This study aims to analyze the morphological processes occupied in place-naming of Kecamatan in Bandung and attempts to classify the place-naming of Kecamatan in Bandung based on toponymy rules by Nash (2015). Descriptive qualitative research design was employed in this study. The investigation of thirty names of Kecamatan in Bandung shows that there are only three types of morphological process in naming Kecamatan in Bandung. They are compounding, borrowing and blending. In term of toponymy rules, the patterns are various in each morphological process: (1) A Single (Proper) Noun; (2) Two Nouns: (Generic) Noun + (Proper) Noun; and (3) (Proper) Noun + Adjective.

The swift flow of globalization has led to increasingly eroded Indonesian local culturalvalues. This has caused a shift in neglected cultural values and local wisdom. Therefore,an approach is needed, namely ethnoscience in the learning process. This studypurposed to determine whether The Elementary School of Muhammadiyah Alam SuryaMentari has applied ethnoscience in science learning and describe the implementationof ethnoscience based on science learning in The Elementary School of MuhammadiyahAlam Surya Mentari.The method used was descriptive qualitative research design. Theresults of the study showed that the planning of science learning based on ethnoscienceapproach in This School was still unplanned, but the school had unconsciously implementedethnoscience approach. The implementation of science based on ethnosciencelearning was by integrating between the material with the environment, culture, and socialin the environment. Evaluation of the implementation of ethnoscience based on sciencelearning included cognitive, affective, and psychomotor evaluation in accordance withevaluation standards in the 2013 curriculum.

The objective of this study is to describe teaching and learning poetry meaning activities of Buya Hamka by using jigsaw technique in STKIP PGRI Pasuruan. This study focused on the descriptive qualitative research design. The results of the observation show that the teaching and learning activities by using jigsaw technique run effectively and efficiently. It enables the students get a lot of knowledge and perspective of Buya Hamka poem from their interaction process. They discuss, share, and contribute knowledge each other with the teacher’s facilitations. As the result, they get a lot of information of Buya Hamka poem meaning from their home and expert groups.

The aim of the research is to find out endophoric references in Mark Zuckerberg biography and the relationship between discourse analysis and pragmatic. The research used descriptive qualitative research design. The data obtained from Mark Zuckerberg biography written by the biography website. The data are analyzed using Halliday & Hasan’s theory (1976) of reference cohesion reference is one of the cohesive devices. The result shows that endophoric reference exists in Mark Zuckerberg biography endophoric. Endophoric consist of two types, the first is anaphoric and the second is cataphoric. In this research there are five type cohesive devices that are usually used in texts like substitution, references, ellipsis, lexical cohesion, and conjunctions. In the research found that cataphoric is dominant than anaphoric because the subject is located in the beginning of the sentences. Cohesive devices not only focused on lexical cohesion, but also focused on ellipsis and substitution and reference.

This study aimed to investigate the types of deixis used in the song lyrics of One Direction, to find out the dominant types used and to describe the semantic meaning of the deixis. The song lyrics are associated with deixis since they express the singer’s or song writer’s feelings or emotions represented by some expressions of human thoughts, ideas and opinions. This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative research design. The data were obtained from five songs of One Direction entitled Up All Night, Change My Mind, Everything about You, Little Things, and Right Now. Three types of deixis were found in the five songs and there were 108 deixis found in the lyrics. Person deixis was investigated as the most dominant type used in the lyrics. Semantics is a branch of linguistics. This branch is important as semantics is related to meanings and without meanings, communication could not function. There are lexical and contextual meanings. By listening to songs, we can gain knowledge of how to appreciate literature and songs. Therefore, the researcher was interested in analyzing the meanings of the Indonesian song Terserah by Willy Winarko, which is a viral song focused on COVID-19. This study aimed to analyze the lexical and contextual meanings in the lyrics of this song. A descriptive qualitative research design was used. The results of this research were as follows: (1) the lexical meanings in the song are different from those in the context; and (2) the contextual meanings are oriented to the situation of COVID-19. The objectives of this research were to find out the naturalness of English short story translation into Indonesian and to find out the accuracy of English short story translation into Indonesian. This research employed descriptive qualitative research design which conducted at the second year students of  MTsN 1 Makassar in academic years 2017/2018 . The researcher used purposive sampling technique by taking one class from the twelve classes. The researcher chooses class VIII-11 which consisted of 40 students. The data were collected using document by translation text and interview. The results showed that the naturalness and accuracy of students’ translation of short story entitled The Proud Lion gained score 7-8 with classification “almost completely successful” from 30 students. And 10 students gained score 5-6 with classification “adequate”. It was caused by wrong choice of words and they were still less in selecting the indicated meaning so that their translation sound strange, unnatural, inaccuracy for the readers.

The researcher aimed to conduct this research due particular in students reading comprehension at Mts N Ganting Padang Panjang. The researcher found the problems that first, students interest in reading a text was still lacking. Second, students still have difficulty in reading comprehension. Third, students had a lack of vocabularies in translating the meaning of the word. Therefore, this research is to know how the teacher applies the ESA technique on reading comprehension. The research aimed to analyze teacher apply ESA technique on reading comprehension. This research used a descriptive qualitative research design. The object of this research were two English teachers in Mts N Ganting Padang Panjang. The instruments of this research were questionnaire and interview. The result of the research showed that ESA technique is suitable and effective for reading comprehension that can be seen from teacher apply ESA technique on reading comprehension. Engage, in this elements the teacher motivate students and active their background knowledge. The study, in this elements teacher, focus on the topic in the text and guide students in understanding the content of the text. Activate, in this elements teacher gives exercises and assignment to students, then concludes the contents of the text that has been learned.

Pronunciation is one of the key factors in communication. The different pronunciation or different sounds will cause different meanings. It is known that the sound of English vowels and consonants are so much different from Indonesian vowels and consonants. A slip of pronunciation might occur and cause listeners misunderstand the message.This study is aimed at finding the pronunciation errors and the factors contributing to the pronunciation errors made by the EFL student teachers in speech performance.A descriptive qualitative research design was used. The data were collected through document analysis and interview. The result of the study shows that there were 79 errors found, meanwhile the factors contributing to the students’ pronunciations consists of  internal external factors.

This research attempted to find out the word formation processes of slang words found in the lyrics of Drake’s songs. This research applied descriptive qualitative research design. The theory of the 18 word formation processes based on the synthesized theories from Yule (2010), Mattielo (2008), O’Grady, Aronoff, & Dobrovolsky (1997) were used as guidelines. This study found out that there were 190 slang words existing in the lyrics of the songs. They were respectively categorized into clipping (27%), coinage (25%), multiple process (22%), compounding (18%), reduplicatives (2%), variation (2%), borrowing (1%), blending (1%), acronym and initialism (1%), reversed forms (0.5%), and onomatopoeia (0.5%).

This research aims to discuss the morphological process of Bugis language during the period of the seventh king of Bone kingdom. Data of this research is a work of literature from Bone kingdom titled Latoa. This research is descriptive qualitative involving the word-structure rules which attempt to analyze words presented in Latoa. The results show that there are some features marking morphological processes of Bugis language in the sixteenth century. The morphological processes consist of reduplication and affixation. processes of reduplication of Bugis' language are divided into two patterns, those are the reduplication of entire stem and affixing reduplication. Where affixation of Bugis language expresses derivational meanings and inflectional values; the forms of prefixes that are derived from derivational processes are to-, ri- whereas the form of suffixes derived from derivational processes are i, -e, -reng, and na and the form of suffixes expressing inflectional values is na.
