The hypothesis was that sex and race will affect interracial dating preferences, one aspect of social distance. 64 subjects were selected from two different populations, 32 from New Jersey and 32 from Mississippi, to increase the external validity by using a more heterogeneous sample. An interracial dating-preference questionnaire was formulated and an item analysis was done to establish content validity. A 2-way analysis of variance showed sex and race were significant; blacks and black women in particular were more apt to prefer interracial dating.

Abstract Objective: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the free oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) adherence questionnaire among patients with sexually transmitted infection who do not have HIV infection in Shanghai. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study among 816 patients from sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinics in Shanghai. The questionnaire included self-reported demographic characteristics, items on adherence to free oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and PrEP uptake behavior measurement. Item analysis was carried out by calculating the critical ratio and item-total correlations. Internal consistency and split-half reliability were measured to assess reliability. Content validity, construct validity, convergent validity and discriminant validity were measured to assess validity. We conducted logistic regression with receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis to assess the predictive value of the adherence questionnaire for PrEP uptake behavior. Results: All items were considered acceptable in the item analysis (P<0.05). The questionnaire had a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.757 and split-half reliability of 0.633. The scale-level content validity index (CVI) was 0.938 and the item-level CVI of each item ranged from 0.750 to 1. In exploratory factor analysis, we introduced a four-factor model accounting for 79.838% of the aggregate variance with all factors loading more than 0.4, which was validated in confirmatory factor analysis (c2=47.1, degrees of freedom=14, root mean square error of approximation=0.078). According to regression analysis, adding PrEP adherence questionnaire scores contributed to prediction of PrEP uptake behavior (P<0.001). The maximum area under the ROC curve was 0.778 (95% confidence interval: 0.739–0.817), corresponding to a cutoff score of 9.Conclusion: The PrEP adherence questionnaire generally has acceptable reliability and validity. This questionnaire can be used as a tool to evaluate PrEP adherence in patients with STI who do not have HIV infection.

Attitude is defined as the degree of encouraging or depressing feeling of the farmers towards natural farming. Attitude is a way of thinking, acting or feeling of a person towards a situation or cause. It is the accepted fact that an attitude of an individual plays an important role in determining one’s behaviour. Keeping this in view, a standardized scale had been developed to measure the attitude of farmers towards natural farming. A summated (likert) rating scale had been developed. The process started with identifying the dimension, collection of items followed by relevancy and item analysis, checking the reliability and validity for precision and consistency of the results. A total of 45 statements were framed and in which, 19 statements had finally retained which has practical applicability in measuring the attitude of farmers towards natural farming. The scale was containing a total of nineteen statements, out of which thirteen are positive and six statements are negative. The split half method developed by Brown Prophecy was employed to measure the reliability. The reliability coefficient (0.79) and content validity also worked, indicating higher reliability and validity of the scale. Hence, the same would be used elsewhere by any investigator

This is a quantitative study of imagery in ninety-six undergraduates, addressing the problem of individual differences in the characteristics of mental imagery workspaces. A 20-item questionnaire embodying nine characteristics of mental imagery workspaces was administered to seventy-eight females and twenty males. Item analysis employed an SPSS computer statistical package, including: 1) frequency distribution for each item and 2) analysis of variance using F tests for the variable of gender. ANOVA by gender disclosed statistically significant higher frequency of mental imagery workspaces reported within the thinking of males than of females. Characteristics of imagery reported by subjects include presence or absence of mental imagery, color, black and white, movement, images of numerals, ability to control the onset and erasure of the mental imagery workspace and use of imagery to do mathematics. Reliability analysis for the sum of all items on the questionnaire developed by the researcher produced a coefficient Alpha of .743. Main finding is that there are statistically significant differences among individuals in the characteristics of their mental imagery, with males reporting significantly greater frequency of imagery workspaces.

Abstract BackgroundEpilepsy is one of the most common chronic neurological diseases that adversely impact the quality of life of patients and their families. The 16-item measure of the Quality of Life Childhood Epilepsy Questionnaire (QOLCE-16) was designed to assess health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among children with epilepsy. The purpose of the study was to translate and evaluate psychometric properties of the QOLCE-16.MethodsThe 10 steps of Principles of Good Practices for translation and cultural adaptation of measures were adopted to translate the QOLCE-16 into Chinese. After that, item analysis, internal consistency, test-retest reliabilities, content validity and construct validity were conducted to test its applicability in children with epilepsy under the culture of China.ResultsA total of 414 objects were enrolled in our study. The results of item analysis showed the QOLCE-16-C had good discrimination, and each item was significantly related to the total scale (P<0.001). The Cronbach’s α value was 0.938 and the Test-retest reliability was 0.724. For validity, results showed that the QOLCE-16-C had good content validity. Exploratory factor analysis indicated it was reasonable that the QOLCE-16-C consists of four dimensions after rotation. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated good validity (χ2/df = 1.698, GFI = 0.913, CFI = 0.974, RMSEA = 0.058).ConclusionThe Chinese version of QOLCE-16-C appears to be a culturally appropriate, valid and reliable tool to assess the health-related quality of life of children with epilepsy in China.

This study aimed at examining the quality of an English summative test of grade VII in a public school located in Kupang. Particularly, this study examined content validity, reliability, and conducted item analysis including item validity, item difficulty, item discrimination, and distracter effectiveness. This study was descriptive evaluative research with documentation to collect data. The data was analyzed quantitatively except for content validity, which was done qualitatively. Content validity was analyzed by matching the test items with materials stated in the curriculum. The findings revealed that the English summative test had a high content validity. The reliability was estimated by applying the Kuder-Richardson’s formula (K-R20). The result showed that the test was reliable and very good for a classroom test. The item analysis was conducted by using ITEMAN 3.0. and it revealed that the the test was mostly constructed by easy items, most of the items could discriminate the students, most distracters were able to perform well, and the most of items were valid.
