Abstract Introduction Tourism has a major role in economic and social interests. Karimunjawa is one of Indonesia’s tourist destinations, making the Karimunjawa Island a national park area for tourist destinations. Indonesia must have policies to support tourism, transportation, and infrastructure. This research aimed to identify the role of the community, tourists, NGOs, and district governments in implementing the Karimunjawa National Park management policy. Material and methods The descriptive quantitative method (questionnaire and path analysis) was used in this research. Results The test results showed that there was a direct relationship between the role of the community and the Central Java provincial government with a Path Coefficients value of 0.515; the role of tourists in government policies was −0.230, the role of NGOs in Central Java Provincial Government policies with a Path Coefficients value was 0.292 and the role of district governments against the Provincial Government policy was −0.332. Conclusions The value of Path Coefficients showed that there was still a lack of policy implementation from the provincial government to the community and NGOs. Collaboration between the district and provincial governments in managing was an effective way of monitoring tourism sustainably.

Purpose This paper aims to identify what ethical attributes tourists associate with national parks’ brands shown on food souvenir labels and the influence of such attributes on purchase motivations. Design/methodology/approach An exploratory study was carried out involving a total of 102 Italian tourists, who were interviewed at two different souvenir shops in Italy. Respondents were first asked to describe what images and values they were associating with the visited Italian National Park. The second level of questions related to the association of food products with national parks and the purchase motivations of food products branded with the national park’s label. The ethical attributes associated with the national parks’ brands and their relevance in purchase motivations were detected and analyzed through content analysis. Findings The analysis of the national park brand allows highlighting the food souvenir role in communicating ethical values that influence the perceived quality of food as well as tourists’ purchase motivations. The analysis reveals interesting implications for the enhancement of local productions in tourist destinations, more specifically, how the place brand can act as a valuable communication tool. Particular attention is given to the crucial role that national parks’ brands play in strengthening the value proposition of small businesses located within parks. This vision must be implemented from the perspective of mutual promotion of local food and tourism in these parks. Originality/value The results of this paper contributed to the literature by filling the gap regarding the role of place brands in promoting food souvenirs.

Kebijakan pemerintah berupa input-output diharapkan mampu melindungi kedelai domestik agar mampu berdaya saing. ABSTRACT Domestic soybeans are safer to consume than transgenic soybeans and have higher protein content than imported soybeans. Domestic soybean development is still prospective, but domestic soybeans' competitiveness is getting more massive due to the abundance of imported soybeans. Government policy in the form of input-output is expected to protect domestic soybeans from being competitive. This research analyzes the competitiveness and level of protection of government policies on domestic soybeans in Grobogan Regency. The research was conducted in soybean production centers, which is Panunggalan Village, Pulokulon District, Grobogan Regency. The research data was obtained through a survey of 30 soybean farmers in April 2019. Primary data is data on soybean farming planted at the beginning of the 2017/2018 rainy season. Data analyzed using the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). The results indicate that domestic soybean farming in Grobogan Regency is proven to have comparative and competitive advantages with PCR values 0.88 and DRCR 0.92. Government policy on output, input, and output-input of domestic soybean farming protects domestic soybeans and benefits farmers to get a higher surplus. Government policy in the form of subsidies is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic soybeans. keywords: competitiveness, soybean, PAM analysis.

Maintaining the karst and biodiversity of the North Kendeng Mountains, which extend across five kabupaten in Central Java (Rembang, Blora, Pati, Kudus, and Grobogan) is not an easy task. A PT Semen Indonesia (PT SI) cement factory has been established on Bokong Rembang Mountain, and PT Semen Grobogan (PT SG) was planned to be opened in Kecamatan Tanggungharjo at the end of 2016. According to the Bupati of Grobogan, Sri Sumarni, as quoted by Tribun Jateng on 2 September 2016, “in addition to pressure from the people, the establishment of a cement factory will absorb a lot of local jobs”. She then went on to say that the authority to approve PT SG is not only in the hands of Grobogan Kabupaten Government but also in the hands of the Central Java Provincial Government. “This means that the Kabupaten Government just goes along with the Provincial Government policies and that of Governor Ganjar Pranowo. With the Central Government planning a cement factory moratorium we will get together with the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) and prominent local figures to discuss the issue.

Abstract: The terrain of higher education in Canada is changing in ways that are facilitated and encouraged by government policies directed at telelearning technologies. This study, a review of federal and provincial government policies relating to the use of telelearning technologies in postsecondary education, reveals several significant trends. First, telelearning policy for the postsecondary sector straddles the boundary between education and economic development policy, a shift that changes conventional educational funding criteria. Second, telelearning technologies are being implemented in ways that support other government policy goals such as greater integration and efficiency in provincial postsecondary systems and increased support for labour market needs. While the implications of these changes are not yet entirely clear, we can anticipate the need for policy processes that include greater recognition of the role of negotiation--policies and policy processes which address explicitly the facts of dissolving boundaries, new connections, and emerging organizational forms. The higher educational sector seems inadequately prepared for these challenges.

This article examines the effect of linguistic anxiety on identity by analyzing the use of English in Japanese television from the perspective of Sociocultural Linguistics. Close analysis of segments from Japanese television entertainment programs shows how both verbal and visual intertextual resources are used to create linguistic anxiety at the micro level of personal interaction, on the macro level of government policy and television genre, and also at meso levels that exist between both the macro and micro. Semiotic resources such as costumes, set design, subtitles, and other elements in the mediascape allow for circulation of ideologies from government policies into assessments of individuals. The role of meso level discourse in the bidirectional transmission of linguistic anxiety between the macro levels of society and the micro levels of personal interaction is discussed.

This paper constitutes a detailed analysis and critique ofthe British asylum system from 1997 until the present day. It covers all the clearly defined areas of government policy, including funding, detention, deportation, human rights, European Union obligations, and asylum welfare. It also addresses the role of the judiciary and cites many of the landmark legal cases that have had a major impact on the sector. In providing a comprehensive overview of asylum and immigration that spans the entire period of the Labour government and the first few months of the new Coalition’s tenure, the author aims to show that an often illiberal UK asylum policy is largely governed by principles of deterrent and political expediency. Only an enlightened House of Lords, now the Supreme Court, has served as a bulwark for justice and mitigated the effect of draconian government policies.
