Effects of Sex and Reminder Notes on Compliance by Volunteer Subjects
Keyword(s):
In rural areas where subjects are few the use of any incentive or method to increase participation is of concern. The present study investigated whether reminder notes would increase the appearance of volunteer subjects for psychological experiments. A total of 266 subjects were recruited, 133 received reminder notes, and 133 did not. A multiple regression analysis yielded no significant effects for reminder notes (tabs) or interaction of reminder notes by sex, but a significant effect for sex (women appeared more than men). The sex of the volunteer subjects was more important in determining appearance for the study than reminder notes.
