ABSTRACT Objectives To assess the oral health status and treatment needs among Government and Private primary school teachers in Mathura city. Materials and Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted upon 650 primary school teachers who were randomly selected from the 5 zones of Mathura city. The oral health status and treatment needs were recorded using standard WHO proforma 1997 (modified). Results The mean DMFT was found to be higher in Government school teachers than the Private school teachers. It was seen that among Government school teachers, 12.6 percent and among the Private school teachers 18.5 percent had healthy periodontal tissue (code 0). Majority of the school teachers both from Government and Private schools showed the prevalence of shallow pockets. Conclusion In conclusion the results of the study showed the increased prevalence of gum diseases, periodontitis and dental caries in Government schoolteachers as compared to Private schoolteachers. Regular dental check- ups and practice of routine oral hygiene procedures will enable them to lead a healthier life.

Teaching is being considered as one of the noblest profession since ancient times. With the changing socio-economic scenario and increasing unemployment, the values of teachers’ and their professional concern with the job have forcibly undergone a drastic change which adversely affects their mental health. The level of mental health of a teacher has been found affected with numerous personal as well as professional demands. Health of teachers, on social, physical and mental health domains adds to the efficiency not only to their professional growth and development but also to their personality. Moreover, they have also been considered as the constructors of the future of a country. Keeping these facts into the consideration, present study aimed to access the level of personal mental health of school teachers, particularly those who work in the public sector schools. Survey method has been employed and Mental Health Index (MHI) was used for collecting the data. 100 secondary and higher secondary school teachers were included in the study. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and to find the differences for gender and locations t- test was applied. The t-values reveals that significant gender differences exist among government school teachers and male school teachers were found better on mental health than their female counterparts. Additionally, teachers posted at schools located under urban area were found higher on mental health as compared to teaches posted at schools located under rural areas.

So investigator selected two groups one is government school teachers and other is non government school teachers, both groups have 400 persons. Scale was use for data collection is personal datasheet and Insecurity scale developed by Indian Adaption of Maslow’s security insecurity feeling inventory constructed and standardized Tasmeen Nagvi, and data were analysis by “F” test. Result show, There is no significant difference between the Insecurity of government and non government school teachers. There is no significant difference between the Insecurity of male and female and urban and rural area.

Background: Burnout syndrome is an emerging occupational phenomenon which makes employees to feel exhausted or less interested on their job with a diminished outcome. Teaching is considered one such stressful occupation. So, this study was conducted to assess the magnitude of burnout among school teachers of Tamil Nadu and to determine the various factors contributing to burnout syndrome.Methods: Descriptive survey method was employed for the present study. A sample of 251 government school teachers was taken by using convenient sampling technique. Teachers’ burnout scale by Gupta and Rani was used to collect the data. The obtained data was statistically analysed using one-way ANOVA.Results: The magnitude of burnout was not high in government school teachers. However, the factors like working in high school, urban school, having spouse as a teacher, chronic illness and increased travel time to school, were found to be associated with higher burn out.Conclusions: Teachers have direct interaction with the students, shared responsibility with colleagues, adjusting with institutional conditions and handling various tasks and challenges put them at a high stress. Health system of India is having many health programmes in schools which are related student’s health but the teacher’s health is left behind. Screening teachers for stress, burnout and other occupational psychosocial hazard will help them improving their life and student’s education.
