Abstract Objective: Design a decision-making model for the development of new products in the fishing cooperative societies of the community Las Arenitas, Eldorado, Sinaloa. Methodology: In accordance with the methodology used, it was classified as qualitative. A case study was carried out in the „Jose Luis Castro Verduzco” fishing cooperative located in Sinaloa, Mexico, where a series of open questions were applied to obtain the opinion of the manager and secretary about the decision making process. Findings: The lack of clarity in the role of the actors in the decision-making process and their specific steps when developing new products was identified. Knowledge about the use of tools is limited, mainly due to the low levels of preparation of managers and members of the cooperative, as well as the lack of knowledge of the processes for the development of new products. Value Added: The study allowed identifying the need for design a method that guides the manager and members of the fishing cooperative in the community of Las Arenitas Eldorado, Sinaloa, towards activities that generate added value in primary products and reduce uncertainty in the decision-making process for the development of new products caused by changes in the needs of the consumer market. Recommendations: The use of a decision-making process is of vital importance for the administration since it contributes to assess, analyze and control situations to choose the best option for the company. Within this project the fishing cooperative has a lot of growth potential, for this reason the implementation of methods such as: The ordered weighted averaging operators OWA or multicriteria analysis for decision making in the development of new products.

This study sets out to identify the various factors of a health drink product that affects the consumer decision-making process. It aims to determine the relative importance connected to multiple aspects of health drink beverages, such as brand, nutrition content, taste, muscle building, brain boosting, price, ingredients, and country of origin. The paper also aims to identify consumer segments by the relative importance consumers give to various attributes of health drinks. Through examining the literature, the researchers identified various attributes of health drinks, which they analyzed empirically using a choice-based conjoint survey conducted with the help of the internet-based software 1000minds. Cluster analysis was also done to identify different consumer segments. The study identified two consumer segments: brand conscious and value conscious. As the name indicates, the brand-conscious segment gives more importance to a trusted brand, followed by nutrition content and price.

Today, there is no consensus about proper timing and conditions for integration of PowerPoint presentations into the educational process. But the model-based evaluation can make a decision-making process easier when it comes to using presentations. The purpose of this study is to build a formal model to evaluate presentations. In order to build a formal model, the authors suggest employing hierarchical structure consisting of aggregation operators, such as the weighted averaging operator, minimum operator, and fuzzy Choquet integral. The proposed formal model shows experts' knowledge of the interdependencies between the criteria. The experiment described in the paper demonstrates the effectiveness of such a model as it allows to formalize expert preferences gradually, which may include interdependencies between the quality criteria of a presentation. Thus, this model will allow to store, analyze, and compare presentations properties that are necessary for their successful application.

Big <span>data in agriculture is defined as massive volumes of data with a wide variety of sources and types which can be captured using internet of things sensors (soil and crops sensors, drones, and meteorological stations), analyzed and used for decision-making. In the era of internet of things (IoT) tools, connected agriculture has appeared. Big data outputs can be exploited by the future connected agriculture in order to reduce cost and time production, improve yield, develop new products, offer optimization and smart decision-making. In this article, we propose a functional framework to model the decision-making process in digital and connected agriculture</span>.

Introduction:Although individual patient data meta-analysis (IPD MA) is considered the gold standard of systematic reviews (SRs), a recent International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment survey indicates that IPD MA is not frequently included in a health technology assessment (HTA), or conducted by HTA researchers. The objective of this presentation is to describe our first experience with including an IPD MA in a HTA report, discuss the added value for an evidence-based decision-making process, and advocate for expanding work in this field. Methods:An overview of SRs on endovascular therapy for acute ischemic stroke included one IPD MA and six study-level SRs/MAs. Methodological quality was appraised by two reviewers independently using the tool recommended by the Cochrane IPD MA working group for the IPD MA, and the AMSTAR (A MeaSurement Tool to Assess systematic Reviews) for the study-level reviews. Pooled results from subgroup analyses based on access to primary patient data were compared to those reported in SRs that conducted subgroup analyses based on the published data to identify patients or clinical factors that would impact clinical outcomes. Results:The overall findings were similar between the IPD MA and other SRs/MAs. However, when compared to aggregated data used in study-level SRs/MAs, subgroup analyses based on patient data allowed for adjustment of confounders, multiple categories within a subgroup, standardization of outcomes across trials, and detailed data checking. Larger sample sizes of each pre-defined subgroup permitted for more precise estimates of treatment effects. A number of methodological issues in the IPD MA were identified; particularly, no assessment of risk of bias of included trials was conducted. Conclusions:Access to original patient data is demanding and conducting IPD MA requires extensive resources. The advantages of having an improved quality analysis, an appropriate quantification of the effects in the analyzed subgroups, and precision of results may justify additional efforts, and may increase confidence in the decision-making process.

Aim: This work aims at highlighting the role of patient's expectations in regard to experimental drugs and/or medical treatments, analyzing which factors might affect the final clinical outcome (i.e. expected effectiveness). Results: Current studies suggest that psychological and neurobiological mechanisms intersect in inducing the placebo effect, which might be considered as a positive plus value added to the final collected outcome. Moreover, considering psychological mechanisms, we can identify both the expectations and the classical conditioning, Conclusion: A successful relationship between patients and caregivers, which is based on empathy (i.e. the ability to perceive the emotional state of the person we are in contact) can make the difference in the final outcome, increasing the expected effectiveness of the medical treatment.

The Limpopo River Basin, one of the nine international rivers crossing Mozambique, historically has shown to be cyclically flooded, undermining the economic and social development of its four riparian countries. Local and external added efforts are always in place when floods occur. Nowadays there are recommended ex-ante instruments to prevent floods and one of the most applicable instruments worldwide is insurance. Most of the inhabitants, even governments, affected by Limpopo River Basin are poor, therefore our concern regards the viability to apply insurance as a strategy for flood risk management. Moreover our research investigates to what extent the application of insurance, within two identified communities as case study, might create an added value in the process of decision making on flood risk management for Limpopo River Basin.

Financial Analysts consider as profit the most important measure of business performance. Profit may be expressed in terms of money value and measured as sales margin percentage or be calculated as return of investment. These, in any form, are used as basis for measure of business performance. In recent years, considerable interest have  been shown in the use of value added as an alternative or additional approach to measure the operational efficiency and profitability of a business. A lot of discussion have been going on about reporting the performance of an organization in terms of value added rather than conventional profit or loss. The information disclosed by the Statement of Value Added, based on Value Added Accounting and reporting is considered to be much more useful than that disclosed by the conventional profit and loss account in providing a realistic basis for measuring the economic performance of an organization. The concept has received great attention in accounting practices with the emergence of large corporations having significant bearing on the society and finally on the economy for multi-dimensional impact over and above the owners. Value added system is a very useful measure of judging the performance of an enterprise for managerial decision-making and for inter-firm comparison. Keywords: Value Added; Value Added Accounting and Reporting, Value Added Statement, Annual Report.

Purpose - The defense industry is one of the leading business sectors in Israel and also worldwide. Competitive Intelligence (hereafter CI) is embedded into this sector and supports its decision making process. In recent years more information about this industry and about the CI activity is available while characterized by fierce competition and quick changes in the competitive environment. It is evident that CI is used widely by the leading firms in this sector while it has become an integral part of the business activity, and its added value seems to be significant. It is possible to define a framework of CI activity in this industry and to reflect on its advantages and limitations. It is my hope that this paper will encourage further research on this topic. Methodology/approach – Gathering information that has been published in Israel and abroad that was analyzed and thus offers insight into this issue. Findings – The defense industry in general and especially in Israel is using CI intensively in the highly competitive environment of defense products to support the decision making process. Research limitations – For many years, the information on this sector was notavailable. It is in now in a process of change and this enables us to build up a comprehensive picture. Practical implications – This study can make a contribution to global corporations competing in highly dynamic sectors, especially those that are operating in the governmental sectors. Originality/ value – This is the first work in Israel on the use of CI in the defense sector. Paper type: A case study analysis.

Knowledge-based companies are transforming everything: the way they are organized and managed, the way they do work and develop new products, the way they manage risks, and their relationships with other organizations in order to survive and compete in the rapidly changing business environment. The accomplished companies in this harsh competition are the ones that focus on the customer, get rid of the nonvalue and low-value activities, decentralize the decision making process, reduce the time required to perform key activities, and form new networks and collaborations with suppliers, customers, and competitors (AICPA, 1994).
