The development of pain is associated with numerous physiological mechanisms. Improper acute pain treatment significantly reduces the quality of life and leads to a number of physiological changes that adversely affect the general condition of the patient. In many cases, inadequate analgesic therapy results in the transition from acute to chronic pain. For this reason, it is extremely important to use drugs that synergistically affect various pain mechanisms. Combined preparations, including the combination of tramadol and dexketoprofen, are very effective. This combination has many advantages, including proven efficacy and tolerability, ensures better treatment adherence and is easy to administer.

Objective Explore the impact of personalized nursing services and hospice care on the quality of life of elderly patients with advanced cancer. Method We selected 80 elderly cancer patients admitted to our hospital from September 2020 to May 2021, and divided these patients into a study group and a control group using a random number table method. The patients in the control group used conventional nursing methods to treat and care for the patients, and the patients in the study group used hospice care measures and combined personalized nursing measures. The quality of life and pain treatment effects of the two groups of patients before and after treatment were compared. Result Before treatment, the quality-of-life scores of the two groups of patients were low, and there was no statistical difference (P>0.05); After treatment, the quality of life of the two groups of patients improved, but compared with the control group, the improvement was more obvious in the study group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). In terms of pain treatment effect, the total effective rate of pain treatment in the study group was 87.5%, which was significantly better than the 62.5% in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Personalized nursing services and hospice care are conducive to improving the survival and treatment of elderly patients with advanced cancer, and can be used as a clinical application program for the care of advanced cancer patients.

<b><i>Background:</i></b> As the number of allergic sensitizations increases the severity of allergic respiratory diseases worsens. Multiple monoallergen immunotherapy can be accompanied by poor treatment adherence and high costs, single multiallergen immunotherapy needs to prove efficacy whilst maintaining a good safety profile. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> Observational, retrospective, multicenter study using a 2-pollen single undiluted multiallergen subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) in routine clinical practice in Spain. Patients with rhinoconjunctivitis, with/without controlled asthma, sensitized to grass, olive, Parietaria, Cupressus, plane tree and/or Salsola pollen were included. Primary and secondary clinical efficacy endpoints were quality of life (mini Rhinitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (miniRQLQ)) and visual analogue scale (VAS) respectively. All adverse events were documented. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Ten centers included 97 patients, median age 32 years. SCIT treatment included combinations of grass mix with olive, Parietaria, Cupressus, plane tree or Salsola or olive with Parietaria, Cupressus or Salsola. The mean duration of SCIT was 1.8 years with a high treatment adherence (73%). Significant improvement in quality of life, nasal and ocular symptoms, activity limitations and practical problems (<i>p</i>&#x3c; 0.0001) and other symptoms (<i>p</i>= 0.024) was observed. Most patients did not develop asthma-like symptoms and a significant improvement of all allergic symptom severity was perceived. VAS showed a significant improvement in rhinoconjunctivitis and asthma by patients and physicians. Twenty-nine patients experienced adverse reactions, 25 had local and 6 had systemic reactions. <b><i>Conclusions:</i></b> Single undiluted multiallergen SCIT treatment of two different pollens is efficacious and safe in both children and adults, showing that it is a suitable option for the treatment of polyallergic patients.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF), also known as Mucoviscidosis, is a chronic disease of autosomal recessive origin and so far incurable. This analysis considers some characteristics of patients and family members that indicate it is a stigmatizing disease. The CF stigma’s impact on the lives of children and adolescents can affect treatment adherence, socialization, family relationships and the formation of their life histories, with direct consequences on their quality of life.

Abstract Herpes zoster is a common acute viral infection caused by reactivation of Varicella-Zoster virus. Acute pain of herpes zoster lowers the quality of life and interferes with day to day activities. We report a case of herpes zoster in a 68 year old, healthy male patient in which the prodromal symptoms started as toothache. This case highlights the importance of a thorough dental history and examination in patients with toothache.

Objective. To perform a systematic evaluation of the efficacy and safety of combined treatment of Shenmai injection and chemotherapy for lung cancer. Methods. A literature search for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) describing the treatment of lung cancer by Shenmai injection and chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone was performed using the PubMed, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Value In Paper (VIP), China BioMed, and Wanfang databases. The databases were searched for entries published before September 1, 2019. Results. Thirty-seven RCTs, comprising a total of 2808 cases, were included in the present meta-analysis. Of these, 1428 cases were treated by Shenmai injection plus chemotherapy, and 1380 cases were treated only by chemotherapy. The results of meta-analysis showed that the combined treatment (Shenmai injection plus chemotherapy) increased the short-term efficacy of treatment (relative risk [RR] = 1.183, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.043–1.343, P < 0.01 ) and improved patients’ quality of life (RR = 1.514, 95%CI = 1.211–1.891, P < 0.01 ) compared with chemotherapy alone. With regard to the adverse effects, the combined treatment markedly reduced the incidence of white blood cell (WBC) reduction (RR = 0.846, 95%CI = 0.760–0.941, P < 0.01 ), platelet reduction (RR = 0.462, 95% CI = 0.330–0.649, P < 0.01 ), and hemoglobin reduction (RR = 0.462, 95% CI = 0.330–0.649, P < 0.01 ) and alleviated drug-induced liver injury (RR = 0.677, 95%CI = 0.463–0.990, P < 0.05 ). However, it did not offer a significant protective effect (RR = 0.725, 95%CI = 0.358–1.468, P < 0.05 ). The effect of the combined treatment on the occurrence of vomiting was considerable (RR = 0.889, 95%CI = 0.794–0.996, P < 0.05 ), and the combined treatment markedly increased the immunity of patients with lung cancer. Conclusion. The combined treatment of Shenmai injection plus chemotherapy enhanced the short-term efficacy of chemotherapy, improved the patient quality of life, alleviated the adverse effects of chemotherapeutics, and increased the patient immunity. These results should be confirmed by large-scale, high-quality RCTs.

The aim: About 10% of socially active women of reproductive age suffer from endometriosis, is determined by the frequent occurrence of menstrual and reproductive functions disorders, and pelvic pain syndrome in patients. The difficulties of therapeutic treatment of chronic pain syndrome in external genital endometriosis (EGE) are associated with polymorphism of pain mechanisms, and delayed diagnosis and treatment. The aim of the study is to improve the effectiveness of the treatment of external genital endometriosis. Material and methods: We examined 60 female patients of reproductive age, 40 – with histologically verified diagnosis of external genital endometriosis and 20 healthy women. We used the following methods of examination: general clinical, instrumental, endoscopic, morphological, the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to quantify pain, the Beck Depression Scale and the SF-36 questionnaire. Results: Before the treatment of patients with EGE, VAS scale scores indicated pain in 100% of patients, the indicators of depression and level of anxiety go beyond the normative. The results of the pre-treatment questionnaire indicated lower quality of life scores on the scales of physical and mental health components. As a result of treatment there was significant decrease in the manifestations of pain, depression and anxiety, with women receiving complex therapy (hormone therapy got antidepressants and non-drug correction methods). Сonclusions: Chronic pelvic pain syndrome associated with EGE and accompanied by an unfavorable psychological state, depressive states, anxiety symptoms, and psychosomatic disorders. New approaches to the treatment of clinical manifestations of EGE are needed, taking into account patients’ psycho-emotional status and the life quality analysis. We pathogenetically justified the use of drugs that affect the psychosomatic status of patients with EGE and showed that they could significantly improve the quality of life.
