Scales were developed to measure the tendencies to blame AIDS victims or the society in which victims live. Data from a sample of 874 students were used to examine the construct validity and reliability of the scales. The list-wise deletion reduced the sample size to the usable sample size of 824. The data showed satisfactory validity and reliability of the scales so they may be used to study attitudes toward those who are suffering from AIDS and related problems.

The Ohwaki-Kohs Tactile Block Design Test for the Blind was administered to 147 white blind children, 91 boys and 56 girls with an age range of 5 to 19 yr., for the purpose of ascertaining the validity and reliability of the test. The test satisfied certain basic requirements with regard to test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and construct validity.

Purpose The authors provide a review of the psychometric properties of 6 norm-referenced tests designed to measure children's phonological error patterns. Three aspects of the tests' psychometric adequacy were evaluated: the normative sample, reliability, and validity. Method The specific criteria used for determining the psychometric adequacy of these tests were based on current recommendations in the literature. Test manuals and response forms were reviewed for psychometric adequacy according to these criteria. Results The tests included in this review failed to exhibit many of the psychometric properties required of well-designed norm-referenced tests. Of particular concern was lack of adequate sample size, poor evidence of construct validity, and lack of information about diagnostic accuracy. Conclusions To ensure that clinicians have access to valid and reliable tests, test developers must make a greater effort to establish that the tests they design have adequate psychometric properties. The authors hope that this review will help clinicians and other professionals to be more aware of some of the limitations of using these tests to make educational decisions.

Objective: The aim of this study is to make the Turkish validity and reliability of the vaccine hesitation scale to be used in combating experienced or possible pandemics in the future. Methods: It is a methodological study in which the Turkish validity and reliability of the "Vaccine Hesitancy Scale" developed by Larson et al. (2015) was modified for pandemics. Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were conducted with the data collected from 617 volunteers for construct validity. Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient and language and construct validity were performed for reliability and validity. Results: As a result of EFA and CFA, the 10-item "Vaccine Hesitancy Scale in Pandemics" showed a two-factor structure. The two-factor structure explains 68.53% of the total variance. Factor loadings related to the items of the scale vary between 0.638 and 0.887. Confirmation of EFA results with CFA results was found to provide construct validity. It was observed that the reliability criterion was met by determining the Cronbach Alpha Coefficient as 0.901. Conclusion: It is thought that the "Vaccine Hesitancy Scale in Pandemics", which has been conducted with the data obtained from people with different socio-demographic characteristics of the Turkish people, can be a reference that can be used by researchers as a valid and reliable measurement tool.

Instrument construct is one of the most important issues in conducting research. Without proper consideration in tackling the issue, it is difficult for the instrument to be considered as valid and reliable. If construct validity is accurate, then it will provide a clearer and more precise descriptive analysis on the concepts being investigated. The most important criteria that need to be considered in answering the construct validity are reliability and validity. In traditional measurement model, the understanding of reliability and validity is totally different from the one offered by Rasch model. Regardless of the difference, an internal consistency is still widely being used as the primary method to measure the item sampling. Using this model, local dependence and item fit are most considered in getting valid, reliable, and consistent, hence its significance. Finally the study applies goodness of measure purposely to answer issues related to validity and reliability tests. Principal components analysis was carried out to test the construct of questionnaires used in the study.

ABSTRACTBackground:There is a question of whether a single assessment tool can assess the key competencies of residents as mandated by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada CanMEDS roles framework.Objective:The objective of the present study was to investigate the reliability and validity of an emergency medicine (EM) in-training evaluation report (ITER).Method:ITER data from 2009 to 2011 were combined for residents across the 5 years of the EM residency training program. An exploratory factor analysis with varimax rotation was used to explore the construct validity of the ITER. A total of 172 ITERs were completed on residents across their first to fifth year of training.Results:A combined, 24-item ITER yielded a five-factor solution measuring the CanMEDs role Medical Expert/ Scholar, Communicator/Collaborator, Professional, Health Advocate and Manager subscales. The factor solution accounted for 79% of the variance, and reliability coefficients (Cronbach alpha) ranged from α = 0.90 to 0.95 for each subscale and α = 0.97 overall. The combined, 24-item ITER used to assess residents’ competencies in the EM residency program showed strong reliability and evidence of construct validity for assessment of the CanMEDS roles.Conclusions:Further research is needed to develop and test ITER items that will differentiate each CanMEDS role exclusively.

The Affective Style Questionnaire was developed by Hofmann ve Kashdan (2010) to determine the affective styles of individuals. The purpose of this study is to adapt “The Affective Style Questionnaire” in Turkish culture and to perform a validity and reliability study on a sample consisting of university students who are in appearing adulthood period in Turkey. The study group consisted of 343 (192 female and 151 male) students attending to various departments of the Faculty of Education at Dokuz Eylül University. The validity of the questionnaire was determined by construct validity, concurrent validity and language validity studies. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to test construct validity. The original three-factor structure of the questionnaire has been verified. As a result of concurrent validity it was found a positive and significant correlation between the scores of The Affective Style Questionnaire and The Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. Similary, in the language validity study, a positive and significant correlation was obtained between two applications. In addition, the internal consistency and test-retest reliability coefficients supported the reliability of the questionnaire. The results show that “The Affective Style Questionnaire” will be used as a valid and reliable measurement tool.

Abstract Background Microsurgery training has become an important part of ophthalmology teaching and one of the main topics of examination. Accurate and effective evaluation of microsurgery skills is vital for the training and teaching of residents. In this study, we aimed to establish a pterygium surgery assessment scale for use by ophthalmic residents and evaluate its reliability and validity. Methods Based on a literature search, experienced pterygium surgeons developed the preliminary scale according to the standard surgical procedure. The preliminary scale and a questionnaire were sent to teaching and research experts in the field for feedback. Face and content validity and reliability of the scale were determined by rounds of modifications based on expert feedback. For construct validity, existing assessment scales were obtained and a range of factors were tested. Results Nineteen expert surgeons completed the questionnaire and modifications were made until all surgeons agreed on the final scale. Good construct validity was found by evaluation against 257 existing scales. For reliability, 280 evaluation scales were completed. Inter- and intra-rater reliability analysis both found Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) > 0.8 for all items and total scores. Conclusion The pterygium surgery assessment scale developed in this study has good reliability and validity, and is an effective measurement tool for the evaluation of ophthalmology residents’ pterygium surgical skills.

The purpose of this study is to develop a Satisfaction Scale for Athlete and to test its reliability and validity. Three hundred forty one professional soccer players from Turkish Super League, First and Second League voluntarily participated in this study. SSA consists of 16 items and three subscales, which are satisfaction with coach, satisfaction with team performance and satisfaction with teammates. Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Multi-Sample Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Factorial Invariance were conducted to construct validity of the Satisfaction Scale for Athlete. MANOVA was performed for known-groups validity analysis of the Satisfaction Scale for Athlete by comparing the scores of soccer players from Turkish Super League with the soccer players from First and Second Leagues. As a result, support for construct validity, reliability and with soccer athletes was established, along with measurement invariance. MANOVA analyses showed predicted discrimination between the leagues. Overall, these results show the reliability and validity of the newly established Satisfaction Scale for Athlete.

This study aimed to verify the construct validity and reliability of a scale of assessment quality of learning in Saudi universities, a study on a sample of Tabuk University students. To achieve this goal, the descriptive and analytical approach was used where a questionnaire was developed consisting of (32) statements distributed in five axes: content, technology and support, user interface, evaluation tools and methods, and safety. The questionnaire was applied electronically to a random stratified sample of (275) students, and was classified according to specialization and gender. The students’ responses were used to answer the study questions related to examining the scaling properties, analyzing the descriptive statistics of assessment practices and comparing the mean values according to nominal variables by using descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis and two- way ANOVA. The study provided indices of the reliability and validity of the scale. The results indicated that the quality of e- learning was average according to Likert's five- point grading used in the scale, as most of the averages for expressions were statistically higher than the hypothetical mean of grading, and there were no statistically significant differences in the arithmetic averages of the sample estimates due to specialization and gender. Some recommendations were given at the end of the study, such as: using the proposed scale in diagnosing the reality of e- learning in Saudi universities, in order to improve and develop this type of learning, which we need, especially in light of the Corona pandemic.

Background:The Children’s Assessment of Participation and Enjoyment (CAPE) and the Preferences for Activities of Children (PAC) are 2 measures of children’s participation in various activities. The purpose of this study was the validation of the Greek version of “CAPE & PAC.”Methods:The questionnaires were translated and pilot tested on a sample of 25 individuals. The reliability and validity of the questionnaires were tested on 302 individuals (253 typical population, 49 disabled), 6−21 years of age. The construct validity of the instruments was examined the directional hypothesis by comparing known groups with existing differences. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted to determine the validity of the typology of activities. The reliability was examined by checking the internal consistency of the instruments.Results:The comparison between divergent groups confirmed the predicted differences of the mean scores and the validity of the instruments. Seven factors (categories of activities) emerged from the factor analysis. The acceptable range of Cronbach alpha for the PAC scale indicated high consistency.Conclusion:This study provides evidence that partially support the validity and reliability of “CAPE & PAC” instruments to use in Greek population. Further investigation is recommended for both clinical and research purposes.
